The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been accidentally released inside The Collector’s Fortress so he can find and rescue his little buddy.

On Halloween, Oct. 31, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark will take over The Collector’s Fortress throughout the Disney California Adventure park operating day. Disney is giving you the chance to experience this limited-time transformation all day long!

Lots of exciting news came out of Disney’s D23 Expo this year including the announcement of “The Art of Marvel” Hotel at Disneyland Paris. Disney announced at the Expo that Hotel New York will be re-imagined into the new “Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.”

Today, additional details on the project have been announced. Hotel New York will close beginning in October 2018 and will reopen sometime in 2020. In total, the re-imaging of the Hotel will take around two years. The following statement was posted on the Disneyland Paris website:

“We’re always adding a little more shine and magic to our hotels for your future enjoyment. From October 2018, we’ll be busy at work, totally re-imagining the Disney’s Hotel New York into an inspiring world of Marvel Super Heroes. Opening planned within 2020.”

Pancakes not your thing? Make a stop at Sleepy Hallow in Magic Kingdom for Mickey Pumpkin Waffles. These treats are being served all day and are topped with vanilla ice cream and Halloween sprinkles. Grab them before they’re gone – they’re only being served through November 1st.

Have mercy! Actor John Stamos proposed to his girlfriend of over a year, Caitlin McHugh, at Disneyland this past weekend. While getting engaged in Disneyland is magical enough, his actual proposal was on a whole other level.

After taking a look at Stamos or McHugh’s social media accounts, it’s easy to see that they are true Disney Addicts. They both have several posts on their accounts taken at Disneyland. Lara Spencer, anchor on Good Morning America, also reported this morning that Stamos even has the “D” from the original Disney sign in his backyard. Now that’s the ultimate souvenir right there!

As I stated above, Stamos took the proposal to a whole new level of magic. John Stamos’ rep told E! News, “He cut together a film of some of the most romantic moments in Disney and Pixar animation. The film concluded with Sebastian from The Little Mermaid encouraging John to ‘Just ask the girl.’ Caitlin said yes, then John whisked her to 21 Royal where they shared the news and celebrated with their families.” How magical!

“We present, Feeling Fireworks is aimed at making fireworks more inclusive for blind and visually impaired users, in a unique experience that can be shared by all. Tactile effects are created using directable water jets that spray onto the rear of a flexible screen, with different nozzles for different firework effects. Our approach is low-cost and scales well, and allows for dynamic tactile effects to be rendered with high spatial resolution. A user study demonstrated that the tactile effects are meaningful analogs to the visual fireworks that they represent, with sighted users able to label the correct correspondence of tactile-to-visual effects by a large margin over chance. Beyond the specific application, the technology represents a novel and cost-effective approach for making large scalable tactile displays, with the potential for wider use.”

Zootopia Inspired Anti-Bullying PSA Gets ‘As Told By Emoji’ Twist

Today Disney released “Judy’s Journey As Told By Emoji” in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month this October. Inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia, this video PSA is to help educate and raise awareness for bullying prevention.

Inspired by the themes of Zootopia and the work of Oscar-winning directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore, as well as co-writers Jared Bush and Phil Johnston, Disney Digital Network (DDN) worked closely with the team to create the video, which is available now on Disney’s YouTube, Facebook, and other social media channels, and will also air on Disney Channel.

The video PSA is part of Disney’s ongoing effort to inspire kids, families, and communities around the country to #ChooseKindness and put an end to bullying, in collaboration with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center (PACER) and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

“So many of us can relate to Judy’s story – she was bullied for her big ideas and overcame the challenges around her to become what she had always dreamed,” said Zootopia director Byron Howard. “PACER and GLSEN are both tremendous resources for people who feel bullied and need information and support. About Judy’s Journey ‘As Told By Emoji’
Similar to the original animated feature film, Zootopia, “Judy’s Journey” centers on a young Judy Hopps, who is bullied by her peers when she tells them she wants to become the first bunny police officer – but Judy doesn’t let that stop her from following her dreams. At the end of “Judy’s Journey As Told By Emoji,” there are helpful guidelines for kids who are being bullied, advising them to tell a parent, teacher, or a trusted adult.

The video is one of a number of National Bullying Prevention Month activations taking place across The Walt Disney Company. Later in the week, for Unity Day on October 25, Disney will make Disney-Pixar’s 2017 animated short film LOU, which released alongside Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3, available to view exclusively on Disney.com for the full day. In LOU, a toy stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids, but one thing stands in his way: the “Lost and Found” box. It is an inspiring tale about acceptance and inclusion, one that shows how a cycle of bullying can be broken by spreading kindness.

Gelatoni has arrived at Shanghai Disney Resort and the whole park is celebrating! Gelatoni is the adorable feline friend of Duffy Bear cherished by Disney fans around the world. Mickey, Minnie, Duffy, ShellieMay and other Disney friends welcomed Gelatoni to Shanghai Disney Resort, which also launched a new line of merchandise, as well as food and beverage offerings featuring Gelatoni.

As most fans of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts already know, Duffy is a Disney bear designed by Minnie Mouse to accompany Mickey while he travels the world. As a present for Duffy, Minnie Mouse also designed a pink Disney bear named ShellieMay, who joined Duffy and began her journey at Shanghai Disney Resort earlier this year.

Gelatoni, a boy cat with bright eyes, a long tail, and a beret who loves to paint, is the latest arrival of Duffy’s friends at Shanghai Disney Resort. He uses his tail as a brush to paint scenes of his adventures, his friends and even his namesake – gelato (Italian ice cream). Gelatoni met Duffy and Mickey Mouse along the Palazzo Canals and quickly became friends, after Duffy spilled his gelato and Gelatoni saved the day by using the spilled dessert to paint Duffy a picture on his canvas. Duffy learned the fun of painting from Gelatoni and the two friends exchanged each other’s favorite work of art as gifts. This curious Italian kitten will paint, explore, smile, and bring even more magic, cheer and happiness to guests at Shanghai Disney Resort.
