Show Off Your Competitive Side with the Spring Challenge at Blizzard Beach

Guests looking for a special way to enjoy Disney’s Water Parks will want to pay a visit to Blizzard Beach this Spring and take part in their Spring Challenge.

As of going to print, few details have been released about this fun seasonal activity. But, what we do know is that it will take from March 24-25th and will provide fun and competitive challenges for the whole family.

Events will include obstacle courses, water slide races and other interactive games. Winners will also get to take home some exclusive Blizzard Beach theme goodies!

It’s that time of the year! The Disney internet is all abuzz with possible discounts for Disney World. It’s usually around this time that we hear discounts announced for Summer visits and even Free Dining.

In the past, Summer discounts have been announced towards the end of March. The Free Dining promotion is historically released around the end of April. Last year, the Free Dining offer was available for the end of August, all of September and select arrival dates in November and December. October was completely blacked out from the Free Dining offer in 2017.

As always, discounts are never guaranteed by Disney. In the past few years, the Free Dining offer was super limited and rumors were swirling that it would be phased out. Since there was previously a Free Dining bounce back offer for 2018, that should give some hope that the discount will be available this year. However, with Star Wars Land opening next year, one might think this will be the last year it is offered. Keep in mind that room discounts are historically offered during the same Free Dining period and sometimes work out to be a greater savings!

Disney Seeking Improv Actors At Auditions For A New Summer Offering

Calling all actors! Disney is holding auditions for a new summer offering. Male and female improv actors are encouraged to attend. While the show has not been named, a few summer offerings have already been announced including Epcot’s new Guardians of the Galaxy dance party.

Casting is looking for experienced interactive, improvisational actors to portray passionate and enthusiastic comic book super fans. The ideal candidate is personable and energetic and is eager to engage with strangers to share all details of their fandom. While knowledge of actual comic, fantasy and superhero characters is not required, the ability to improvise is essential.

Auditions will be held on April 10th at the Animal Kingdom Rehearsal Facility at 4 pm. Sign in will be from 3 – 4 pm. Anyone auditioning must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States. Before auditioning, be sure to create and/or update your profile at DisneyAuditions.com and prepare a 1-minute comedic monologue. Callbacks are by appointment and will be held Friday, April 13th.

This Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcake at Mama Melrose's Will Have You Saying Bellissimo!

For one of the most creative sweet treats, you’ll find on Disney World property, head over to Mama Melrose’s at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and look for the Spaghetti and Meatball cupcake on the kid’s menu!

Though this cake may look savory it’s actually made up of a chocolate cupcake, topped with vanilla buttercream tinted with a touch of yellow and piped from a skinny tipped pastry bag to give the look of spaghetti. The meatball is really chocolate cake rolled in chocolate sprinkles. Next, a strawberry marinara is used to create the pasta sauce and white chocolate shavings offer a sweet replacement for the Parmesan cheese!

Be sure to ask for it next time you’re paying a visit to this much-loved Italian eatery. The cost of the cupcake is $3.00.

Disney Delays Registration for Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Early this week Walt Disney World was scheduled to open up registration for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend slated to take place this Fall during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. However, yesterday Disney released the following tweet:

Registration for #WineDineHalf Weekend is temporarily delayed. We will have a registration update later this week, so please check back then. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to hosting our runners for the race at Walt Disney World Resort from Nov. 1-4, 2018. pic.twitter.com/af6e0TeNQI

Though Disney says they are looking forward to the race taking place from Nov. 1-4, runners and racing fans are worried that there may be changes afoot. As we reported late last year, Disney made the announcement that they would be cancelling all race weekends at Disneyland Resort beginning in 2018. Though Disney sited construction around Disneyland as they prepare for Pixar Pier and Star Wars Land, it has put runDisney fans on edge that Walt Disney World may be scaling back their runDisney offerings.

As of going to print, Disney has said they will make an update later this week regarding the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. This is a story we’ll be watching closely so keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest news and updates.

“The Incredibles” Edna Mode Meet-and-Greet Coming to Pixar Pier

It’s official, Edna Mode from “The Incredibles” is now going to be present as a meet and greet character walking around at Pixar Pier!

Edna will also be making an appearance on the new Incredicoaster, also coming to Pixar Pier. The storyline for the ride has Edna Mode babysitting Jack Jack Parr, and of course, something goes wrong. We see each of The Incredibles characters show off their superpowers during the ride, with Mrs. Incredible making an appearance in one of the scream tubes, which are being enclosed to allow Imagineers new ways to incorporate the characters into the ride.

Pixar Pier opens Saturday, June 23rd at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California.

Attention all photo-op lovers! There is now a new PhotoPass location at Disney Springs. Between the hours of 12:30 and 6:00 pm you can grab an “Original Selfie” with this vintage camera prop. Over near Dockside Margaritas, you will find a PhotoPass photographer ready to capture the moment for you.

Disney has just released the first look at “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular”. This new nighttime show will be coming to Disneyland park throughout Pixar Fest beginning April 13th. Guests can prepare to be wowed at this celebration of friendship orchestrated to dazzling pyrotechnics and memorable music.

Together Forever will feature projections onto Disneyland’s most iconic locations including the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A., the facade of “It’s A Small World”, the water screens of the Rivers of America, and Sleeping Beauty Castle. In addition to these projections, we can expect to see Buzz Lightyear and the house from Up flying over the castle.

Due to U.S. Travel Warning Disney Cruise Line is Canceling Port Adventures to Mexican Mainland on Select Caribbean Sailings

Due to U.S. Travel Warning Disney Cruise Line is Canceling Port Adventures to Mexican Mainland on Select Caribbean Sailings

On March 1, 2018, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico issued a security alert discouraging travel on tourist ferries between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen in Mexico. The warning from the U.S. State Department was issued after an explosion on a tourist ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen occurred last month. Investigators found explosive devices on board the ferry. Late last week additional devices were found attached to a similar ferry in the area.

Cozumel is a popular stop on Disney’s 7-Night Western Caribbean sailings and Disney Cruise Line has several Port Adventure excursions available that take guests to the Mexican mainland and through the Playa del Carmen.

As a result, Disney Cruise Line is now starting to contact guests on select sailings to notify them that Port Adventures involving travel to the Mexican mainland are being cancelled.

Guests are being notified of the cancellation of the following excursions:

Tulum Ruins (CZ06)
Amazing Secret River and Playa del Carmen (CZ51)
Xcaret Eco Archaeological Park (CZ10)
Xel-Ha Park & River Tubing – All Inclusive (CZ53)
Xplor Park (CZ56)
Caves, Caverns and Paradise Lagoon (CZ79)
Turtle Snorkel and Mystic River (CZ84)
Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins – New World Wonder (CZ86)

Those travelling on upcoming sailings are being advised that if they booked any of the above experiences, the excursions will be automatically removed from their onboard plans. As of going to print it isn’t clear how many sailings are being impacted by these closures. Our source who received the email is slated to travel on the 7-night Western Caribbean sailing out of Port Canaveral on March 17, 2018.

Disney Cruise Line is giving the following advice to guests visiting Cozumel:

“We recommend that all guests remain on the island of Cozumel, which offers a variety of great experiences during our visit and avoid traveling via ferry to the neighboring Playa del Carmen. We also ask that clients remain vigilant about personal safety and the safety of their belongings. The letter goes on to add “At this time we do not anticipate any additional changes to Port Adventures in Cozumel. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide necessary updates when needed.”
