Cast Members Able To Add Disney Magic To Star Wars Galaxies Edge

What an awesome thing for Cast Members to do! Disney is allowing them to sign the beam that’s going to be at the tallest point of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre remote outpost that will transport guests to a galaxy far, far away, at Hollywood Studios & Disneyland!

Recently, thousands of Disney cast members excited to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge coming to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrated a major construction milestone with the signing of a support beam that’ll top out the new land.

As some of you may know, beam signings are part of a longtime construction tradition at Disney Parks. Updates have been shared by Disney on beam signings for expansions like Pandora – The World of Avatar, plus the Disneyland park site of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

To think that their name will be apart of Disney for as long as that is standing… Amazing!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland park in 2019. The new land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is just one element of the multi-year transformation of the park, which also includes Toy Story Land, set to open in the summer of 2018.

Don’t have plans for Thanksgiving dinner yet? Don’t worry! The Swan and Dolphin Resorts at Walt Disney World have you covered! Four restaurants at The Swan and Dolphin will be offering their takes on the traditional Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday, November 23.

Todd English’s bluezoo

  • Thanksgiving Day Special: Roulade de dinde (turkey roulade), winter squash, chestnut mezzalune, haricots vert (green beans), porcini gravy, sage, nitro cranberry

Todd English’s bluezoo will be open from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., serving its full menu in addition to the Thanksgiving special. The special will be $38. Reservations can be made by calling 407-934-1717.

Garden Grove

  • Thanksgiving Day Special Highlights: Roasted winter squash soup, roasted turkey, apple cider-glazed smoked ham, a variety of sides including mashed potatoes, caramelized carrots, butternut ravioli, hazelnut brown butter stuffing, various composed salads and an assortment of homemade cakes and pastries (Children’s menu: Chicken nuggets, mini corndogs, mac & cheese, daily vegetables)

Garden Grove will feature its annual Thanksgiving buffet, served from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The buffet will be $42.99 for adults, $20.99 for children ages 3-9 and free for children under 3. Disney Characters will provide entertainment for the dinner buffet. Reservations can be made by calling 407-934-1609.

Il Mulino

  • Thanksgiving Day Special: Organic heritage turkey, confit legs, sweet potatoes, brussels, Cipollini, cranberry, natural jus

Il Mulino will have a Thanksgiving special in addition to its full menu. Seating will be from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The special will be $39 for adults and $25 for children. For more details and to make reservations, please call: 407-934-1717.

Fresh

  • Thanksgiving Day Special Highlights: Assorted salads, cured meats and cheeses, assorted hot and cold tapas, roasted butternut squash soup, seared wild Florida sea bass with caper white wine sauce, mashed potatoes, carved honey baked ham, roasted organic tom turkey, wild mushroom risotto

Fresh will have a special Thanksgiving Day buffet served from 12:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The buffet will be $42.99 for adults, $22.99 for children ages 3-9 and children 2 or under will be complimentary (exclusive of tax and 18% gratuity). We have officially said goodbye to the Halloween, and now Christmas is in full swing at Disneyland Resort. While the decorations are beautiful, and the ride overlays are a fun take on your favorite rides, my absolute favorite part of the season change at the Disney parks is the food! There is an abundance of delicious holiday themed food popping up around the parks, and one sweet snack is gaining Instagram popularity, Gingerbread Funnel Cake Fries.

When you’re eating guacamole, you’re eating history that dates back to the 1500s. The Aztec empire created this spread with the same exact ingredients that local restaurants use today.

According to Wikipedia, Guacamole (Spanish: [wakaˈmole]; or [ɡwakaˈmole] sometimes informally referred to as “guac” in North America is an avocado-based dip, spread, or salad. In addition to its use in modern Mexican cuisine, it has become part of international and American cuisine as a dip, condiment and salad ingredient.

Guacamole has always been a table pleaser, for all to enjoy. The Aztecs believed it to be a natural aphrodisiac and with more natural monosaturated fat and protein than other fruits available, it was vital to their diet. Avocados have about 20 vitamins and minerals and been found to help manage heart problems and cholesterol for some people. What a great fruit to eat, even by itself or with other meals.

In celebration of National Avocado Day which is Nov 14th, Tortilla Jo’s at Downtown Disney Anaheim, is highlighting their freshly made bottomless table-side guacamole. For those who haven’t tried the fresh made dip, you’re missing out. They make it right there in front of you, you see all the fresh ingredients they they use as well as you get to choose the spice level. During out recent media dinner this past week, our group decided on a medium spice which was perfect when paired with warm tortilla chips. Check out the video below of the guacamole making experience. (Ingredients: Haas avocados, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, chile serranos, lime juice)

Some highlights of the dinner that was served included some traditional Mexican dishes as well as new twist on our dessert.

Kristin Bell To Host ABC “Encore!”a One Hour Musical Television Special on ABC on December 10th

Fans of Kristin Bell from Disney’s Frozen, will want to check out a new television special that she is producing and hosting which will run on ABC this Sunday, December 10th at 10:00pm EST. This 1-hour special will reunite the cast of a high school musical and asks them to perform it again twenty years later.  Each former student will reprise the role from their original production of Stephen Sondheim and Jame LaPine’s Tony-winning musical “Into the Woods.”

Bell had this to say of the special, “My first high school musical was a watershed moment, changing the way I experienced the world from thereafter and I often think, Wouldn’t it be nice to re-live that.” She goes on to say “I wanted to produce ‘Encore!’ to help others re-experience their days on stage and re-discover the distinct bonding that comes with high school theater.”   Kristen sees the show as being about converging past dreams with present circumstances and added: “I hope viewers can laugh an see themselves among the insurance salesman, the pregnant woman and the rest of the classmates as they tackle Sondheim.”

Be sure to set aside some time on Sunday night or at least set your DVR for this special that promises to be entertaining, funny, touching and emotional.

Check Out the Starspeeder Flight Through Crait on a Newly Updated Star Tours

In news that is sure to be exciting for Star Wars fans both young and old, Disney is sharing a sneak peek of the new adventure awaiting guests on Star Tours – The Adventure Continues which will now feature new scenes inspired by the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi.   Updated scenes will include a Starspeeder caught in the middle of an epic battle and will be added to the rides at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Further details are being kept a bit hush-hush so guests will need to wait until November 17th when the new version of the attraction is finally revealed.

Disney is teasing that other changes to Star Tours could be announced this week so keep following along with Chip and Co and we promise to keep you posted.

Disney's Live-Action Pinocchio Will Need To Find A New Director

Disney’s live-action version of Pinocchio is headed back to the drawing board when it comes to finding a director for the film.

Skyfall and American Beauty director, Sam Mendes, has elected to drop out of the live-action Pinocchio film being developed at Disney.  The good news is that this film is still in the early stages of planning, leaving Disney with plenty of time to fill Mendes’ shoes.

Talk of a remake of this 1940’s classic has been circulating since 2015.  The script was written by Chris Weitz, who also penned the script for the recent live-action remake of Cinderella.

Reservations Now Open for Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Last July Disney announced about the big changes that would be coming to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort dining. As of today, reservations are now available at the new Ale & Compass Restaurant for dining on November 26, 2017, and beyond for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Formerly known as Captain’s Grille, Ale & Compass Restaurant has been completely transformed into a New England gastropub – Disney-style. The on-stage “hearth” oven area, where a select few diners can grab a seat, is the focal point of this warm and inviting space that is reminiscent of an off-shore lighthouse with rich, salvaged materials that are the decorative finishes.

The New England-inspired menus are creative and straight-up delicious — developed by the chefs of Disney’s Flavor Lab, a collaborative team responsible for all new food and beverage concepts across Disney.

Lenny DeGeorge, culinary director for the Flavor Lab, is from the Boston area and spent summers in Cape Cod — where his parents currently reside.

“The menu is inspired by all the great restaurants in the New England area that I have experienced growing up. The New England melting pot of flavors and ingredients from Italy, Portugal, and England, coupled with central Florida influences, are present on the menu that delivers modern gastropub classics.”

My first pick from the menu would be the Blueberry-Bacon Pancakes for breakfast and the Mushroom, Caramelized Onion, and Gruyere Cheeseburger for lunch.

For dinner, it is a toss-up between the Fried Chicken and Waffles with House-made Pickles and Orange-Chili Honey or the Coastal Clambake (1/2 Maine Lobster, Clams, Corn, and Potatoes).

Flavor Lab Executive Pastry Chef Stefan Riemer will not disappoint me as he created a delicious Lemon “Curd” Meringue Pie. But I bet the Twelve-Layer Chocolate Cake (Flourless Chocolate Cake and Ganache served with Milk-Coffee Chantilly) will be the guest favorite.

The expanded and beautifully re-imagined Ale & Compass Lounge is adjacent to the restaurant and will be open to guests beginning Nov. 26. A variety of original and classic cocktails are the stars, but extensive lists of New England and local beers and wine are also available for your sipping pleasure. The lounge menu offers lighter bites such as Caramelized Leek and Chorizo White Clam Hearth “Pie,” Oven Roasted Oysters, and Parker House Rolls with spreads of Bacon Jam, Pub Cheese, and Smoked Trout.
