Could There Be An All-Female Avengers Movie In The Future?

Rumors have been swirling about an all-female Avengers movie since November. A photo, taken and posted on twitter by Guardians of the Galaxy actress Karen Gillan, featuring many female Marvel actresses sparked fans to demand a female superhero movie. Included in that photo was Tessa Thompson of Thor: Ragnarok, Evangeline Lilly of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Zoe Saldana and Pm Klementieff who also starred in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, The Avengers’ Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson of Captain Marvel, and Danai Gurira who plays Okoye in Black Panther.

Danai Gurira stopped by the Ellen show recently and discussed her thoughts on the rumors of the all-female Avengers.

Gurira says, “I think it is a rumor, but the cool thing is that it’s showing there’s this hunger for that type of thing. I know that the awesome Brie Larson is filming Captain Marvel as we speak. So these things are starting to happen, and I think it’s really exciting because it shows that yeah, of course, it’s time we start seeing the perspective of the story come exclusively from women.”

Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to release it’s newest movie, Avengers: Infinity War, on April 27th.
