The Minnie Vans are quickly making their way around the Disney resorts! Starting Monday, February 19th, the Minnie Vans will start picking up Guests staying at Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter resorts.

For those still unfamiliar with the Minnie Vans, they were launched by Disney in 2017 as an alternative to Uber and standard Taxis. They are available for guests staying at select Disney resorts and remaining within Disney World property during your journey. The vans are booked via Lyft for a one-way fare of $25.

World of Disney Store at Disney Springs is Scaled Down as Refurbishment Work Begins

As we first reported last month, the World of Disney Store at Disney Springs will be scaled down temporarily as Disney starts a phased refurbishment that will see a re-imagining of the store’s interior. Renovations are starting this week and visitors are already reporting that many sections of the shop are already closed to the public.

Locals are reporting that the store has been scaled down to a fraction of its normal size. Though the open sections are still heaving with Disney merchandise, the stock is definitely limited compared to the items regularly on offer. However, Disney shoppers should remember that to compensate for the construction, visitors can also visit Ever After Jewelry Co. or The Corner Store both of which are carrying select merchandise while sections of World of Disney are closed.

As of going to print, Disney has not announced a completion date for the World of Disney renovations. It is suggested that the work will continue throughout 2018. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest news and updates regarding this exciting project!

Early this morning Slinky dog made his way through Time Square in New York City to make an appearance on “Good Morning America”. During the show, the world learned that Toy Story Land will be opening on June 30, 2018!

Toy Story Land is where kids and grownups alike will join their Toy Story Pals and experience all-new adventures. In the so-much-larger-than-life setting of Andy’s backyard, your family is invited to shrink down and become a toy alongside Woody, Buzz

In the evening hours of February 17 and the morning of February 18, a helicopter will fly over select areas of the Walt Disney World Resort, sometimes at heights as low as 250 feet, to collect video footage for future use. Guests may hear and/or see the helicopter as it flies overhead.

The helicopter is anticipated to be over several areas of Walt Disney World at various times, including the theme parks and Disney Springs at the following times:

Saturday, February 17 – evening (8:45-9:15 p.m.)
Sunday, February 18 – morning (8:40-9:10 a.m.)

The New Mary Poppins dress is definetly a fabulous creation that captures the essence of the beloved character. Obviously this new dress is practically perfect in every way. This is a white dress, which does sometimes give me pause, because I’m pretty much a walking hot mess. However, only white would work with this Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday inspired dress.

New Interactive Stage Show Version of The Little Mermaid Coming To Los Angeles In March

A new interactive stage show of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” produced by SOUND STAGE LIVE! is set to run at El Segundo Performing Arts Center in El Segundo from March 15- 18th. This exciting new production promises to be the first-ever immersive theatre experience that combines live actors and interactive animations that surround the audience. There is also an interactive element between the audience’s mobile devices and the live show.

This new production stars Chassey Bennet as is directed by Karl Warden. The four-day fully immersive theatrical experience will be hosted by YouTube star Todrick Hall. Next month Disneyland Resort welcomes back the incredibly popular Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. From March 2 to April 12, 2018, the culinary festival will bring delicious cuisine, specialty beverages and exciting entertainment to guests of all ages at Disney California Adventure Park. All throughout the six-week event, guests will experience new tasty and fun things daily as they explore the uniquely Disney festival.

The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival features a variety of offerings for the whole family to enjoy, including unique food and beverage offerings to sip and savor at more than a dozen Festival Marketplaces. Guests will experience presentations and demonstrations with celebrity chefs such as Guy Fieri, Robert Irvine, Alex Guarnaschelli and Shaun O’Neale, food and beverage tastings, winemaker dinners, beer, wine and spirit seminars, and more. Guests also will enjoy live music, entertainment, and special activities, all of which bring a “California vibe” to the festival.

At the Festival Marketplaces, guests can sample a cornucopia of California-inspired small plates with fresh, California-grown ingredients like avocado, strawberries, fragrant citrus, peppers and artisanal cheese. Guests will also discover an array of locally brewed craft beers and wines from all over the Golden State.

Family-friendly seminars at the Backlot Stage in Hollywood Land will feature a variety of topics, cooking demonstrations and more on select days throughout the festival. From growing your own vegetables to learning how to prepare some of the festival marketplace favorites, guests of all ages will get inspired or even discover a new interest during these seminars.

Another guest-favorite returning to the festival is the complimentary Junior Chef experience, with hands-on fun led by Chef Goofy, for children ages 3 to 11. Aspiring young chefs follow a recipe and mix a variety of ingredients to create magical treats that ends with a tasty surprise.

Guests looking for more palate-pleasing experiences will want to try the festival’s signature events, including new offerings such as Celebrity Chef LIVE! at the Hyperion, as well as returning favorites like the Disney Family of Wines Dinner, Sweet Sundays and the Winemaker or Brewmaster Dinners. On Sunday, February 11, two special advance screenings of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” were held in Washington, D.C., with director Ryan Coogler, executive producer Nate Moore and costume designer Ruth Carter attending. The first screening at the National Museum of African American History and Culture featured a conversation between the filmmakers and the Washington Post’s David Betancourt before the screening. At the National Air and Space Museum screening for Howard University students, moderator Ta-Nehisi Coates led a discussion with the filmmakers following the film presentation.
