If you were a fan of McNuggets back in the 90s, you may have known about the obscure dipping sauce that was released as part of a promotion for Mulan. Long had this mythical sauce laid forgotten until a Sci-Fi cartoon with a ravenous following Rick and Morty decided to remind us. I’m happy to say, we are getting another shot at tasting that sauce!
The cult craze for the little known sauce came when it was refrenced on Rick and Morty. Rick went on a tangent that boiled down to doing it for the sauce, the Mulan Szechuan sauce that is. Last year McDonald’s brought it back for a limited release, but severely underestimated the power of Rick and Morty Fans. The sauce was gone before anyone could blink, and most Disney fans only knew about it if they were also Rick and Morty fans. According to Thrillist however, the chance to try this mythical sauce inspired by a much beloved Disney film is returning!
Thrillist has all the important details about the Mulan sauce, that debuted way back in 1998. When the sauce came back last year, only select stores had very few packs to go around, it looks like they’ve decided to change that this time though. On Monday, February 26, you’ll be able to find the mythical Szechuan sauce while supplies last! Unlike last fall when each select store only got about 20 packets, Twenty million dipping sauces will be distributed to every McDonald’s in the United States, Wubba lubba dub dub!
Even if you aren’t a Rick and Morty fan, this is still fun with those of us who love Mulan! How exciting is it to be able to try a limited edition item from a beloved Disney Classic from 2 decades ago? Let’s just hope it’s not left over from then!
