Celebrate Pixar Fest at Paradise Garden Grill at California Adventure

Pixar Fest is here!  Chip and Co. are in the parks to bring the festival to you!  For a limited time enjoy some amazing Mexican dishes in honor of Disney-Pixar’s Coco  at Paradise Garden Grill. From April 13th to Septemeber 3rd Paradise Garden Grill will serve tasty treats and savory entrees for the entire family!

Menu Items Include:

  • Yucatan-inspired vaporcitos– chicken tamales steamed in banana leaves with ranchero salsa, golden rice and black beans
  • Mole verde con pollo– herb-braised chicken with golden rice, black beans and corn tortillas
  • Tortitas de papa con queso– crispy potato cakes with Oaxaca cheese, ranchero salsa, golden rice and pickled onion salad
  • Tacos de estilo callejero– sirloin beef tacos with pickled vegetables, golden rice and black beans

Celebrate Pixar Fest at Paradise Garden Grill at California Adventure

If desserts are more your taste save room for some fresh fruit with chile-lime salt and chamoy or the luscious lemon-raspberry cake! There are also specialty drinks to wash down your meal. Have an agua de Jamaica slush, a hibiscus-flavored drink, or Mexican hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.  For those 21 and older, Dos Equis Lager will also be available.

It’s definitely exciting times right now at Disneyland with Pixar Fest ready to kick off at Disney California Adventure! In addition to a new fireworks show and the return of the Paint the Night nighttime parade (and so much more!), Guests can take part in a new character meet and greet with their favorite Pixar Pals.

Today, Chip was lucky enough to be able to stop by and get us a sneak peek of the new Pixar Pals character meet and greet:

And these are some of the Pixar Pals that are scheduled to make their appearance:

  • Buzz Lightyear and Woody from “Toy Story”
  • Dug and Russell from “UP!”
  • Flik and Atta from “A Bug’s Life”

  • Mr. and Mrs. Incredible from “The Incredibles”

The Pixar Pals meet and greet is located at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure. While there, make sure to check out the all-new Paradise Garden Grill which is located right next to the Pixar Pals meet and greet!

New Patent Filed by Disney May Be Linked to Star Wars Resort

A patent has been filed by Disney Enterprises, Inc labeled “Multimedia System for Transforming Any Room Into a Show Environment”. With the announcement of a fully immersive Star Wars resort coming soon, it seems as though this patent may be another step in the design. It shows how the technology will be interactive throughout the room, involving every aspect such as lighting, sound and controls.

New Patent Filed by Disney May Be Linked to Star Wars Resort

The patent specifically mentions and emphasizes this technology’s use in hotel rooms:

“[0002] There are many settings where it is desirable to provide in-room entertainment to make people’s stay in that room or space more enjoyable. These spaces may range from waiting areas (e.g., airport and other transportation staging areas, health and other service waiting rooms, and so on) to hotel rooms to a room in someone’s home, and each of these spaces may be considered a “room” in this description. To date, the types of entertainment provided in these spaces or “in-room” has been quite limited.

[0003] For example, hotel rooms have long been rather generic environments distinguished from each other mainly by their furnishings, decor, the hotel’s location, and out-of-room amenities provided in the hotel or its grounds. Conventional thinking in the hotel industry has been that it is desirable to make their guest very comfortable while they sleep but to otherwise encourage their guests to leave their room to partake in entertaining activities such as shopping and dining on-site or elsewhere in a resort or nearby city.”

New Patent Filed by Disney May Be Linked to Star Wars Resort

There is also a section in the patent specific to integration with restaurants and park entertainment. This gives further confidence that this patent is linked to the Star Wars resort as the resort is to be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios.

“[0020] Later in the day, when reservations are not possible or the family wants to stay in, the show system may be switched to match room service with an accompanying whole-room audiovisual theming to a guest-chosen or meal-matching scene/setting (e.g., provide illusion that the room is actually a dining room at a particular restaurant or some exotic outdoor setting). Gaming can be augmented such with playing projection enhanced board games. When outdoor displays (such as resort light shows, fireworks, and so on) are being missed, the room can be used to provide an unobstructed in-room view of the light show, fireworks, or other show (e.g., as if the guests were actually at a prime spot outside for viewing this particular show), and the projected and displayed images as well as audio track output from the surround sound audio system provide an immersive multimedia show experience that can fill the entire room (or at least be provided using an entire wall as a display surface).”

Even though patents are never guarantees that the technology will actually be developed, this particular idea seems to be in line with Disney’s vision of future resorts, including Star Wars. It could also be used in other new Disney resorts as well as the current ones.

Toy Story Land by Emoji by Disney

In a world where a message is better conveyed with a little smiley face than any word found in the dictionary, emojis have become a way of life. In anticipation of the grand opening of Toy Story Land, Emoji by Disney has brought us this little emoji video to give us a taste of what we have all been waiting for.

Toy Story Land is set to open on June 30th in Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests will be “shrunken” down to the size of Andy’s toys as they explore his backyard and make stops at Slinky Dog Dash Rollercoaster, Alien Swirling Saucers, and even grab a bite to eat at Woody’s Lunch Box.

Now, sit back and relax, and enjoy A Day at Toy Story Land as told by Emoji by Disney.

One of the most anticipated items is the new Green Alien Light-Up Tumbler, that is not only at Pixar Fest, but coming to Hollywood Studio’s Toy Story Land as well.

This cup is like the Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Rose tumbler that was very popular last year. It has a dome lid, with a button that starts a flashing green light. A toy machine claw is attached to the lid perched over a an oooh-ing Green Alien.

Häagen-Dazs is Offering Two New Dairy-Free Ice Cream Flavors

For a limited time, Häagen-Dazs will be scooping up two new dairy-free ice cream flavors at their shop in Disney Springs.

From now through May 8th you will be able to stop by and indulge in Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle or Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not try a scoop of each?

Häagen-Dazs is located at Disney Springs West Side next to the Star Wars Galactic Outpost and right near Wetzel’s Pretzels. The Häagen-Dazs menu serves up all different shakes (with or without toppings), sundaes, scoops on a cone or in a dish, and even a Brownie Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich. And, as you can see, in addition to your regular ice cream, Häagen-Dazs also offers up a few dairy-free options as well.

The new flavors will only be available through May 8th. Will they perform well? Will we see them again after the 8th? Only time will tell as guests try out and respond to these chocolatey dairy-free treats.

I am a huge fan of Magic Shots at the Disney parks! I make sure to try them all. So I got super excited when I found out there was a new one at select Disney PhotoPass photographers stationed at Rafiki’s Planet Watch! Seeing as how my daughter is obsessed with Pua doesn’t help much either…

Magic Shots are a fun addition to your vacation souvenirs and, best of all, are included in Memory Maker!

Here are a few things to keep in mind for Magic Shots:

  • Some locations may only be staffed intermittently by PhotoPass photographers.
  • PhotoPass photographers taking Character Experience photos will not be available for Magic Shots.
  • If you want a Magic Shot, ask for one!
  • Remember, Magic Shots are included with Memory Maker. Memory Maker is $169 if purchased more than three days prior to your vacation or $199 for immediate activation of Memory Maker or after your trip.

The New ESPN App is Now Available on Select Platforms

Today is the launch of the new ESPN app.  This completely re-imagined experience includes the seamless integration of ESPN+, the first-ever multi-sport, direct-to-consumer premium subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International group, in partnership with ESPN.

With an elevated digital sports experience, this app becomes the premier, all-in-one digital sports platform for fans, giving them easy access to all of ESPN’s news, scores, analysis, video and audio content. Focusing on an enhanced design and keeping mobility in mind, the new ESPN app and ESPN+ are available across mobile and connected living room devices—with an optimized experience for each platform.

“This next-generation app is ESPN’s most sophisticated and elegant digital product experience, and a central piece of our next era of innovation,” said James Pitaro, ESPN President and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks. “No one is in a better position than ESPN to serve sports fans. With this launch, fans will find a re-imagined, easy to use and increasingly personalized experience that puts all of ESPN’s incredible content at their fingertips like never before. With the exciting introduction of ESPN+, they’ll also get more sports content than ever, with direct access to thousands of live games, incredible original programs and an unmatched on-demand library, all at a great price.”

A highly personalized experience is in store for mobile users. This experience begins on the home screen, which features a dynamic feed of relevant ESPN content and coverage—including scores, news, video clips, live events, statistics and more—that balances what is important to each individual fan and the most compelling content that ESPN knows sports fans need. There will also be three tiers of video access available on the mobile app. All three tiers are powered by BAMTECH Media’s best-in-class video platform.  These tiers include: video clips and highlights for all users; “TV Everywhere Streaming” of live and on-demand content from ESPN’s U.S. linear and digital networks for pay TV subscribers; and ESPN+, for the direct-to-consumer streaming service’s subscribers.

ESPN+ is being backed by American Express at launch.  It offers fans thousands of additional live events, on-demand content and original programming not available on ESPN’s linear TV or digital networks. It will include live sports events, high-quality original shows and films, exclusive studio programs and and an unmatched on-demand library that includes the entire 30 for 30 archive, the best of ESPN’s award-winning newsmagazine program, E:60, and storytelling brand, SC Featured, and The Masters films, annual recaps of 57 years of The Masters, beginning with Arnold Palmer’s 1960 victory, and going right up until 2017.

“For the launch of ESPN+, our focus has been on applying the innovations in direct-to-consumer technology we’ve built at BAMTECH over the years to create an all-new best-in-class consumer experience that brings sports fans more of the content they love, wherever, whenever they want,” added Michael Paull, President, BAMTECH Media. “ESPN+ launches with several exciting product features, including an upgraded HD stream quality to make the action crisper and cleaner, and decreased video load time, getting fans into the live action faster.”

Subscribers of ESPN+ will receive app and streaming experience enhancements such as HD streaming; functionality that allows users to pause, rewind, restart and even multitask while streaming; limited advertising throughout the entire ESPN App or website; as well as the ability to also subscribe to additional premium streaming services like MLB.TV (and NHL.TV, beginning in 2018–19), all within the ESPN app environment.

The ESPN App with ESPN+ launches today on the following devices and platforms, with more to follow:

  • Amazon: Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV smart TVs and Fire Tablets (4th generation and newer)
  • Apple: iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. The ESPN App with ESPN+ will also be supported in the Apple TV App on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
  • Google: Android phones, Android TV and Chromecast

ESPN+ is available for a seven-day free trial, followed by a subscription fee of just $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year, with the ability to cancel at any time. During the first week of launch (April 12–18), fans are being offered a special extended 30-day free trial subscription backed by American Express.

A brand-new, action-packed poster is now available for Incredibles 2!

In Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

“You’ve Got a Friend… in Them!” With Pixar Fest officially kicking off tomorrow at Disneyland, Friday, April 13, we wanted to see how Disneyland Cast Members are getting ready for the biggest Pixar celebration in Disney Parks history!

From the looks of things, these Cast Members are just excited as us for the start of Pixar Fest! It’s been all hands on deck for Cast Members and Disney Imagineers to bring the magic of Pixar movies to life. Let’s take a closer look:

Disney has been offering Cast Members “roadshows” to learn more about Pixar Fest and of course, preview some of the limited edition treats – Pixar Fest Celebration Cake, anyone? In addition, Cast Members received “best buddy” socks to commemorate the Fest. Take a look above how the custodial staff even got in the Pixar spirit! So cute!
