ABC Pulls the Plug on ‘Roseanne’

After the star of “Roseanne,” Roseanne Barr, went on a racist Twitter rant this morning ABC has announced that the show has been canceled. The targets of Barr’s rant were former President Obama aide, Valerie Jett, and Chelsea Clinton. The Tweets have since been deleted. Barr also Tweeted an apology for her actions and stated she is getting off Twitter.

However, her apology was too late for ABC. Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment, released the following statement: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

The cancelation of “Roseanne” comes after it hit airways again this past Spring after a long hiatus with stellar ratings and reviews. This development comes after it was just recently announced that the show would be coming back for a second season this Fall.

For just about a year now, we’ve been tracking the progress of the room refurbishment project at Disney’s Pop Century Resort in Walt Disney World. Today, we are happy to report that this massive overhaul is nearly complete!

As of today, room refurbishments for Building One in the 50’s section is completely closed. Here are some photos we were able to snap from over the weekend showing the progress:

NBA Experience Disney Springs

The NBA Experience Disney Springs construction is in full swing! Disney Quest closed its doors forever almost a year ago and construction began on this new attraction at Disney Springs.  In that time it appears a decent amount of progress has been made (but I’m not a construction expert so take that with a grain of salt).  We’ve got another year or so until this building is open to guests but we’re already practicing our slam dunk!

When complete, this state-of-the-art space will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store and an adjacent restaurant! It’s one of several ways Disney Springs is still growing and adding new experiences to entertain and delight guests!

The building design itself inspired by the modern architecture of new NBA arenas around the country. The hope is that the design captures the same spirit and energizing impact, while creating an unmistakable and entertaining connection to the NBA in a way that only Disney can.

“We are inspired by the design of the new building and the energy that it will bring to the West Side of Disney Springs,” said Senior Vice President of Disney Springs and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Maribeth Bisienere.

And we’ve got a newer construction update for you! From these photo you can see that it looks like most of the framing of the building is complete. We are excited to see the walls start going up!

Check out this Blueberry Lemon Cupcake from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort at the Gasparilla Island Grill!  Disney resorts are the best places to find a great cupcake! This fresh blueberry and lemon mixture is the perfect combination of sweet and tart that leaves you wanting more.  We are always on the lookout for a good treat while we are resort hopping. Recently, the resorts have stepped up their game!  The fresh lemon scent of the frosting hits you immediately and the rock candy sprinkles add an additional layer of sweetness to level out any tartness.   The cake itself is plain vanilla, but inside was a blueberry filling that moistened up the entire cake.  The refreshing treat is a great sweeter version of a blueberry muffin.

Progress of Disney Skyliner at Pop Centurt and Art of Animation Station

The Disney Skyliner will be the newest transportation option for guests providing a gondola lift system that will connect multiple points across the Walt Disney World property. When completed, the Disney Skyliner will connect Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, including the new DVC Riviera Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort to Hollywood Studios and Epcot’s International Gateway. Guests will be able to get a bird’s eye view of the Disney Resort on their way to their destination. And many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters. This is especially exciting to both Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts in the Value category as they rely solely on bus transportation to and from the parks.

We stopped by this weekend to check on the construction progress being made. We found this great piece of concept art displayed of the future Skyliner station. It will be located on the Generation Gap bridge in between the two resorts.

Disney has not announced an official completion date for this project but once it is open it will connect Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and the future DVC property, Disney’s Riveria Resort located next to Coronado Springs.

New Safety Video for Splash Mountain

In case you haven’t ridden in a while, there is a New Safety Video for Splash Mountain that you can view while you’re waiting in line. The video is just beyond that “cave” hallway with lovely air conditioning. My favorite part during the summer!

The new safety video pretty much just tells you how many people can fit per row and to make sure you pull down that lap bar. Check out the video below!

Take off on a rollicking log flume ride featuring characters and songs from the classic Disney film Song of the South. But watch out, you will get wet!
