Magic Kingdom’s Emporium Unveils New Cash Registers and Refreshed Look

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom’s Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A., will notice significant changes as the first room of the iconic merchandise shop has undergone a refurbishment, revealing new double cash registers and updated aesthetics. This renovation aims to streamline the checkout process and improve guest flow within the bustling store.

The most notable alteration in this initial section of the Emporium is the addition of an entire new row of cash registers, effectively doubling the previous capacity. The old built-in shelves that once lined the area have been removed, creating more open space. In their place, a series of smaller, lighter brown wood shelving units now form the queue for the new checkout lines, guiding guests into an aisle flanked by two rows of registers.

As part of the ongoing refurbishment efforts throughout the Emporium, this renovated space also boasts new tile flooring. The updated design features brown squares with white diamond-shaped tiles, a departure from the older light-colored square and dark diamond patterns. A striking row of green diamond-shaped tiles against a white background, bordered by beige and black, elegantly separates the old and new flooring. In the center of the floor, a decorative “carpet” pattern of beige, blue, and white tiles adds a touch of classic charm.

The old checkout counters along the back wall have been replaced with new, dark wood counters topped with light marble countertops, mirroring the store’s traditional style. The new second checkout row is positioned a few feet away, facing the first. Both feature decorative 3D elements on their front panels and metal grates around the register podiums. While the built-in shelves on the wall behind the counters remain, they now feature new “The Emporium” signage with black cursive lettering within a circle set against white panels, prominently displaying exclusive Starbucks tumblers.

The wall on the right side of the room, which previously held built-in merchandise shelves, has been cleared to provide more waiting space for guests, and now features two decorative mirrors. The red and beige arabesque wallpaper remains the same design as before, maintaining the Emporium’s familiar ambiance. A new stained glass “Register” ceiling lamp has been added to this area, although similar lights have always been a fixture in this room. Another one of these beautiful lamps now hangs a few yards away at the opposite end of the register row, increasing the number of such lights over these counters from one to two.

Disney Moves Around the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom

These changes are consistent with other refurbishment work across the Emporium, indicating Disney’s strategic efforts to streamline navigation and increase checkout efficiency. With the first room now complete, construction walls have moved to block the back half of the Emporium’s center room. This area previously housed a large circular checkout counter, and it is anticipated that this counter, along with some of the surrounding built-in shelves, will be removed in favor of smaller, more linear counter designs, further enhancing the store’s flow for guests.

Disney has officially announced a closing timeframe for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, providing a clearer timeline for its anticipated transformation into a new attraction starring The Muppets.

Construction Permit Reveals More Details for Reimagining Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster into Muppets Coaster 2

According to a new Disney press release, the iconic indoor roller coaster is now officially set to close sometime in 2026. While a specific date was not provided, the release also stated that the rethemed version of the coaster starring The Muppets is slated to open by the end of that same year, suggesting a relatively fast-paced project.

This announcement confirms that guests will still have plenty of time to experience the current super-stretch limo ride to an Aerosmith concert before it closes for its reimagining. As of now, the Walt Disney World website has not been updated with this new information.

WDW DHS Muppets Rock n Roller Coaster Poster

The new attraction will mark the first-ever Disney ride centered on The Muppets. As depicted on a previously released poster, the storyline will feature Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy teaming up with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem – Floyd Pepper, Janice, Lips, Animal, and Zoot – for a “rockin’ music festival.” It is possible other Muppet characters could appear in the attraction’s pre-show or during the ride experience.

Further details confirm that the transformation will extend beyond the ride itself, as The Muppets will also take over the Rock Around the Shop merchandise location currently attached to the coaster’s show building.

This announcement comes on the final day of operation for MuppetVision 3D, which is set to close permanently on June 7, 2025. While one Muppet experience ends, fans can now look forward to the gang returning to the park in a major new E-ticket attraction in 2026.

Disneyland Resort is developing a new parking structure and transportation hub on the east side of the property, utilizing part of the existing Manchester cast member parking lot.

This upcoming facility aims to significantly improve guest arrival, offering around 6,000 parking spaces, designated shuttle and rideshare zones, streamlined security screening, and direct traffic access from Disney Way. Ultimately, this initiative seeks to alleviate parking challenges and boost traffic efficiency within the resort.

As the artist’s concept rendering clearly illustrates, this new parking and transportation hub will also include a pedestrian bridge spanning Harbor Boulevard. This bridge is designed to usher guests into an all-new esplanade arrival experience, significantly enhancing their entry to the resort. Beyond resort access, the bridge will also offer convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard.

“Forces of Nature by AntiGravity,” EPCOT’s captivating acrobatic show, concluded its run on June 5, 2025, after delighting audiences in World Celebration Gardens since its debut in April 2024. Originally slated for a shorter engagement, the show’s popularity led to an extension through this summer, allowing more guests to experience its breathtaking blend of acrobatics, dance, and aerial stunts.

As confirmed by Walt Disney World Guest Relations and posts from AntiGravity Theater’s Instagram account, “Forces of Nature by AntiGravity” at EPCOT concluded its run on June 5, 2025.

This captivating acrobatic show, located in World Celebration Gardens, brought Mother Nature and the elements to life through the incredible talents of its performers. It first debuted in spring 2024 and was initially slated to end in March 2025. However, due to its popularity, AntiGravity announced in February that performances would be extended through the summer, allowing more guests to experience its unique blend of artistry and athleticism.

The show’s description on the AntiGravity Orlando website read,
