MuppetVision 3D is Outta Here – Grand Avenue Now Fully Blocked Off for Monstropolis Transformation
It’s officially lights out for the Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Following the final performances of MuppetVision 3D on June 7, Disney wasted no time—rolling planters now block off the entire left section of Grand Avenue, and the entire area has been completely scrubbed from the park’s physical and digital maps.
Guests walking down Grand Avenue on June 8 were greeted by a row of rolling planters spanning the brick pathway into what was once the Muppets Courtyard. Cast Members are now stationed near the area to prevent curious fans from sneaking a peek, and green trash bins have even been moved in to reinforce the closure. While no demolition or vertical construction has visibly begun just yet, it’s clear this isn’t just a temporary closure. Disney’s preparing to bring Monstropolis to life, and this is step one.
As previously announced, the new land will be themed to Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and will include a suspended door coaster (yes, that door vault!) along with an unannounced new show replacing MuppetVision 3D. Add in the recent shuttering of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and Grand Avenue is looking more like a clean slate than ever before.
What’s left? The only survivors on this block are BaseLine Tap House and Ice Cold Hydraulics Hosted by Coca-Cola, both still holding strong as locations #26 and #27 on the newly updated park guidemaps. Every other trace of the Muppets has been wiped—MuppetVision 3D is no longer listed on the Walt Disney World website, and clicking old links now brings up everyone’s favorite blue alien and his “Someone Ate the Page!” error.
So while the Muppets may be gone for now, Disney isn’t saying goodbye forever. In a surprise announcement, the company confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be reimagined in 2026… with the Muppets starring in the retheme. So if you’re feeling blue over Gonzo and gang, hang tight—because they’re gearing up for a whole new gig.
Universal Studios Hollywood Unleashes a JAWS-dropping Menu for Mega Movie Summer 2025
If you’re headed to Universal Studios Hollywood this summer, you might want to skip lunch before you arrive—because the brand-new Universal Mega Movie Summer event (running June 13 through August 10) is serving up blockbuster bites inspired by your favorite films, and they look fin-tastic.
Taking over Hollywood & Dine, the temporary Amity Island Café is ready to make a splash with a menu dedicated to JAWS, just in time for the 50th anniversary of the original summer blockbuster. Here’s what you can sink your teeth into:
🦞 Lobster Roll – A buttery toasted bun is stuffed with creamy lobster salad and paired with golden seasoned pub fries. It’s fresh, flavorful, and practically screams “seaside summer.”
🍩 Amity Beach Lifesaver Donut – This clever vanilla-glazed treat is decorated like a life preserver. It’s the cutest way to survive a sugar craving.
🦈 Shark Fin Funnel Cake – This one might be our favorite. A crispy maple cinnamon funnel cake topped with blueberry compote, whipped cream, and a candy shark fin emerging from the waves.
🥄 Amity Island Parfait – Layers of blueberry mascarpone mousse, fresh berries, vanilla cake, and strawberry topping create this adorable shoreline-inspired dessert, complete with a mini edible postcard from Amity Island.
🍹 Shark Bite Cocktail – A tropical punch of rum, coconut water, and guava purée topped with a shark lollipop for those 21+ looking to toast the season.
🥤 Amity Island Open Water (Mocktail) – A kid-friendly option with blue curacao syrup and Sprite, also topped with a shark lollipop.
But that’s not all! Over at Jurassic Café, a Jurassic World Rebirth menu ties into the July 2 theatrical release, and Jurassic World – The Ride will feature a new “Mosasaurus Splash” element, with added water cannons and “spitters” to soak guests in prehistoric style.
This summer, whether you’re braving the beaches of Amity or running from raptors, Universal’s Mega Movie Summer is dishing up thrills — and flavors — worthy of the silver screen.
Rolling planters have appeared near the Tiny Train Town in EPCOT
There’s something a-train-ing in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion — and no, it’s not just the bratwurst calling your name. If you’ve strolled past the beloved miniature village in recent days, you might’ve noticed some leafy new guests standing tall: rolling planters have been placed in front of the tiny train town, blocking off a grassy platform area. While no signage has appeared (yet), this certainly has the markings of prep work ahead of EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival, which kicks off on August 28.
The grassy patch tucked behind the planters appears newly refreshed, possibly prepped for the return of a themed display — think booths, miniature festival signage, or other delightful decor that’s become a seasonal tradition in this spot. Last year featured Food & Wine-style kiosks in scale with the tiny town — an adorable nod that delighted detail-oriented guests.
In addition to the planters, eagle-eyed trainspotters might catch a few rolling changes on the tracks. One of the locomotives is now a dark blue model adorned with floral artwork, replacing the previously seen red train on that same track. It’s not unusual for the lineup of trains to get rotated or updated, but the timing alongside the new construction staging has definitely piqued our interest.
So while the residents of Tiny Train Town are keeping quiet for now, it’s safe to say some small-scale magic is on the way. We’ll be keeping our binoculars trained on this area for the first signs of what’s chugging into town next!
Disney’s Next Big Thing: “Electric Bloom” Series Announced
Get ready for a new beat on Disney Channel! Disney Branded Television just dropped the teaser and poster for the upcoming comedy series, “Electric Bloom” (which you might remember by its working title, “How We Became the Biggest Band in the World”). This music-driven original series kicks off with its first two episodes on Thursday, July 10, at 8:35 p.m. EDT/PDT, right after the world premiere of “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires.” New episodes will then air weekly. If you prefer streaming, Disney+ will debut the series on September 17 with the first 13 episodes of the season, and the rest arriving in October.
“Electric Bloom” follows the three members of the now mega-famous pop group Electric Bloom as they look back and tell the story of their band and friendship, starting with the day they all met in high school. The girls go on a journey to becoming the biggest band in the world and the best friends in the universe.
The series stars Lumi Pollack (“The Fallout”) as perfectly put-together Posey, Carmen Sanchez as school rebel Jade, Ruby Marino as quirky and optimistic Tulip, and Nathaniel Buescher (“Circuit Breakers”) as class crush and band supporter Lucas.
Creators Eric Friedman, Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis serve as executive producers along with iconic songwriter Diane Warren and Bahareh Batmang. Warren also writes the majority of the songs for the series, including all songs in the pilot and the theme song. Jody Hahn directed and executive-produced the pilot.
New Hollywood Studios Guidemap Leaps Ahead—Muppets Vanish Before Final Bow
Well, that escalated quickly.
In what seems like a case of Disney being a little too eager to move on, the new Disney’s Hollywood Studios guidemap has dropped a day early—and fans of the Muppets might want to brace themselves. The updated map already omits MuppetVision 3D and PizzeRizzo, even though both are still open (for one final day) until June 7, 2025. Talk about a curtain call before the curtain even falls!
This map switcheroo likely stems from something simple—like the park running out of the old maps and stocking the new batch early—but it’s still a surprising move, especially for those making a special trip to say goodbye to Kermit and the gang.
Goodbye Grand Avenue, Hello Monstropolis
The changes on the map are subtle but telling:
MuppetVision 3D and PizzeRizzo are completely removed, replaced on the visual park layout with a nondescript cluster of trees.
Grand Avenue is drastically reduced, now appearing as a narrow street connecting Commissary Lane to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Only two locations remain listed in the area: BaseLine Tap House (#27) and Ice Cold Hydraulics Hosted by Coca-Cola (#26).
For longtime fans, it’s a bittersweet sight. The iconic Muppet-themed attractions are already being erased from printed history before the physical demolition even begins. This update all but confirms how imminent the transformation to Monstropolis, the upcoming Monsters, Inc. land, really is.
Previous version of the map with Muppet Vision 3D Listed
A Villainous New Cover
In another nod to the park’s evolving entertainment offerings, the front cover of the new guidemap features Maleficent, styled in her ensemble from the Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After nighttime show. The rest of the map appears standard in layout and function, with the usual park policies, transportation info, and attraction listings—just with a little more breathing room now that Kermit and Rizzo have been ghosted.
So while today may still be the technical last day to enjoy the Muppets Courtyard, Disney’s printed materials suggest they’ve already turned the page—literally.
Disney’s Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Ending Sparks Debate, But Honors the True Spirit of Ohana
Disney’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch landed in theaters this past Memorial Day weekend, making a splash at the box office with an estimated $183 million, setting a new record for the holiday. However, despite its commercial success, the film’s ending has ignited a passionate discourse among fans, with many questioning if it truly honors the spirit of the beloved 2002 animated original.
The initial outcry stems from the significant departure from the animated film’s straightforward “happily ever after” conclusion, where Nani, Lilo, and Stitch embrace their newfound family and live together without apparent struggle. The live-action version, however, takes a more grounded approach, acknowledging the harsh realities of life, particularly in Hawaii, which boasts the highest cost of living in the United States.
In the new film, Lilo (Maia Kealoha) and Nani (Sydney Agudong) are portrayed as orphans following their parents’ tragic car accident. Nani, thrust into the role of both mother and sister, sacrifices a university scholarship on the mainland to fulfill her “kuleana” (responsibility) as Lilo’s guardian. Yet, as a young adult herself, Nani grapples with the immense pressure of balancing a full-time job, managing bills and insurance, and raising a spirited six-year-old. The arrival of Stitch, an alien dog wreaking havoc and jeopardizing Nani’s work prospects, only exacerbates her overwhelming situation.
Faced with mounting difficulties, Nani is confronted with the stark reality that the state might soon intervene and take Lilo into care. Recognizing the painful history of governments separating Indigenous families, screenwriters Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes introduce the character of Tutu (Amy Hill), Lilo and Stitch’s long-time neighbor and family friend. This addition serves as a crucial element in upholding the true meaning of “ohana” within Hawaiian culture, where family extends beyond blood relatives to include community and chosen bonds.
The True Meaning of “Ohana” Unfolds
Director Dean Fleischer Camp emphasized to Cinemablend that Tutu’s longstanding presence in their lives authenticates the story, reflecting the strong community support prevalent in Hawaii. While Nani initially considers relinquishing Lilo’s guardianship to the state at the social worker Mrs. Kekoa’s (Tia Carrere) suggestion, Tutu steps forward, offering to foster or adopt Lilo. Nani, in her disbelief, believes she can manage with some assistance, her focus solely on raising Lilo.
However, it’s the gentle insistence from both Tutu and Lilo that eventually persuades Nani to pursue higher education. With Lilo now under the stable care of a trusted family friend, Nani is given the opportunity to utilize her “akami” (smart brain) and achieve her long-deferred dream of a degree. This pivotal decision, though initially met with hesitation from Nani, is a testament to the family’s unwavering support.
No One Left Behind, Especially Nani
While some fans argue that this ending disrespects the original film’s mantra of “nobody gets left behind or forgotten,” the live-action adaptation beautifully redefines it. Lilo is not abandoned; she remains surrounded by her family, including Stitch, Tutu, and their expanded ‘ohana in Cobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance) and Pleakley (Billy Magnussen). Nani, though physically separated for a time, is merely a “portal blast away” from her sister, with plans to reunite as a physical family.
In fact, the ending pays a profound tribute to the phrase by ensuring that Nani herself is not left behind in her own life and dreams. Before Lilo became her responsibility, Nani had a full scholarship to study Marine Biology at the University of California, San Diego. She enjoyed surfing with friends and David (Kaipo Dudoit), her potential boyfriend. All of this was set aside to care for her sister. The film highlights the often-overlooked sacrifices and burnout faced by caretakers.
Crucially, the film also makes it clear that Nani never resents Lilo or makes her feel like a burden. Despite sibling squabbles, their bond remains strong, with Nani consistently reaffirming her love for Lilo. Nani is portrayed not as a villain, but as a dedicated sister doing her absolute best, and the ending grants her the chance to pursue her aspirations.
Stitch, in this adaptation, acts as the catalyst, stitching together the community for both Lilo and Nani. His arrival not only brings joy to Lilo but also forces Nani to acknowledge her need for help and finally accept it.
Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch may diverge from the childhood nostalgia of the original, but it offers a realistic (aliens aside) and deeply authentic portrayal of what “Ohana” truly embodies: the enduring power of family, community, and the collective support that ensures no one, especially the caretaker, is left behind.
What are your thoughts on this updated ending and its portrayal of Ohana?

Germany Pavilion’s Trash Game Is Wunderbar Thanks to Smart Solar-Powered Cans
There’s something waste-fully wonderful happening at EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion—and it’s not just the bratwurst. Over the past few months, there’s been a noticeable uptick in the number of solar-powered, smart trash cans quietly popping up throughout the area, and let’s just say…they’re truly the future of theme park cleanliness.
These futuristic bins come equipped with solar panels on top, which provide all the juice they need to operate—no strings (or cords) attached. The cans allow for hands-free trash disposal via a foot pedal, making them more hygienic and more accessible. For Cast Members, a built-in handle grants access to the interior, but here’s where it really gets high-tech: LED lights on the cans show fill levels (green for good, yellow for halfway there, and red for time to empty), and that data is also sent remotely to custodial teams. The result? Smarter, more efficient cleaning routes with fewer unnecessary trash runs.
Even better, these new bins don’t just collect trash—they compact it as it builds up, significantly increasing capacity and reducing the number of times they need to be emptied. It’s all part of Disney’s ongoing sustainability mission, cutting down on energy use and overall carbon footprint, one solar-powered compactor at a time.
While we first spotted a few of these bins back in December, the recent spread across the Germany Pavilion suggests we might be looking at a test run before a park-wide rollout. And if that’s the case, we say: bring it on, because trash has never looked so eco-chic.
