New Build-Your-Own Gauntlets Have Landed At Disney California Adventure Park

Avengers fans are in for a heroic treat. New Build-Your-Own Gauntlets inspired by some of our favorite Marvel heroes are now available at Disney California Adventure. Available at The Collector’s Warehouse, guests can now use the Star Industry’s gauntlet blueprint to create their very own!

Guests can assemble the gauntlets into one of four different characters, Iron Man, Captan America, Spider-man, and Hulk. Or for the creative hero, you can mix-and-match the pieces from the different sets to create your own unique gauntlet. These gauntlets don’t just look cool, they are packed full of super heroic powers too! There are sounds, and lights, and you can even add on a projectile launcher.

The Gauntlet set up is very similar to other build-your-own stations we’ve seen in the past like the Light Sabers, and Build-your-own DROIDs. The build center has directions posted so that you can piece together your very own gauntlet! These fun new build-your-own toys retail for $24.99, or $39.99 with the extra projectile launcher!

Tron Coaster Support Beams Now Visible in Magic Kingdom

If you have been to the Magic Kingdom lately, you may have noticed the construction happening around the park. The construction for the new TRON coaster is certainly moving right along and now, there are support beams visible for this new coaster. Over the last several months, we have watched as the ground has been cleared as the construction went into full force.

This new attraction is expected to be similar to the very popular TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disney, where guests board their own lightcycle for a high speed ride going both inside and outside. It was first announced in 2017 at D23 and is much-anticipated. It is expected to open in 2021, as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World.

The coaster is being added in Tomorrowland, near Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Speedway. The construction has impacted some other attractions including the Walt Disney World Railroad.

While the opening of this new attraction is still a few years away, stay tuned for more updates! It is sure to be a great addition to Magic Kingdom.

Russo Brothers confirm a Gay character will be in a upcoming Marvel Movie

Joe and Anthony Russo reveal on a Sirius XM radio program for Entertainment Weekly that a character will be revealed as gay in an upcoming Marvel film, and they suggested it’s a person fans already know about.

The topic was brought up when the hosts asked Joe Russo about the part he played in Avengers: Endgame as the grieving man in Captain America’s therapy session that was starting over after the loss of his loved ones. Joe’s character talked about his dinner date with another man and how both were still mourning 5 years after the big snap.

Last summer Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said two openly gay characters would be revealed: “Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen.”

So that makes us wonder who the other openly gay character will be.

It is unlike any private island the world has ever seen and the first in the cruise line’s new Perfect Day Island Collection of next-level private destinations around the world. The $250 transformation features a combination of first-of-their-kind thrills and one-of-a-kind ways to chill. Guests have the opportunity to create their very own perfect beach day.

Adventure Pool – This interactive obstacle course on water features floating lily pads, a rock-climbing wall and two swing ropes for guests to bounce, climb and swing to their heart’s content.

The Perfect Day at CocoCay also features the following:

Up, Up and Away – Everyone scores a view unlike any other from a colorful helium balloon securely tethered to the ground by cable. The signature attraction floats up to 450 feet above Perfect Day at CocoCay, allowing guests to take in the island from the highest vantage point in The Bahamas and capture the ultimate selfie with the private island and the pristine blue waters of The Bahamas as their backdrop.

Oasis Lagoon (the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean) – Whether looking to spend time with family, share a few cocktails with friends or simply sit back under the tropical sun. Sunbathers can make their way through three distinct coves, each with a vibe of their own, and swim to the beat of the underwater sound system. Families with small children can splash through water features and jump right into the excitement at the kid-friendly beach entry. On the south side of Oasis Lagoon, pool-goers can sip a frosty Coco Loco at the expansive swim-up bar, catch some sunrays on one of three swim-up islands with in-water loungers, or treat themselves to total relaxation in a private cabana, complete with its own cabana attendant.

Perfect Day at CocoCay features multiple dining options. Captain Jack’s is the island hangout and meet-up spot where guests can grab a drink at the rowboat bar, settle into a rope swing seat or snack on the house specialty – chicken wings and fries dipped in signature sauces like mango-habanero and Caribbean jerk. Live jams and harborside views put vacationers in an island state of mind in no time. Skipper’s Grill features complimentary lunchtime favorites like salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers, fresh fruit and desserts.

Little ones also have the chance to experience their very own Perfect Day! Captain Jill’s Galleon is an interactive play structure that includes three dry slides, 16 water cannons, rope features, and a splash pad.

Splashaway Bay is hands down the coolest aqua park at sea! The adventures that can be had here are bigger than ever with more fountains, sprinklers, and geysers. There are also two massive drench buckets and five waterslides, including three racers. This complimentary attraction is located along the harbor between Captain Jack’s and Skipper’s Grill and offers a multitude of seating and tables for families.

There is even a 1,600-foot-long zip-line course that crisscrosses the island!

Chill Island is the perfect island escape that travelers normally dream about and now it can be experienced in real life! The largest dining venue on the island, Chill Grill, is located here and serves beachside dining at shaded picnic tables on the sand. Beach day favorites can also be found here including, snorkeling, jet-skiing excursions as well as cabanas and daybeds under the shade. Dreams are made complete here with beach bars that include roaming bartenders!

South Beach is where the competition heats up! It features volleyball, beachside basketball, soccer, and paddle boarding. The Snack Shack can be visited here to grab a quick snack or guests can wade out to the floating bar to cool off and grab a drink. There are also beachfront cabanas that guests can lounge in here.

Believe it or not, there is even more that is set to open! The Coco Beach Club is scheduled to open in December. Guests will experience an upscale take on the island’s authentic Caribbean vibes. Included at the Coco Beach Club are:

Overwater Cabanas –The first overwater cabanas in The Bahamas will offer discerning guests a new level of laidback luxury. Discovery Cove Announces Birth of Spotted Eagles Ray Pups

As families around the world prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, Discovery Cove® is thrilled to announce the birth of two spotted eagle rays, a threatened marine species which is a part of the Species Survival Plan® (SSP) of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Born April 2nd, the pups are receiving around-the-clock, world-class veterinary care from Discovery Cove’s team.

Spotted eagle rays are in the fish family, recognizable for their flat, wide bodies and unique spotted coloration. Like fingerprints, each spotted eagle ray has its own one of a kind pattern. This is the first birth for proud parents Nerina and Apollo.

“The exciting birth of these eagle ray pups demonstrates our company’s commitment to conservation and species survival efforts,” said Kyle Miller, President of Discovery Cove Orlando. “I’m very proud of our animal care specialists and veterinary team for developing leading-edge reproductive health expertise, technologies and capabilities. We are helping to save this species from extinction and look forward to seeing these pups grow and thrive at Discovery Cove.”

Immediately following the pups’ birth, the Discovery Cove veterinary and zoological teams performed a successful neonatal wellness exam, all part of the general health care all animals receive in keeping with Discovery Cove’s high standards of care.

“The work done by zoological facilities like Discovery Cove is critical for the protection of Spotted Eagle Rays and other animal populations worldwide,” said Dr. Candice Dorsey, Senior VP of Conservation, Management and Welfare Sciences at the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). AZA administers over 500 Species Survival Plan® programs, including one for Spotted Eagle Rays. “Like coral reefs and many other ocean dwellers, Spotted Eagle Rays are a threatened species. AZA-accredited facilities like Discovery Cove are working cooperatively through the SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction program to help save rays from extinction. Discovery Cove is to be commended for its investment in and contribution to research, education, and conservation efforts that help protect and rescue species at risk and their habitats.”

AZA’s Species Survival Program oversees the population management of select species to maintain healthy and genetically diverse animal populations within the zoo community and to enhance conservation of the species in the wild. AZA conservation partners that are involved in SSP programs engage in cooperative population management and conservation efforts that include research, public education, reintroduction and field conservation projects.

Walt Disney World Resort honors top Disney VoluntEARS with $2,500 grants to gift to the nonprofit organizations of their choosing

While Walt Disney World Resort VoluntEARS are recognized year-round for their dedication to serving the Central Florida community, it’s only once a year top Disney VoluntEARS receive the highly sought-after title of “VoluntEARS of the Year.”

Each year, Walt Disney World Resort honors a VoluntEAR of the Year, VoluntEARS Team of the Year and VoluntEAR Family of the Year for taking their Central Florida community commitments above and beyond.

The 2019 VoluntEAR of the Year, VoluntEARS Team of the Year and VoluntEAR Family of the Year recipients were surprised and recognized in a ceremony held at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort on May 7, where they each were awarded a $2,500 grant to gift to a nonprofit organization of their choosing.

“Our Disney VoluntEARS bring their compassion for others beyond theme parks and out into the Central Florida community each and every day,” said Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort. “We are thrilled to celebrate this year’s VoluntEARS of the Year for their amazing work supporting local children and families and leaving cherished impressions on the place we call home.”

The 2019 recipients are:

VoluntEAR of the Year: Debbie Weber, assistant operations manager on the animal nutrition center management team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Debbie volunteered a total of 354 hours in 2018, taking her passion for nature into the Central Florida community by gathering supplies for animal care, tending to butterfly gardens at Lake Louisa State Park and educating fellow Cast Members on how to become a Disney VoluntEAR.

Debbie chose to gift her $2,500 grant to The Friends of Lake Louisa State Park, a nonprofit organization that supports the preservation and protection of Lake Louisa State Park. In addition to being a board member for the organization, Debbie also frequently dedicates her time volunteering at the 4,372-acre park

VoluntEARS Team of the Year: Revenue Management and Analytics team, Walt Disney World Resort

This team of 16 Cast Members participated in over 20 VoluntEARS events together throughout 2018 and united to support various causes, including gathering more than 800 toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive over the holiday season and collecting over 2,300 items for Walt Disney World Resort’s annual Back-to-School Drive benefitting A Gift For Teaching.

The team is also an active supporter of Quest, Inc.’s Camp Thunderbird — an organization that provides caregiving and recreational programs to children and adults with development disabilities — and has identified the organization as the recipient of their $2,500 grant.

VoluntEAR Family of the Year: Jordan Baszner, education manager at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and family

The Baszner family completed over 300 volunteer hours in 2018. Jordan works with his family to maintain a Purple Martin habitat in his family’s neighborhood and educate neighbors and local students on species conservation.

Through volunteering together, the Baszner family has developed an even stronger bond and a shared passion for serving others. This inspired their decision to gift their $2,500 grant to Embrace Families, an organization that shares a long-standing relationship with Disney and offers support and services to children in need to ensure they receive the brightest possible future.

Together, the entire Walt Disney World Resort VoluntEARS team dedicated more than 360,000 hours of service to the Central Florida community.

Thanks to their many efforts and contributions, Disney VoluntEARS continue to make lasting change in the Central Florida community. Since the program was founded in 1983, Disney VoluntEARS around the world have dedicated over 8 million hours of service to those in need, bringing Disney magic into their local communities with passion and dedication.

Build Your Own Lightsaber at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

It’s only a matter of time until the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens! Those traveling to the Black Spire Outpost who feel a strong connection to the Force should make their way to Savi’s Scrapyard. Once here seek out the hidden workshop and arrange a meeting with the Gathers. The Gatherers are a group of men and women who have dedicated their lives to passing on their knowledge of the Force as well as the ancient Jedi ways and restoring balance in the galaxy. Those looking to creating their own unique and customized lightsaber shall be assisted by the Gathers in their journey.

The Gathers have lived up to their reputation as being the “keepers of the Force”. They have collected stories, kyber crystals, and other parts from around the galaxy required for the construction of lightsabers. One of the original Gathers, Savi, believed in the Jedi Order and has helped to pass on his knowledge of Jedi lore. To hide his mission, he created a salvage business as a front. Here the next generation of Jedi is assisted in creating their very own unique lightsabers.

Because the workshop is hidden, those ready to learn will have to find a symbol displayed on the front of the workshop indicating that they are in the correct location. They also must give a secret phrase to the Gatherers in order to enter inside. Once the Builders are inside the workshop they will be surrounded by various odds and ends, pieces, and objects. At the center of the room, Builders will find the Builder’s Table. This is a large oval-shaped table which was assembled from ancient pieces salvaged from across the galaxy. The Builder’s Table can accommodate up to 14 builders who are choosing their crystal and crafting their very own lightsabers.

Now that we know where you go to build your very own lightsabers, let’s take a look at the different types of lightsabers that Builders can create. There are four different themes of lightsabers.

Peace and Justice: Salvaged from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships, these lightsaber pieces were created for Force wielders of the Republic era. The simple designs reflect the commitment to the devout life of those whom they were created by – the Jedi Order – the once guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy.

Power and Control: Reclaimed from the ashes of the rumored Sith homeworld and abandoned Sith temples, these lightsaber pieces were originally forged by the Sith of their time. Characterized by sharp and strong forms, these pieces showcase the brutality and relentlessness of the Sith’s insatiable desire for power and control.

Elemental Nature: As we have been told, The Force is an energy field created by all living things; it surrounds us, penetrates us and binds the galaxy together. These lightsaber pieces are born of that same Force. They are as unique as the user and as the elements of nature: the wood from a Brylark tree, a bone of the Cartusion whale or even a tooth from a Rancor.

Protection and Defense: Cultivated from a time forgotten, these earliest lightsaber pieces contain designs and inscriptions that are shrouded in mystery. Believed to be created for protection and defense, conferring anonymity and symbolizing emotional detachment, a lightsaber made from these pieces reconnects the user with the most ancient wellspring of the Force.

As a reminder, Phase 1 of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening on May 31 (Disneyland Park) and August 29 (Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Do you feel the Force calling you? A Chinese Woman Has Been Sent to 13 Years in Jail For Ticket Fraud at Shanghai Disneyland

A recent case involving a woman from South China has resulted in 13 years of jail time over a case of ticket fraud at Shanghai Disneyland. A report from the South China Morning Post states that a woman claimed to be an assistant to a top manager at the theme park, and able to purchase half-price advance tickets for clients.

She collected a total of 9 million yuan (US$1.34 million) and provided only 2 million yuan worth of tickets to customers as she spent some of the money to cover her own debts.

The woman has also been ordered to refund the money paid by her victims and pay fines of 300,000 yuan (US$44,514).

Ways To Celebrate Your Mom This Mother’s Day At Disney Springs. There are so many ways to celebrate Mom on Mother’s Day. Make this year extra special by taking her to Disney Springs and spend some quality time with her.

This year is my first Mother’s Day since the birth of our first child and I was asked a question recently I have never been asked before. “What do you want to do for Mother’s Day?” I had repeatedly asked my own mother this very question over the years, but it felt different having it directed to me this time! I’m sure I will get used to it eventually, but it still begs the question, “What DO I want to do for Mother’s Day?”

“Good Morning America” is offering the chance of a lifetime! “GMA” wants to celebrate the love of Star Wars in families around the country with the Live Your Star Wars Adventure Challenge.

One Grand Prize Winner will receive a four-day trip to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. You will experience Galaxy’s Edge and live your own Star Wars Story!

Entering is as easy as destroying the Death Star! Send an essay of 100 words or less telling “GMA” how much your family loves Star Wars and how you show your love to the fandom. You must also send in a video showing your passion for the Star Wars universe. The video may be up to one minute in length and may feature other people, but the entrant and the entrant’s family members discussed in the essay must appear in the video too.

Submissions are due by May 13th, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.
