If you are planning a trip to Disneyland Park soon, you’ll want to take note of two temporary attraction closures. Both the historic King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland and the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition have officially closed their gates to guests to undergo scheduled refurbishments.

Here is what things look like on the ground and when you can expect these classics to return:

Over in Fantasyland, beige construction walls adorned with medieval-style pennants have completely surrounded the canopy of King Arthur Carrousel, blocking off both the entrance and exit. A royal decree posted on the walls reads:

“A Proclamation. Hear ye, Hear ye! All who come to this place shall… Pardon our Pixie Dust. By Decree of The Royal Court.”

If you’re looking to snap a photo trying to pull the sword from the stone, don’t worry! The Sword in the Stone monument directly in front of the carrousel remains accessible to guests. In fact, the themed pennants on the construction walls make for a rather fitting royal backdrop for your photos.

As one of Disneyland’s original opening-day landmarks, King Arthur Carrousel actually dates back to 1922 when it operated at Sunnyside Beach Park in Toronto before Walt Disney purchased and relocated it for Disneyland’s 1955 opening.

According to Disneyland’s operating calendar, the carrousel is currently scheduled to welcome riders back on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Meanwhile, over in Frontierland, the popular shooting gallery is also out of commission. Wooden fence-style construction walls have been erected around the attraction, with scaffolding and beige scrim covering the structure behind them.

Signs posted for passing cowboys and cowgirls state:

“Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition is out of ammo. Please visit other locations while we resupply.”

Unlike the carrousel, Disney has not yet announced an official reopening date for the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition. However, West Coast fans can take comfort in knowing this is a temporary closure for standard maintenance—unlike its Walt Disney World counterpart, which closed permanently back in 2024.

Voices of Liberty Auditions Open as Candlelight Processional Planning Begins

Disney Live Entertainment has opened auditions for the Voices of Liberty, giving fans the very first sign that preparations for the 2026 EPCOT Candlelight Processional are already underway.

Though the popular holiday tradition doesn’t debut for more than four months, early planning is essential for the festive spectacular. This year, the Candlelight Processional will run throughout the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays from November 27 through December 30, 2026.

The Voices of Liberty will shine as an eight-part vocal ensemble, performing alongside a mass choir and a spectacular 50-piece live orchestra. Accompanied by herald trumpets, the talented group helps elevate the timeless retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator.

To round out the ensemble for the upcoming holiday season, Disney is currently casting across five distinct voice parts: Alto, Soprano, Bass, Baritone, and Tenor. Selected vocalists will be signed to seasonal contracts running from November through early January 2027.

To apply, singers must submit an online video audition and check in through the official Disney Auditions portal before submissions close on July 20, 2026. Candidates moving forward will be contacted by August 4 to attend one of the scheduled in-person callbacks:

It looks like Disney may be preparing to catch ’em all once again. According to multiple industry reports, the Pokémon anime could soon return to Disney platforms, with Disney Branded Television reportedly reacquiring the U.S. broadcast and streaming rights for the long-running series. While Disney has yet to make an official announcement, the reports have Pokémon fans buzzing.

If the reports prove accurate, Pokémon would make its return to Disney XD, and possibly Disney Channel, beginning around August 6, with a large portion of the anime library arriving on Disney+ as early as August 7. That would mark a major shift after several years of Pokémon calling Netflix its streaming home in the United States. It would also be something of a homecoming, as Disney XD previously aired Pokémon during the Sun & Moon era from 2016 through 2020.

For longtime fans, having the anime collected in one place would be a welcome change. Over the years, Pokémon episodes and movies have been scattered across multiple streaming services, making it difficult to watch the franchise from beginning to end. A move to Disney+ would make it much easier for longtime Trainers and newcomers alike to jump into Ash Ketchum’s adventures or the franchise’s newer series.

One important detail is worth noting: this would only be a licensing agreement for the anime. Disney would not own Pokémon. The franchise would remain under the ownership of The Pokémon Company, with Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures continuing to control the brand, games, trading cards, and merchandise. Disney would simply become the U.S. home for the television series once again.

As exciting as the reports are, fans should keep expectations in check until Disney or The Pokémon Company makes an official announcement. For now, consider this one filed under “rumor,” but if it becomes reality, August could be a very exciting month for Pokémon fans.
