New Bait x Reebok Toy Story Shoes Coming This Fall

We saw some bright and boldly colored new sneakers at the Toy Story preview this weekend. Bait and Rebook have come together, to take style to infinity and beyond! The new Bait x Reebok Toy Story Shoes feature kicks inspired Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Green Army Men, and are due out this fall.

New Bait x Reebok Toy Story Shoes Coming This Fall

The Green Army Men Reebooks totally have that casted plastic toy look. These are an InstaPump style that is made for secure and comfortable fit! We very rarely see the Green Army Men represented in style options, aside from t-shirts, so this is a really fun design! The Green Army Bait x Reeboks will retail for $200.00 when they debut in November.

New Bait x Reebok Toy Story Shoes Coming This Fall

Of course our leading hero duo each got their own pair of InstaPump Reeboks as well! Bold details recreate the costumes of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, with lots of detailing. Woody’s iconic cow print vest, and yellow plaid are incorporated with blue and yellow stripes to bring his costume to life. The sole is the same brown as Woody’s cowboy boots. The Buzz Lightyear shoes are an incredible recreation of his Space Ranger suit! The InstaPump button is even tied into the details. The pump is bright red, and on a yellow and black striped block just like on Buzz’s left arm. The red, black, and blue buttons from the chest of the suit have become an iconic detail of the suit, and can be seen on the outer side of the shoe. Each pair retails for $200.00, and will be available in November!

Disneyland Announces Child Care Financial Assistance for Employees

Disneyland Castle

Great news out of California! The Walt Disney Company announced on Thursday that the company is starting a new childcare assistance program. This will be for employees of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA.

“Over the course of the past year, I’ve frequently talked about three priorities for our business: putting our Cast first; supporting our community, and being innovative in our commercial efforts. I call these the three Cs, and it is no coincidence that I always list Cast first,” said Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro in the program’s announcement.

As part of this program, Disney is expected to spend $10 million a year to help Disneyland cast members and employees pay for child care. The program will be released this fall help reduce some of the financial burdens for child care for full- and part-time hourly and salaried cast members with children 12 years old and younger. Disneyland officials said this is adding to existing programs for employees such as “backup care” and assistance obtaining child care referrals, “homework help” and other resources.

“Making quality child care more accessible and affordable is the latest addition to a growing package of innovative programs that reflect our ongoing commitment to expand opportunities and improve the lives of our cast members,” said The Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger.

“As with our Disney Aspire education initiative, my hope is that everyone who can benefit from this support will take full advantage of it.” The Disney Aspire program provides free education for Disney Cast Members and employees who are looking to obtain their college degrees or other certifications.

This is fantastic news for Disneyland employees and cast members!

Ride Like The Wind With Toy Story Adidas Shoe Collection

Toy Story Adidas Shoe Collection

Toy Story Adidas Shoe Collection

With Toy Story 4 debuting in theaters this month it’s time to ride, or maybe run like the wind! To help us run like the wind there is a new Toy Story Adidas Shoe Collection for the whole family, inspired by Buzz Lightyear and Woody. The user @US_11 on Twitter has revealed a sneak peek at two of the shoes coming out for the collection.

The collection of Toy Story sneakers will also be available in sizes for the whole family. The style for the collection is the UltraBOOST 19, which is styled in colors inspired by the characters they represent. These have a very subtle character nod to them. While there is no official release date, this collection is expected to launch on June 21st, the same day as the new Toy Story 4 film.

Woody UltraBOOST 19

Woody is represented on a white sneaker, with brown, blue, and yellow accents. The front of the shoe is done in a plaid lattice like style, which is representative of Woody’s plaid shirt. If you look inside the shoe, you’ll see a graphic of Woody on the insole.

The Buzz Lightyear version of the sneakers are a much more subtle style than we usually see for Buzz. His Space Ranger suit is represented on a white sneaker with light purple and light green accents. You will also see an image of Buzz hidden inside on the insoles as well.

We can’t wait to see more about these new Toy Story inspired shoes! What do you think of the new Toy Story Adidas Shoe Collection coming out this summer?

Fifty-Five Years and More Than 35,000 Rescues in, SeaWorld Experts Reveal Threats To Marine Wildlife Are Accelerating

Fifty-Five Years and More Than 35,000 Rescues in, SeaWorld Experts Reveal Threats To Marine Wildlife Are Accelerating

Since 1964, the same year SeaWorld first opened its gates, SeaWorld’s rescue teams have been on the frontlines of giving ill, injured, orphaned or abandoned animals a second chance at life.  Today, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment announced that SeaWorld Rescue has now come to the aid of more than 35,000 marine and terrestrial animals in its 55-year history. Trends in rescue data suggest that the impact of human activity on our oceans, such as plastic pollution, is taking an increasing toll on marine wildlife in recent years.

To grow awareness of the threats facing wildlife, the company also launched a new SeaWorld Rescue channel on Instagram ahead of World Oceans Day that tells the story of rescue, rehabilitation and release, as seen through the eyes of those on the frontlines of saving animals.

“As an organization, we want to get to a place where we conduct fewer rescue operations, not more, but right now there are a lot of ill, distressed or stranded wild animals in need,” said Jon (JP) Peterson, Senior Leader of Zoological Operations at SeaWorld Orlando, who has personally assisted thousands of distressed animals. “We’re not there yet, but there’s much more awareness now of the impact that humans are having on the ocean’s health and the animals that live in the ocean than there was when I started on the rescue team, and that gives us hope. Part of SeaWorld’s mission is to increase awareness and education of the true impact humans are having on our oceans and the detrimental effects on marine wildlife.”

SeaWorld cites changes in sea surface temperatures, urban development and resulting habitat loss, along with ocean pollution, as primary causes and concerns impacting marine wildlife. According to SeaWorld Rescue data, for example, approximately half of the manatees rescued along Florida’s coast since 2015 were in danger from human-impacted activities, including paralysis caused by cold stress or red tide as seawater temperatures dramatically change with the climate, injuries caused by boat strikes, or entanglement in marine debris.

“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would like to express our sincere gratitude to SeaWorld on behalf of the West Indian manatee on World Oceans Day and every day,” said Jay Herrington, field supervisor for U.S.  Fish and Wildlife Service’s North Florida Ecological Services Office.  “The rescue team and veterinary staff have always gone above and beyond for these animals, pairing a love for Florida’s beloved state marine mammal with a desire to contribute to manatee conservation and recovery. This dedication by the SeaWorld team to help save the species has extended across the Florida border, as they have led manatee rescue operations from Massachusetts to Texas with many other partners in marine conservation.”

SeaWorld’s rescue team is on call 24/7, 365 days of the year, partnering with multiple government agencies, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA), to rescue and rehabilitate animals, with the ultimate goal of restoring them to full health so they can return to their natural habitat. In cases where a rescued animal is deemed non-releasable by NOAA or another federal agency, however, SeaWorld is one of many facilities on call nation-wide to provide world-class care from its dedicated team of animal specialists and veterinarians.

“SeaWorld has been a long-standing valuable partner in promoting marine conservation, and rescuing and rehabilitating stranded, entangled or imperiled marine wildlife,” said Donna Wieting, Director of NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Protected Resources. “On World Oceans Day, NOAA and SeaWorld remind the public that they, too, have an important role in reporting stranded or injured marine animals.”

In addition to SeaWorld’s rescue efforts, the company’s team of experienced zoologists and researchers are working on the frontlines of conservation around the globe to help some of the estimated one million species that are being driven toward extinction. From developing new tools at its Species Preservation Laboratory in California to help repopulate threatened species, to conducting critical killer whale research within its parks that aids in the conservation of threatened southern resident killer whales in the Pacific Northwest, to practicing conservation medicine to rehabilitate endangered species like the Guadalupe fur seal, the various species in SeaWorld’s care are providing a trove of scientific data that scientists can tap to better diagnose and understand threats to the health of their wild counterparts.

“For SeaWorld, our commitment to conservation runs deeper than saving a single animal on a beach,” said Peterson. “We want to save and support their entire species, the ecosystem that they live in, and the food sources that they feed on.”

Universal Studios Employee helps awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride

Universal Studios Employee helps awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride

All over the internet the past few days I have seen this touching story of a Universal Studios Employee who helped an awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride Spiderman at Universal Studios Orlando.

The boys’ mom posted this touching story on her facebook wall along with a photo and asked to spread the word.

Here is her story…

I would like to share something incredibly special with you all. A day we will never forget. Today we took our little boy Ralph to Universal Orlando Resort for the first time. Ralph is awesomely autistic, and we are proud to be a neurodiverse family. As wonderful, loving, intelligent and incredible as Ralph is, sometimes he struggles. (Don’t we all?) When he struggles the hardest, he can have something known as an “autistic meltdown”. Some people who are not educated about autism might see it as a temper tantrum. But the fact of the matter is that it is not the act of a spoiled and naughty child. It’s a cry for help. This is Ralph’s way of saying “I don’t know how to monitor and regulate my emotions right now. I need help, please! I’m scared! I’m overwhelmed! I want to feel better and I don’t know how!”. And here came Jen to the rescue.

First I should explain that Ralph was EXTREMELY excited to ride the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure. He kept on asking us if the ride was coming up soon, and we would reassure him and say “Soon, Baby. Soon. First there are other rides before that one. That one is at the end. It’s the last island. So we have to ride the other ones first. Okay?” He was SO patient for SO long. As patient as he possibly could be. He would say “Okay” and sigh, and then enjoy the next ride. But all the while, the excitement was building up to the pinnacle of his day: The Spiderman ride near the exit of Islands of Adventure.

So when we finally got there and handed them his handicap-access tickets which would make his waiting time a little bit more bearable (he would still have to wait the same amount of time, just not in a physical line), he was upset that we had to walk away from Spiderman in order to find a nice cool air-conditioned place in which we could wait until it was our turn to ride. He was as patient as could be while we sat there as a family for the 15 minutes it would take until we could go back and walk in. The anticipation was driving him wild! But he did his very best to regulate it with the tools he has been given over the years by his teachers and therapy team at his special needs school back home. They, and he, are all AMAZING.

When we finally got back to Spiderman, he was leaping for joy. He thought “OH WOW! This is IT! FINALLY!” and you should have seen the SMILE on his face. It was incredible. Then when it was almost our turn to board, and he could see the end in sight, the vehicles right in front of us, we got the news that the ride had broken down. Everyone was very nicely asked to exit. And Ralph, understandably, lost it. (Wouldn’t you?). My husband and I know the signs. We could see it coming, like an oncoming train. And yet we couldn’t dodge out of the way. There was nowhere else to go. The autistic meltdown was GOING to HAPPEN. And happen it DID.

Ralph collapsed onto the floor while crowds of people were attempting to exit the ride and the gift shop attached to it. He began sobbing, screaming, rocking, hyperventilating, and truly struggling to breathe. A woman who worked there named Jen came over… no… no, she RUSHED over… and while I frantically kept trying to get him to stand up so he wouldn’t get trampled on by people, she encouraged me to leave him on the floor if that is where he needed to be. Then she did this. She got down on the floor WITH HIM. She rested next to him while he cried his heart out, and she helped him breathe again. She spoke to him so calmly, and while he screamed and sobbed, she gently kept encouraging him to let it all out. She told people to keep on walking around them, so they would stop standing there and staring. And then she told him it was okay for him to be sad and feel this way. She understood. She would feel the same way too. His feelings were validated. And she told him he could lay there with her as long as he needed to until he felt better.

Eventually, he DID feel better. So they got up, and she told him he could have something from the gift shop to help him feel even better still. Anything up to $50. All he wanted was a tiny notebook and pen to write in about the size of my hand, and a tiny ID tag with Spiderman’s face on it and his name. She suggested some other toys that were even more expensive, and he looked at her and said “No thanks, I’m good.” And he SMILED. And THANKED her. He was exhausted and rattled, as we ALL get after one of his rare epic meltdowns. But what a relief it was that it was over. Thanks to Jen, and her knowledge about what to do. I asked her how she knew how to do that, and she told me that everyone at Universal Studios gets special training when it comes to people who are awesomely autistic, as well as other special needs. I hugged her for the LONGEST time… several times, if I’m being honest. And then the entire family left the store and marched straight over to customer relations without a single pit-stop, to sing Jen’s praises. I showed the sweet woman working there the photos of Jen with Ralph, and she got misty-eyed herself, and hugged me. We showed each other our goosebumps on our arms and laughed and hugged yet again. And she ALSO told me how much training they get when it comes to helping people with various special needs.

Many thanks ALSO go out to the incredibly sweet woman working the Dr. Seuss carousel ride who let Ralph ride it again without having to get back in line because she saw the laughter and joy on his face. I wish I had gotten her name. MEGA thanks to Lindsey and Vee from Mythos restaurant who noticed him starting to panic a little when he needed a pencil so he could calm himself down from the over-stimulation at the park. He wanted to draw, and all he could find was a pen. He kept saying “Thank you for my pencil” very anxiously over and over and over again to Lindsey, who very sweetly kept trying to explain she only had a pen, but she would see what she could do. Then she rushed off, despite us telling her we would just go buy him one somewhere as soon as possible so he could draw. But she insisted she wanted to help. And then suddenly Vee appeared and she had a beautiful freshly-sharpened yellow pencil in her hand and the biggest smile for Ralph you ever did see. And when he drew them a thank you card with The Cat in The Hat on it, they thanked him and Vee asked if she could hang it in her office. He was THRILLED at this suggestion. It made him feel SO special that she wanted to keep it in the office to remember him by. Vee, Lindsey, THANK YOU. A big thanks to Augustin from The Mummy Ride, who saw us struggling a little bit with the lockers and rushed over to help, and then without even being asked, befriended Ralph and led us over to the ride via the magical “back way”, complete with elevator and a bypassing of much of the line. And finally, a MEGA THANKS to our friend Sidney J. Dragon for being there and helping Ralph feel better! Bringing him water, also sitting down on the floor with him, and then being our tour guide the rest of the day to make sure everything else went smoothly for us from there on in! He works there too, and stayed with us until the park closed, making sure Ralphie stayed happy! Even though his work shift ended already! You are all MAGICAL people. TRULY. Universal Studios Employee helps awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride

A message to all of the people who work at Universal Studios: Please read this and know that my family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I know Ralphie does too. THANK YOU for recognizing that Ralphie is a GREAT kid. A SWEET kid who just struggles with certain things (as we ALL do, neurodiverse or not). THANK YOU for treating him with SO much kindness and patience. THANK YOU to your supervisors and whomever trained you so well. THANK YOU for paying such close attention. THANK YOU for BEING THERE for us today, and for making us feel like Ralph’s well-being was your top priority. He is OUR top priority because we love him more than ANYTHING and ANYONE, but you all only just met him today. And yet you behaved as if you were family. And we TRULY cannot thank you enough.

Too often people complain when something goes wrong, but say nothing when something goes RIGHT. Well that’s not how I do things. Maybe it’s because I’m a business-owner myself. But I refuse to go to bed tonight, regardless of how utterly EXHAUSTED I am, until I publicly thank you and sing your praises. THANK YOU. TRULY. Universal Studios Employee helps awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride And Mama Jen? We love you most of all. Universal Studios Employee helps awesomely autistic boy after he was unable to ride his favorite ride

Toy Story Designer Handbags Take Style To Infinity And Beyond

Toy Story 4 Designer Handbags

Toy Story 4 Designer Handbags

I am absolutely loving all of the whimsical and colorful Toy Story collections to commemorate the new movie this summer. It looks like there are even some Toy Story Designer Handbags hanging out in the toy box too. These collaborations from Dooney & Bourke, Loungefly, Harvey’s, and Danielle Nicole are bursting with playful details and designs.

Recently at an exciting media event for Toy Story 4 we got to check out some of these amazing new collections that are waiting to play.

Toy Story 4 Dooney & Bourke Collection

We got a sneak peek at two Dooney & Bourke silhouettes with a fun Toy Story 4 inspired print. The colorful print is an all over pattern featuring classic character, and new characters coming to the big screen soon. The color palette for this collection has a vintage and summery feel.

Toy Story 4 Loungefly

We’ve seen quite a few fun designs from Loungefly inspired by Toy Story already this year. The designs have included several character inspired mini backpacks with coordinating wallets inspired by Buzz, Woody, and Bo Peep, as well as an all over Toy Story character print. The new dynamic Duo ducky & Bunny will also have their own collection soon. The pair will be the feature of a double sided tote, that has embroidered details of Ducky on the yellow side, and Bunny on the Blue. There is even a matching wallet too!

Toy Story 4 Harvey’s

In March Harvey’s launched a fabulous Toy Story collection, that took style to infinity and beyond. The debut collection quickly sold out at their flagship location, and online. Luckily we’ll be seeing a new line of Toy Story bags from Harvey’s with a launch at Disneyland this weekend!

Toy Story 4 Danielle Nicole

Danielle Nicole always designs intricate die-cut bags, with beautiful metallic accents, and sparkling thread. You’ll be well equipped to handle any intergalactic emergency with the Buzz Lightyear Belt Bag, and Backpack. ‘Tale of the Lion King,’ Debuts at Disney California Adventure Park

Tale of the Lion King

Tale of the Lion King

There is an all-new outdoor theatrical musical production called, “Tale of the Lion King!” This new stage show is at Disney California Adventure Park on the Palisades Stage for a limited time this summer.

In this imaginative new stage show, Disney celebrates the characters and music of the iconic movie, “The Lion King.”

“The approach that we’ve taken with ‘Tale of the Lion King’ is that this is a story that was passed on from generation to generation, and now it’s come here to Disney California Adventure park,” said Susana Tubert, Creative Director, Disney Parks Live Entertainment. “The Storytellers of the Pride Lands have come to share this ancestral story of how a cub became a king.”

Tale of the Lion King

The show is lead by a lead narrator, Mwongozo –Swahili for “guide.” This narrator leads a troupe of 18 performers called the Storytellers of the Pride Lands.

Guests will get to dance and sing along to all-new musical arrangements of their favorite songs, including “Circle of Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and “Hakuna Matata,” among others. The live drumming and singing, along with the set and costumes all celebrate the cultural roots of this beloved Disney story.

Tale of the Lion King

Disney’s reimagined “The Lion King” is set to debut in theaters on July 19th. This marks the 25th anniversary of the original animated movie release!
