Disney Channel‘s ‘Recess‘ Is Becoming An Independent Live-Action Film. Independent Filmmakers and Fans of the late 90’s, early 00’s cartoon, Recess, decided to make a live-action film based off the popular Disney Channel show.

According to HypeBae, the film is being directed by filmmaker Jerome Yoo. Yoo also produced the project with Kent Donguines and co-wrote the screenplay with writer, Zlatina Pacheva. “The upcoming, non-profit fan film reimagines the elementary school-centric show and offers audiences a look at the beloved characters with a new lens,” shares HypeBae.

The filmmakers shared this synopsis for the fam-made film, “Picture 10-year-old you sitting in front of the TV, watching TJ, Spinelli, Gretchen, Vince, Mikey, Gus, Randall, the Ashleys and the rest of the colourful cast at 3rd Street Elementary School getting up to their usual hijinks. You lay your head to rest that night and dream about being part of this group and then awake 20 years later and think: ‘Hey, I wonder what happened to the Recessgang when they went to high school?’ Well, YOU’RE WELCOME, because we’re here to answer that question for you!”

“The Ashleys” clique will be played by Sydney Scotia, Brenna Llewellyn, as well as Kelcey Mawema and Emilija Baranac, who’s best known for her role as Genevieve in the Netflix hit, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Of course, the gang won’t be complete without the playground snitch Randall, who’ll be portrayed by Adam DiMarco.

For the first time ever during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, select Magic Kingdom attractions are receiving special enhancements just for the holidays!

When you get behind the wheel on the Tomorrowland Speedway, you’ll find yourself cruising a festive freeway filled with thousands of lights and stylized décor. The crew at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor is putting some “Ha Ha Ha” in their “Ho Ho Ho,” with a new show for everyone visiting the Monster World during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Space Mountain launches you on a trippy jaunt through the cosmos, filled with dazzling lighting and high-energy holiday tunes, and Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland becomes a wild and wacky Christmas party, as you spin your teacups to one of four new holiday combos of lights and music.

All this is in addition to the brand new “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” show, debuting this year. And there are plenty of returning favorites like “A Frozen Holiday Wish,” “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration,” “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas,” Club Tinsel, the Disney Junior Jingle Jam and “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade”, not to mention sparkling décor, complimentary treats and a magical snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A.

Electronic Gaming Federation to Launch National High School ESports Championship with ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2020

Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF) and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex today announced they will host the national interscholastic high school esports championship tournament, June 12-14, 2020, featuring the best high school esports teams in America.

Teams will earn their way into the national championship by advancing through a series of regional qualifying events in fall 2019 and spring 2020. Additional details, including top teams and tournament format, will be announced in the coming weeks for the event taking place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in June of 2020.

EGF, founded in 2013, is widely recognized as the leading organization for the management and delivery of organized high school and collegiate esports, staging more than 2,000 events across the nation each year.

Esports is one of the fastest-growing activities in the world in terms of participation and audience size. According to gaming industry experts, there are more than two billion participants and viewers of esports and gaming worldwide.

“We are proud to be working with The Electronic Gaming Federation on what we think will be an exciting venture into the esports business,” said Faron Kelley, Vice President of ESPN Wide World of Sports. “This project represents a new opportunity for us here at the sports complex and we look forward to hosting the high school esports national championship next year.”

With this new relationship, Disney and EGF will be focused on driving innovation and catapulting scholastic esports competitions to the next level.

This new esports event is one of several elite youth sports events that take place annually at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, one of the premier sites for amateur sports in the nation. The sports complex also hosts AAU National Championships in basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and track and field, as well as the Pop Warner Super Bowl, Disney Soccer Showcase events for boys and girls, the Summit All-Star Championships (dance and cheer) and the Jr. NBA Global Championships.

In all, more than 100 sports and entertainment events take place at the sports complex each year and the venue has accommodated 70 different sports featuring athletes from 70 different countries since opening its doors in 1997.

Disneyland Has a New Horse Working on Main Street, U.S.A!

Have you ever seen the horse-drawn streetcars at Disneyland, well you might notice a beautiful new grey as Disneyland has a new horse working on Main Street, U.S.A! His name is Bert and he is the latest cast member in Anaheim with a very important job transporting guests up and down that signature street!

Questions for Bert

The Orange County Register newspaper had some questions for Bert, the new horse and Disney kindly answered them, check them out below!

Q. What breed of horse is Bert?

A. Bert is a Percheron Draft Horse. This breed originated in France, specifically the Perche Province which is where the breed gets its name. We have 8 Percherons here at Disneyland Resort and 2 half Percheron horses.

Q. How much does he weigh?

A. Bert weighs approximately 1,800 pounds.

Q. How old is he?

A. He is 6 years old.

Q. Was he named Bert after the character in Mary Poppins?

A. He came named Bert and it was just a sweet fit for Main Street, U.S.A.!

Q. Where did he come from?

A. Bert came from a place called Bent, Montana, a small town close to Great Falls, where he was purchased from a family-owned and operated farm. He arrived alongside his teammate Bill who will also be making his way out to Main Street, U.S.A. later this year.

Q. Did he replace a retired horse?

A. Bert did take a position previously held by a Belgian Draft horse named Holly. She worked with us for nearly 15 years and now has a wonderful home with one of our Cast Members.

Q. What are his likes/dislikes?

A. Bert likes just about everyone and everything. He is very personable and curious, his most favourite thing is attention in the form of scratches and petting. He also enjoys playing with a large ball when in the pasture.

Q. Any other fun facts about Bert that you can share?

A. He is surprisingly good at blowing raspberries and does this anytime he wants attention or gets bored.

Q. How many horses does Disneyland own?

A. We maintain 18. We currently have 16 as two have retired this year, and we will be adding to our herd later this summer or fall.

Q. How many work at one time?

A. We operate two at a time for 2-3 hours a piece, generally four horses a day.

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about how you train a new horse for the route up and down Main Street?

A. We have a very involved training program that ensures that our horses are comfortable and confident when it is time to do their job on Main Street, U.S.A. They start their training at our ranch in Norco, and then they graduate to training at Disneyland to experience the crowds and guests. We have several blog posts on DisneyParksBlog.com about how the horses are trained, which is a pretty involved but exciting process.

Now Open: Jurassic World-The Ride At Universal Studios Hollywood

We were fortunate enough to attend the grand opening of Jurassic World- The Ride At Universal Studios Hollywood! We had some dinosaur-sized fun and we can’t wait to tell you about this ride!

The Jurassic franchise has been a visionary masterpiece for all ages. From the great minds of Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Frank Marshall, fans are led on a journey unlike any other. These films have transcended over decades and have gained an incredible fan base. The love for the franchise is what inspired the Jurassic Park ride.

The ride has since been updated to reflect the transition from the original films we’ve cherished to the new and revered Jurassic World films. The ride has brought together Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), and BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu) to reprise their roles. The attraction also features a new and fresh story line that coincides with the recent films as well as paying homage to the originals.

Speaking of new, there are more new dinosaurs in this ride! Specifically, the fearsome Indominus Rex and the acquatic Mosasaurus make their debuts in this thrilling attraction. Both are done with so much detail and effects, you will believe they’re real!

For the more faint of heart, or families with little ones, Universal Studios has added a Dino Play areas. This area is perfect for kids to interact, explore, and learn about dinosaur fossils.

After all the fun, step into the Jurassic Cafe for some flavorful eats and tropical drinks!

Obviously we need a chef hat for our culinary genius! Just like in the film, Remy is tucked into this hat, ready to guide us (with our imaginations of course), in the kitchen.

New Castaway Cay Challenge Medal Revealed Featuring Captain Minnie

If you’re one of the lucky ones heading to Castaway Cay this coming January to participate in the Castaway Cay Challenge following the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend, then you’re in for a big surprise as Disney Cruise Line and runDisney revealed the redesigned medal. Captain Minnie takes the helm on this stunning medal, as Disney Cruise Line continues to inspire the next generation of female captains.

Disney Cruise Line introduced Captain Minnie Mouse in April 2019 as a new character aboard the ships with hopes to inspire young girls to consider a career in the maritime industry.

The Castaway Cay Challenge takes place on Disney’s private island immediately following the marathon weekend during a 4-night cruise on the Disney Dream. Photography Couple Coordinated Disney Princess Inspired Maternity Shoot. Back in 2017, photographer couple, Vic and Marie decided to create some Disney magic for some special mommies-to-be in wake of a personal tragedy.

According to POPSUGAR, Marie and Vic became photographers together after discovering they could not have children of their own and suffered through a miscarriage at 8 weeks. Instead of focusing on the bad, they both decided to do some good and become maternity and newborn photographers to experience the miracle of creating life.

“We wanted to go outside of that box, something no one had tried to do as of yet, and then it hit me, why not do all of the princesses in a group shot, expecting sweet little babies, and showing off their beautiful bump in a creative way?” Marie told POPSUGAR. “It was a fun project for me being a huge fan of classic stories and movies I grew up to and it was a fun project for Vic because it allowed him to do something he normally doesn’t get the chance to do often.”

Marie found a group of pregnant mothers from Texas, where Vic and Marie Photography is located, and traveled over an hour away from home to Newman’s Castle in Texas to create some Disney magic for these mamas at a special time in their lives. Take a look at their incredible work here!
