World of Disney Storefront Gets a Banner Makeover at Disney Springs

Something looks a little different outside the World of Disney store at Disney Springs, and if your eagle eyes noticed something was missing, you’re not imagining things! The iconic wooden marquee that once greeted shoppers at the entrance near Amorette’s Patisserie has been removed, and in its place? A new look featuring bold red banners and window decals.

The new temporary (or permanent?) aesthetic swaps the rustic wood frame and familiar “World of Disney” sign for clean, vertical banners flanking the entrance columns. The banners feature red tones and classic Mickey silhouettes, along with the store’s name in the recognizable Disney typeface. In case you miss the old signage, “World of Disney” window decals now adorn the glass above the doors to guide you in for your next shopping spree.

As of now, it’s unclear whether this change is part of a full refurbishment or a permanent design shift. While the main marquee structure is gone, a few wooden beams remain, so there’s always a chance this is just a mid-transformation moment.

And this isn’t the only update happening at the World of Disney flagship store. Just a few weeks ago, the Cinderella statue outside another entrance was quietly removed after its recent refurbishment. Coincidence? Maybe. Or maybe this beloved retail hub is getting a full-on magical makeover.

Whatever the case, we’ll be keeping a close eye (and maybe a shopping bag in hand) on what’s next for the most enchanted store in all of Disney Springs.

If you’re now dreaming of strolling down Main Street, U.S.A., or perhaps exploring Adventureland in search of a cool treat, you’re definitely not alone! As Walt Disney himself declared 70 years ago at the park’s dedication, Disneyland was created to be “a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” No matter where you are, that spirit endures. It’s why every visit is unique, offering new experiences and creating lasting, magical memories that keep us coming back for more.

As the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration continues, who better to discuss the impact, importance, and all-around happiness surrounding this beloved theme park than CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, and Disney Experiences Chairman, Josh D’Amaro.

cast

What makes the 70th anniversary of Disneyland such a significant milestone?

Josh D’Amaro: This anniversary is more than a milestone – it’s a chance to reflect on Walt’s original dream and how far it’s come. What started as one park has grown into destinations around the world, all built on his belief that Disney could create incredible worlds like no one else.

Over the years, as our company has welcomed new storytellers from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century, we’ve been able to bring even more beloved characters and adventures to life for new generations. Today, we have more projects under development across Disney Experiences than ever before – all continuing Walt’s legacy of innovation, wonder and connection. We’re still doing what he set out to do… inviting guests into the stories they love, in ways only Disney can.

There’s a clear reason Disneyland is referred to as The Happiest Place on Earth. The energy here is always infectious. You’ve obviously stepped foot in the park hundreds, if not thousands, of times. What do you think keeps the happiness running, year after year?

Bob Iger: Disneyland exists today because Walt possessed abundant courage, ambition, and vision. He didn’t just look around corners or peer into the future, he actually went there. When he determined what he wanted to do, he did it – against all odds, defying skeptics and naysayers.

Walt invented the modern theme park. In just one year, Walt and his team turned what had been a patch of orange groves into a completely new way to be entertained with family, friends, and loved ones, creating indelible memories and some of the most cherished moments in people’s lives. “A source of joy and inspiration to all the world,” as he said on opening day. It’s no wonder Disneyland is called The Happiest Place on Earth.

Can you talk about the impact Disneyland has had on our guests over the years?

Josh D’Amaro: Part of Disneyland’s legacy is making wishes come true for everyone, especially those who need our magic most. Through our work with Make-A-Wish, Disney grants one wish every hour of the day. This week, we are very proud to have granted our 170,000th wish to a child who dreams of one day being an Imagineer. This is some of the most important work we do at Disney, and we’re all so glad to be a part of it.

Do you have a favorite Disneyland memory that stands out above the rest?

Josh D’Amaro: I was 10 years old when my parents took me on my first trip to Disneyland. I can still remember seeing the castle for the first time, meeting the characters and eating some great food. Of all the amazing moments from that trip, the one that stands out the most is going on Peter Pan’s Flight – my father was so excited to ride it with me. “It really feels like you’re flying!” he said. And of course, he was right.

I still flash back to that first ride every time I’m on one of those pirate ships sailing out over London. Years later, I had a similar experience when I took my own kids on Soarin’ for the first time – like so many families, we pass our love for Disney from one generation to the next.

Do you have any messages for the cast members during this happy celebration?

Josh D’Amaro: Every time I walk the park, I see the way our Cast bring stories to life, create moments of joy and make guests feel truly seen. That spirit of service started right here at Disneyland and has spread to every one of our destinations around the world. I’m deeply grateful to the generations of Cast who’ve made the last 70 years so special – and I know their passion and dedication will carry us forward for the next 70 and beyond.

It’s been 70 years, but it feels like Disneyland is still just getting started. The whole, “Disneyland will never be completed…” What are you most excited about for the future of the resort? What do you think the next 70 years hold?

Bob Iger: Everything you see and experience at Disneyland and at our parks around the world is a continuation of Walt’s dream. And I am certain he would be amazed at the scale, the reinvention, and the extent to which his dream became such a thrilling reality. With more expansion projects underway at our parks than at any other time in our history, there is so much to look forward to.

I’ve often said that one of the greatest attributes of Disney is the mere fact that people expect so much from us. We welcome that challenge, because it motivates us and energizes us to always be bold in everything that we do, and to exceed our guests’ highest expectations.

New Trailer for 'Limitless: Live Better Now' Starring Chris Hemsworth

Filmed across six countries over two years, Chris tests his limits by drawing from cutting-edge science and the wisdom of elders. With no previous experience, he learns to play the drums for a live performance with GRAMMY Award-winner Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 fans. He scales a dizzying 600-foot climbing wall in the Swiss Alps to break out of his comfort zone and embrace risk. He also takes part in South Korean Special Forces training, enduring electrocution and pepper spray to confront his long struggle with chronic pain and reconfigure his response to it — all to uncover tools we can use today to live healthier, happier lives.

Joining him on this transformative journey are returning expert Dr. BJ Miller, a renowned palliative care physician, plus a powerful lineup of inspiring voices, including cognitive scientist Dr. Maya Shankar, Parkway Drive drummer Ben Gordon, neuroscientist and Professor Abigail Marsh, free solo climber and wingsuiter Steph Davis, former members of South Korea’s military, MMA fighter Kim Dong-hyun, and freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison. Together, they offer fresh insights into how we can build stronger minds, bodies, and connections

“Making this series has been a life-changing journey. I’ve discovered so much about my own health, resilience and what it really means to live well,” said Hemsworth. “I hope this next chapter inspires audiences to step outside their comfort zones and embrace challenges, because the impact it’s had on my life has been truly profound.”

The Three Challenges: Brain Power, Risk, and Pain

Each part of Limitless: Live Better Now unpacks new science with real-world relevance:

  • “BRAIN POWER”: Inspired by the benefits of learning a new skill, which aids memory and cognitive function, Chris Hemsworth takes up drumming. When he is invited to join Ed Sheeran onstage at a stadium concert, Chris has just months to master the instrument and conquer his nerves to perform in front of 70,000 fans. It’s a challenge that pushes him beyond his limits. A global sensation, Season 1 of Limitless ranks as National Geographic’s No. 2 most-watched streaming series ever, drawing nearly half its audience from international viewers.
  • “RISK”: Chris Hemsworth pushes his limits by attempting to climb a 600-foot Alpine dam in the Swiss Alps. Inspired by his children’s carefree risk-taking, Chris learns from experts how exposure therapy and Flow — a state of hyperfocus — can improve mental and physical health, showing how taking risks as adults can lead to a happier, healthier life.
  • “PAIN”: Chris Hemsworth sets out to confront his chronic pain in a bold, immersive journey through South Korea. Guided by pain expert Dr. BJ Miller, he explores ancient healing traditions and cutting-edge science. Chris faces “pain valley” in the final test, a brutal gauntlet of Special Forces trials that will push him to his limits.

In August 2024, National Geographic released a video capturing the climax of Chris’s brain-boosting challenge: performing “Thinking Out Loud” on stage with his friend Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 fans in Bucharest, Romania, during Sheeran’s “+–=÷x” tour. Now, viewers can witness the full journey in the series’ first episode, “Brain Power,” as Chris learns to play the drums from scratch with Parkway Drive’s Ben Gordon. This unforgettable moment has garnered nearly 35 million views across Chris’, Ed’s, and Nat Geo’s social accounts.

Classic princesses like Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora also appear, alongside favorites like Moana, Elsa, and many more!

The parade culminates with the “Whimsy” finale float, featuring a brand-new starlight-powered train engine. This vibrant and colorful float carries multiple characters, bringing the parade to a dazzling close. As a special nod to a past favorite, an all-new animated Jiminy Cricket waves goodbye from this final float, a touching tribute to SpectroMagic.

Disney Starlight officially kicks off today, July 20, 2025, with nightly performances at 9 PM and 11 PM. Just a heads-up, though, it won’t run on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights.

You can catch the parade as it begins on Main Street and makes its way toward Frontierland.

Disney Starlight Parade’s Interactive Bubble Wand Lights Up Magic Kingdom

Excitement is bubbling over at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom tonight, as guests are getting a sneak peek at the highly anticipated “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” parade during its soft opening! Ahead of its official debut on July 20, fans can now immerse themselves in the parade’s magic with a brand-new, interactive light-up bubble wand, priced at $39.99.

This innovative souvenir is already making waves along the parade route, which stretches from Main Street, U.S.A. to Frontierland. Shaped like Mickey Mouse’s iconic gloved hand clutching a long, lightsaber-like light stick, the wand promises to be a dazzling addition to any park visit. Bubbles emerge from a small hole at the very tip of the light stick, though Cast Members advise that the first use requires about a minute for the liquid to travel the length of the wand and begin producing bubbles.

The wand’s design is thoughtfully integrated with the parade’s theme. Its dark blue handle proudly displays the official “Disney Starlight” wordmark in shimmering silver, surrounded by a swirl of stardust. The transparent orb at the bottom of the handle conveniently holds the bubble solution.

Functionality is key for this magical item. A compartment on the back of the handle allows for easy battery replacement, though the wand comes pre-loaded with batteries. A three-position switch offers versatility: the top setting activates both bubbles and lights, the middle turns it off, and the bottom provides lights only.

Mickey’s signature white and black glove is perfectly replicated, while the translucent light-up tube section features a subtle silver star pattern, echoing the stardust on the handle. A button on the handle allows guests to cycle through a spectrum of colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, violet, and white, making for a truly customizable light show.

What truly sets this bubble wand apart is its interactive capability. By pointing your wand at another guest’s wand and holding down the light button, you can magically change the color of their wand, creating a shared, dynamic experience throughout the park and, presumably, with the parade itself.

These enchanting wands are currently available for purchase from movable carts positioned along the parade route in Magic Kingdom, ensuring guests can grab their own piece of the “Disney Starlight” magic just in time for the parade’s exciting previews.
