New Lagoon Show “Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey” Announced for Halloween Horror Nights 34

Universal Orlando has just announced a brand-new lagoon show for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 34, and it’s already sending chills (and mist) through the fog! Titled Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey, this eerie new nighttime spectacle will rise from the depths of the Universal Studios Florida lagoon. Towering water screens, hauntingly immersive music, and ghostly storytelling projected on shimmering fountains will all combine to drench your soul in spooky delight.

New Lagoon Show Announced for Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights

The show was revealed via Universal’s official Halloween Horror Nights social channels, with the spine-tingling tease:

“A ghost story is rising from its watery grave to haunt the Universal Studios lagoon.”

While Universal hasn’t officially confirmed any storyline connections, many fans are already speculating that Haunt-O-Phonic could be a spiritual sequel to Ghoulish! A Halloween Tale—the fan-favorite lagoon show from HHN 31 in 2022. We wouldn’t be surprised if this new production builds on that haunted legacy with even more ghastly visuals and audio frights.

And this isn’t the only new nighttime entertainment Universal has cooked up in its cauldron. Just hours before the lagoon show reveal, Nightmare Fuel was confirmed to return with an all-new incarnation: Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay. Yes, that’s two nighttime shows promising to ignite your nightmares after sundown.

But wait—there’s s’more in store for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights:

🧟‍♂️ Scare Zones

  • Mutations: Toxic Twenties
  • The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane
  • Masquerade: Dance with Death
  • The Origins of Horror

Plus, don’t miss the new “street experiences” like Mel’s Die-In Zombies and Club Horror—serving undead DJs and zombie carhops with extra gore on the side.

🎃 Haunted Houses So Far:

  • Gálkn: Monsters of the North
  • Grave of the Flesh
  • Dolls: Let’s Play Dead
  • Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters
  • El Artista: A Spanish Haunting
  • Terrifier
  • Fallout

Universal Orlando Resort Boosts Starting Wage to $18.50 for Team Members

Universal Orlando Resort is leveling up—not just in epic attractions, but in wages too. Beginning September 17, 2025, the starting pay for Universal Orlando Team Members will rise to $18.50 an hour, marking a $1.50 increase over the current $17 base wage. Other roles across the resort are also expected to see corresponding increases, making this a widespread investment in the Universal team.

A Continued Commitment to Team Member Support

This upcoming wage increase is the latest in a series of moves by Universal to enhance Team Member benefits and recognize their contributions. The last bump came in June 2023, when wages rose to $17 per hour. That change also brought with it:

  • Enhanced 401(k) match program
  • Expanded tuition reimbursement
  • Compassion leave
  • Doubled parental leave
  • Upgraded family planning benefits
  • A revamped Team Member comp ticket system (now capacity-managed instead of block-out calendars)
  • The debut of the Applause Recognition Program

Going even further back, Universal made headlines in 2021 when it became one of the first theme parks in Florida to raise its starting wage to $15 per hour.

New Look, Same Spirit

Earlier this year, Universal Team Members also got a wardrobe upgrade—at least in the name tag department. New tags now celebrate all four Universal Orlando parks, including:

  • 🌋 Krakatau from Universal Volcano Bay
  • 🏛️ Pharos Lighthouse from Islands of Adventure
  • 🌐 The iconic Universal Globe
  • 🌀 Chronos from the soon-to-open Epic Universe
  • 🎬 The classic Universal Studios Florida arch

Whether you’re ringing up Butterbeer or operating a high-speed coaster, these new name tags proudly showcase what makes Universal a dynamic destination.

A Step in the Right Direction

While this wage increase doesn’t match Walt Disney World’s current minimum of $19, it puts Universal squarely in line with industry standards, and shows their continued push to make the resort a competitive and supportive workplace.

Between new benefits, better wages, and the excitement building around Epic Universe, it’s a good time to be on Team Universal.

Massive Site Prep Underway for Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Something monstrous is taking shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios—and no, we’re not talking about another scream shortage. New aerial photos courtesy of @bioreconstruct on X give us our clearest look yet at the massive groundwork underway for the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed “Door Coaster” attraction.

The images, snapped above the Cast Member parking area just behind Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Grand Avenue, reveal a huge transformation in progress. What was once a sea of asphalt and light poles is now a well-defined construction site, with a central footprint of compacted dirt and early utility access now taking form. The size and scope of the cleared space signals one thing loud and clear: Disney is going big with this one.

One of Disney’s Largest Ride Buildings Yet

According to recent data from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s GIS mapping tools, the new attraction’s show building will cover a staggering 103,000 square feet. That makes it one of the largest indoor ride buildings at Walt Disney World, trailing only Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, which clocks in at 197,000 square feet. For context:

  • 🏗️ Monsters Inc. Door Coaster: 103,000 sq ft
  • 🛸 Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: 92,000 sq ft
  • 🦕 DINOSAUR at Animal Kingdom: 85,000 sq ft
  • 🎸 Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: 71,000 sq ft
  • 🌌 Cosmic Rewind: 197,000 sq ft

Yep, it’s going to be that big.

From the Factory Floor to Grand Avenue

This new coaster will anchor a larger Monstropolis expansion, which is set to take over the former MuppetVision 3D* space and the surrounding Grand Park area. While some existing structures (like PizzeRizzo and the Muppet theater) are expected to be reimagined as part of the new land, the coaster’s enormous building is being constructed behind the scenes, pushing the park’s physical boundaries into what was previously backstage space.

And if you’re wondering about sightlines—so is the Disney fanbase. Some guests have noted that the building’s placement, while smart from a space-maximization perspective, will need some clever theming to blend into the immersive lands around it, especially Galaxy’s Edge.

What We Know (So Far)

Disney has yet to announce an official name or opening date for the attraction, but based on the concept art shared earlier this summer, we expect a fast-paced ride through the world of Monsters, Inc., possibly taking guests on a thrilling journey through the factory’s wild and whimsical door transport system.

From Harryhausen’s-inspired eateries to city street-style theming, the new Monstropolis land promises to bring a mix of laughs, screams, and heart—the perfect fit for a park that already plays host to some of Disney’s most ambitious attractions.

Stay Tuned for More

This is a project to keep your eye on (or all your eyes, if you’re a resident of Monstropolis). We’ll keep tracking the construction progress and bring you updates as this scream-worthy new addition roars to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The Magic Behind the Menu

Led locally by Senior Sous Chef Jonathan Hill, whose experience includes Shula’s Steak House and executive roles within the Swan and Dolphin and beyond, Bourbon Steak Orlando offers a curated menu packed with standout selections and signature flair.

Guests are welcomed not with bread, but with Duck Fat Fries and a trio of dipping sauces—a delicious signal that this is not your typical steakhouse. From there, the indulgence only escalates:

  • Tuna Tartare, prepared tableside with quail egg and Asian pear
  • Bacon-Wrapped Scallops with cherry, almond, and madeira emulsion
  • Black Truffle Agnolotti with burrata and truffle butter
Hay Smoked Tomahawk BourbonSteak

When it comes to the main event, the steaks are serious business. Expect premium cuts like:

  • 10 oz Filet Mignon
  • 22 oz 45-Day Dry-Aged Cowboy Ribeye
  • 40 oz Hay-Smoked Tomahawk Ribeye, served tableside in a custom trolley

For the true connoisseurs, the Wagyu beef lineup includes the extraordinary Miyazaki A5 Strip Steak and Snake River Farms Rib Cap.

Not into steak? Fear not—seafood stunners like Miso Broiled Sea Bass and the legendary Maine Lobster Pot Pie (served tableside in a copper pot!) offer equally unforgettable alternatives.

Sides & Sweets That Steal the Show

Prepare to be tempted by indulgent sides like:

  • Black Truffle Mac & Cheese
  • Jalapeño Creamed Corn
  • Crispy Shallot-Topped Creamed Spinach

And save room for dessert. From the brûléed Basque Cheesecake topped with Florida strawberries to the playful “On the Rocks” Root Beer Float with sassafras ice cream and walnut chip cookies, these aren’t just endings—they’re encores.

Sip in Style

The beverage program at Bourbon Steak Orlando is as polished as its menu. Think Old and New World wines, single-barrel bourbons, and standout cocktails like:

  • Our Famous Martini, with lemon manzanilla sherry and citrus essence
  • Fruit Ninja, a tequila-based concoction with yuzu and grapefruit
  • Fairweather Friend, a sophisticated non-alcoholic option with Lyre’s London spirit and cucumber seltzer

Disney Dominates Comic-Con’s Hall H with First Looks at ‘Predator: Badlands’ and ‘TRON: Ares’

Disney Dominates Comic-Con's Hall H with First Looks at 'Predator: Badlands' and 'TRON: Ares'

The Walt Disney Studios made a massive impact at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, taking over the prestigious Hall H to showcase two of its most anticipated upcoming films: 20th Century Studios’ “Predator: Badlands” and Disney’s “TRON: Ares.” Moderated by filmmaker Kevin Smith, the back-to-back panels treated over 6,500 fans to exclusive footage, surprise appearances, and major reveals for both franchises.

PREDATOR: BADLANDS

The event kicked off with “Predator: Badlands,” welcoming director Dan Trachtenberg and stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi to the stage. The panel immediately immersed the audience, who were all wearing Predator masks, with a surprise appearance by a 7-foot-tall Predator figure that used its heat-vision abilities to scan the room. Trachtenberg delighted fans by screening the first 15 minutes of the film and revealing an exclusive look at an alternate ending featuring franchise legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover.

“In the ‘Predator’ movies, the Predator never wins,” said Trachtenberg, explaining his vision to reframe the creature as an anti-hero. “I was really interested in switching that up and pairing a Predator with someone totally unexpected and taking these two unique characters on an incredibly emotional and visceral journey.”

TRON:ARES

Following the Predator presentation, the energy in Hall H shifted to the digital world of “TRON: Ares.” Smith welcomed a star-studded lineup to the stage, including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, and the original TRON himself, Jeff Bridges, alongside director Joachim Rønning.

Attendees were treated to a preview of a thrilling light cycle chase scene and a first look at the music video for the new Nine Inch Nails song, “As Alive as You Need Me to Be,” from the film’s soundtrack. Rønning emphasized his commitment to creating a “full-blooded cinema experience,” stating his goal was to explore “what it means and takes to be human” through the film’s A.I. protagonist.

“TRON: Ares” follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares (Jared Leto), who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. The film releases in U.S. theaters on October 10, 2025.

“Predator: Badlands” is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in a human named Thia (Elle Fanning). The film opens exclusively in theaters on November 7, 2025.

Spider-Bots Ahoy! Spider-Man Swings Onto the Stern of the Disney Destiny

Are your Spidey senses tingling? That’s probably because the Disney Destiny — the next ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet — just got a super heroic upgrade! Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering are busy spinning their magic at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, bringing the “heroes and villains”-themed vessel to life. And this week, the Destiny hit a major milestone — or should we say a Marvel-ous one.

Spider Man Stern Character Installed on the Disney Destiny

For the first time in Disney Cruise Line history, a Marvel character has claimed the coveted stern sculpture spot, and it’s none other than your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!

Using cranes (not webbing, unfortunately), the shipyard crew hoisted the epic figure onto the back of the ship, where Spidey is now frozen mid-swing — joined by three mischievous, paint-wielding Spider-Bots. Together, they’re putting their finishing touches on the stern’s geometric filigree, which subtly mirrors the intricate designs of a spider’s web.

But this isn’t just any old superhero setup — the Spider-Bots are rocking their own cruise gear. We’re talking sunglasses, snorkel masks, and even some splashy yellow-dipped paintbrushes, because even bots need a vacation vibe. Picture this: A towering 6.5 feet of pure, unadulterated villainy standing guard in your living room or entryway. Her LED eyes glow a fiery orange, and her staff, oh her staff, radiates with an eerie green light, making it look like she’s channeling some serious Dark Magic. But it gets better! This isn’t just a static display; Maleficent is fully animated. We’re talking a moving mouth, a turning head, those glowing eyes darting around, her staff shifting, and even her trusty crow’s mouth moves. Talk about bringing a character to life!

And as if all that wasn’t enough to make you whip out your wallet, she’s also motion-activated and speaks several of her classic, chilling phrases. Imagine the jumpscares when an unsuspecting guest wanders a little too close and suddenly hears Maleficent’s iconic voice!

Whether you’re planning an indoor Halloween haunt that’ll make your neighbors green with envy or you’re just a massive Disney fan looking for the ultimate villainous display, this Maleficent is the absolute perfect addition.
