Police Respond to Major Emergency at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Emergency services were on the scene at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Tuesday evening following an incident involving a guest on the resort’s monorail platform.
The incident occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. EST. While official details have not yet been released by authorities, initial reports suggest that a guest fell or jumped from the fourth-floor platform. The individual’s condition is unknown at this time, but some social media posts indicate that the person died.
Numerous emergency vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, and at least one ambulance, were present at the resort. An area on the ground level, near the Disney Vacation Club parking area, was cordoned off by police tape.
Following the incident, monorail service at the Contemporary Resort was impacted, with guests not being permitted to board at the station.
As of this writing, neither Walt Disney World, law enforcement, nor medical officials have released an official statement confirming the details of the incident or the status of the person involved.

It’s time to plan your late-night Disney adventures! Tickets are now available to all guests for the 2026 Disney After Hours events at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. General sales opened today, October 14, 2025, following the early purchase window for guests staying at Disney Resort hotels, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green.
As of this morning, every event date across all three parks is still available — but if past years are any indication, these limited-capacity events tend to disappear faster than popcorn in a Pixar short.
What is Disney After Hours?
Disney After Hours is a separately ticketed event that gives guests exclusive, late-night access to top attractions with minimal waits, surprise character meet-and-greets, and complimentary snacks like popcorn, ice cream novelties, and bottled beverages. Guests can enter the park as early as 7:00 PM, with the party continuing deep into the night.

The revised page gives a full rundown of how the process works, who qualifies, and what technology guests will need to get started.
The update expands on what was once just a brief mention of online registration, adding step-by-step instructions for completing the process virtually. Guests will now find clear expectations about what’s required before joining the video chat:
Registration hours: Available daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time
No recordings: Recording the session isn’t allowed
Age requirement: Guests must be 18 or older to complete registration for themselves or someone else
Presence required: The guest needing DAS must be present for the chat
Account setup: A Disney account with valid park admission linked for each member of the party is required
Zoom needed: Mobile users must have the Zoom app installed to complete the chat
Accessibility options: Screen reader support and text chat are available for guests with hearing or vision disabilities
Language: Video registration is currently offered only in English
The updated page also fine-tunes the registration flow to make things clearer for first-time users. Here’s what guests should know:
Registration can begin up to 60 days before your park visit
There’s no in-person DAS registration option, but guests can complete the video chat while at the park if they haven’t registered early

To cap off a memorable 2025 Alaska cruise season, Disney Wonder crew members shared a little extra magic with the communities of Southeast Alaska. This effort is part of Disney Cruise Line’s ongoing, global commitment to making a positive impact in the ports of call where they sail.
Cast members and crew members from the Disney Wonder visited the ports of Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan recently to connect with members of the local community and provide support in meaningful ways. Highlights included a visit from Captain Mickey Mouse at an assisted living facility, then a food pantry restocking effort, and the crew also hosted local Junior Achievement students for an exclusive ship tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at maritime careers.
“This is our strength at Disney Cruise Line: we can get closer to each local community we visit,” said Kana, Disney Wonder guest services crew member and Disney VoluntEAR. “The reason I volunteer is to get closer to the places that we go to and become friends with the people. It feels really good to be part of a company where I can do that.”
Captain Mickey Mouse Surprises Community Members
Residents of the Sitka Pioneer Home, along with children and families from a local school enjoyed a day of joy and togetherness as Disney VoluntEARS from the Disney Wonder hosted an end-of-summer celebration. Guests were surprised with a visit from Captain Mickey Mouse, who danced along and brought smiles to residents, many of whom were meeting Mickey for the very first time.
“At the heart of Disney Cruise Line is the happiness we create and we’re able to do that for our guests every day, but to go the extra mile and do it for the community is something really special,” said Joshua, Disney Wonder assistant cruise director and Disney VoluntEAR.
Crew Members Give Students Behind-the-Scenes Look of Jobs at Sea
While docked in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka, Junior Achievement students were given an exclusive look at the many maritime career roles during job shadowing tours, hosted by the Disney Wonder crew members themselves.
“We’re thrilled to play a part in helping develop, grow, and champion young adults to be the next voices of the maritime industry,” said Simpson, Disney Wonder learning and development manager. “We hope that giving the students a glimpse of our positions at Disney Cruise Line they now know all the steps they can take to start their career journey, and anything is possible.”
Students spent time with crew members whose roles span from environmental officers to crew engagement managers to housekeeping management, learning about their career pathways and how sustainability, an inclusive work environment, and exceptional service are interwoven at Disney Cruise Line.
Helping Local Small Businesses Grow & Giving Back to the Community
For the second year in a row, Disney Cruise Line worked with Southeast Alaska organization Spruce Root, contributing to their “Path to Prosperity” business development program for Alaska Native entrepreneurs and small businesses.
With support from Disney Cruise Line, Spruce Root provided training, mentorship and resources to small business owners to help build sustainable, community-focused businesses in the port communities the Disney Wonder calls home.
“Without support from businesses like Disney Cruise Line, Spruce Root wouldn’t be able to provide those services to businesses like mine,” said Nicole Goodman, owner of Klondike Electric Bikes in Skagway. “That’s such an amazing thing to know that Disney is giving back to our community by investing in programs and helping our local businesses because it’s the key to making us all successful.”
In the capital city of Juneau, Disney VoluntEARS also helped make a difference in the community by visiting the Southeast Alaksa Food Bank to sort, pack, and prepare food for distribution to local families in need.
