First up, a fan-favorite is making a triumphant return. The Universal Legacy Store is set to reopen in late April, taking over the space currently occupied by the Epic Universe Preview Center, which will close on April 13. This retro-inspired shop is basically a time machine in merchandise form, packed with nods to classic attractions and films like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, Back to the Future, and the legendary Universal Monsters. Expect throwback vibes, photo ops, and plenty of “take my money” moments.

Foodies, your next stop is already sizzling. Five Guys is set to open later this summer, bringing its famous made-to-order burgers and fries to CityWalk. The new location will replace the current Burger King Whopper Bar, which is scheduled to close on April 21. Translation: say goodbye to the crown, and hello to a pile of Cajun fries.

Luke Combs to Open New Entertainment Venue to Citywalk at Universal Orlando

Looking ahead, the biggest addition on the horizon is a full-on entertainment venue from country superstar Luke Combs. In partnership with Opry Entertainment Group, “Luke Combs’ Category 10” is set to debut in 2027 at a new waterfront location. The venue promises live music, food, drinks, and a whole lot of honky-tonk energy, giving CityWalk a Nashville-style twist right in the heart of Orlando.

With these additions, Universal CityWalk continues to evolve into more than just a place you pass through on your way to the parks. It is becoming a destination all its own, where retro memories, bold flavors, and live entertainment collide in one seriously fun lineup.

Kevin Lansberry Honored with Main Street, U.S.A. Window at Magic Kingdom

A little extra pixie-dusted prestige just landed on Main Street, U.S.A. as longtime Disney executive Kevin Lansberry has officially received one of the park’s most meaningful honors. Following his retirement in February 2026 after an impressive 39-year career, Lansberry was recognized with a personalized window display in Magic Kingdom, joining an elite group of Disney legends whose names are forever woven into the park’s storytelling.

Lansberry’s career reads like a greatest hits tour of Disney leadership, with roles spanning both coasts and multiple divisions. He served as Vice President of Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World, VP of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Senior VP of Worldwide Travel Operations, and later climbed to Executive VP and CFO of Disney Parks and Resorts. He even stepped in as interim CFO for The Walt Disney Company in 2023. His impact stretched far beyond spreadsheets, helping shape the guest experience across parks, products, and global operations.

The window itself now sits proudly on the blue façade of the Main Street Bakery, right in the heart of the action. Designed in classic Main Street style, it reads “Main Street Trust & Loan” with Lansberry listed as Director, along with the heartfelt tagline “Care Compassion Commitment” and the phrase “Investing in Making Dreams Come True.” The ceremony took place on April 10 with Disney leadership in attendance, including Josh D’Amaro and Jeff Vahle, making it a moment worthy of a standing ovation right on Main Street.

Main Street windows are not handed out like park maps. According to Disney tradition, they are only awarded upon retirement, reserved for individuals of the highest achievement and respect, and require approval from both top park leadership and Walt Disney Imagineering. Each one tells a story, and Lansberry’s window adds another chapter to the living history that lines Main Street, U.S.A.

So next time you stroll past the Main Street Bakery with a Starbucks in hand, look up. You might just spot a name that helped make the magic happen behind the scenes.

Arrest at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Tied to Deadly California Fireworks Explosion

A man wanted in connection with the deadly 2025 fireworks explosion in Esparto, California, was arrested this week at Walt Disney World. Local reports say Kenneth Kin Chee, owner of Devastating Pyrotechnics, was taken into custody by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 351 Studio Drive in Bay Lake, an address that matches Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The arrest is tied to the July 1, 2025 explosion in Yolo County that killed seven people. Authorities say the blast involved commercial fireworks and ammunition stored at a property that allegedly did not have the required local permits. Chee is reported to be facing multiple felony charges, including seven counts of murder and conspiracy, while six other people were also arrested as part of the broader investigation.

Because this is still a developing story, more details could emerge about the arrests and extradition process. For now, the Disney connection appears to be limited to where Chee was taken into custody, not to the underlying California case itself.

Hallmark Unveils Cinderella Castle Tree Topper

Disney fans and Christmas enthusiasts, prepare for some holiday magic! On April 2, 2026, Hallmark officially announced the crown jewel of its upcoming holiday collection: the Cinderella Castle Keepsake Tree Topper.

Designed to be the centerpiece of any Disney-themed tree, this new release isn’t just a static decoration—it is an immersive recreation of the Magic Kingdom experience.

What Is the Cinderella Castle Tree Topper?

This full-size topper is part of Hallmark’s Tree Topper Magic line, a series known for high-end features like light, sound, and synchronized motion. Unlike previous character-focused toppers, this piece focuses on the architecture and atmosphere of the Walt Disney World icon.

Key Features Include:

  • Visual Spectacle: A highly detailed recreation of the castle as it stands at the end of Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Sights and Sounds: The topper features a synchronized light show mimicking fireworks over the castle spires.
  • Iconic Soundtrack: Fans can listen to “When You Wish Upon a Star” as the lights dance.
  • A Touch of Pixie Dust: The design includes Tinker Bell, poised to “fly” across the Hub just as she does during the nightly spectaculars in Orlando.

Hallmark’s own teaser on the Ideas site describes the piece as “show-stopping,” aiming to evoke the “goosebumps” feeling of standing in Town Square during the evening fireworks.

When and Where to Buy

The Cinderella Castle tree topper is scheduled for release during the Keepsake Ornament Premiere, which Hallmark has confirmed will run from July 11 – 19, 2026.

  • Retail Locations: Hallmark Gold Crown stores nationwide.
  • Online: Available at Hallmark.com.
  • Early Access: Crown Rewards members often get a first look, so checking in with your local store before the July 11 launch is highly recommended.

Pricing and Availability

While Hallmark has not yet confirmed the final retail price—and the Digital Dreambook currently lists the price field as blank—collectors can look to recent releases for a ballpark estimate. The popular Haunted Mansion Musical Tree Topper retailed for $159.99 (including the power adapter and remote). Given the complexity of the Cinderella Castle lighting effects, a similar premium price point is expected.

Pro Tip: Disney “Magic” toppers are notorious for selling out during Premiere weekend. If this is on your must-have list, consider visiting your local Gold Crown store on the morning of July 11.

Why This Topper is Different

For years, Hallmark has produced stunning Disney ornaments, but the Cinderella Castle topper represents a shift toward “place and memory.” While a Mickey or Minnie topper is whimsical, the Castle is a literal beacon of the Disney Parks experience.

By combining the structural recognition of the castle with the sensory triggers of fireworks and music, Hallmark is offering fans a way to bring the “Happiest Place on Earth” into their living rooms. Whether you’re a lifelong Disney Parks fan or just looking for a spectacular finale for your 2026 tree, this piece is set to be the must-have item of the season.

Peter Pan and Wendy Take Flight in Disney Starlight Parade at Magic Kingdom

Peter Pan and Wendy Finally Take Flight in Disney Starlight Parade at Magic Kingdom

First Look at Peter Pan and Wendy Flying Above the London Skyline in Disney Starlight

Guests watching the Disney Starlight parade last night were treated to a magical surprise as a long-awaited feature finally made its debut. During the April 9th performance of “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away,” Peter Pan and Wendy were seen flying above their float for the very first time since the parade began its run.

The Peter Pan and Wendy Flight Stunt Makes Its Public Debut

When Disney Starlight first premiered on July 20, 2025, fans immediately noticed that the Peter Pan unit seemed designed for more than what was being shown. The float, which features a shimmering, oversized Big Ben and the London skyline, appeared to have technical rigging similar to the “Dreaming Up!” parade at Tokyo Disneyland. However, for the first several months of the show’s run, Peter and Wendy remained grounded, dancing on the deck of the float rather than soaring above it.

That changed during last night’s 8:30 p.m. performance. As the float made its way through Liberty Square and down Main Street, U.S.A., the duo took to the air, circling high above the London rooftops in a stunning display of “pixie dust” and choreography. The addition of the flight sequence adds a dynamic layer of verticality to the unit, making it one of the most technically impressive moments in the entire parade.

Continuous Enhancements for the Magic Kingdom Nighttime Parade

This upgrade is part of a series of “soft” updates Disney has made to the parade since its summer 2025 debut. In December, the Moana unit underwent a significant change when the sheer fabric “waves” used by the dancers were replaced with brightly-lit fiber optic cables to better suit the nighttime environment.

The arrival of the flight stunt suggests that Disney Imagineers have been working behind the scenes to fine-tune the parade’s more complex elements. For guests who have already seen Disney Starlight, the addition of the flying sequence offers a brand-new reason to find a spot along the parade route once again.

With summer crowds on the horizon, the timing of this technical debut couldn’t be better. The flight stunt is expected to remain a permanent fixture of the Peter Pan unit, ensuring that the boy who wouldn’t grow up finally gets to show off his wings at the Magic Kingdom.

Behind the Scenes of Animal Care Excellence and Daily Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

att g BsxjHEvJmrWWyNutbNjUzRaRilnVXXghvdB

Behind-the-Scenes Look at Animal Care Excellence at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Providing world-class animal care is a round-the-clock mission for the dedicated cast members at Walt Disney World. Their daily efforts are built on a foundation of deep expertise and a consistent, unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of every species in their charge—a level of excellence that deserves recognition throughout the year.

Since Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened in 1998, the park has maintained prestigious accreditation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). This achievement serves as a testament to the passion and high professional standards the teams bring to their work every single day.

As we celebrate Earth Month, it is the perfect time to pull back the curtain on the incredible care these teams provide. We owe a huge thank you to the cast members who ensure the magic of nature thrives for guests and animals alike.

Animal care

Animal Care Guests Don’t Always See

Some of the most important animal care happens beyond what guests typically notice.

Every day, cast members create customized nutrition plans, design enriching experiences, and partner closely with veterinarians to support animals at every stage of life. From carefully prepared meals to enrichment that encourages natural behaviors like exploring and problem‑solving, our hands‑on care is grounded in research, observation, and experience.

A key part of this work happens at the Animal Nutrition Center, which prepares and delivers more than 10,000 pounds of food each day to animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT. It’s a behind‑the‑scenes operation that reflects the dedication and attention to detail cast members bring to their work every single day.

When giraffe Tucker recently celebrated his first birthday, his keepers partnered with the Animal Nutrition Center to create a giraffe‑friendly birthday feast designed just for him, a small moment that highlights the care that guests only get a glimpse of.

Science in Action

Behind every animal you see is a team of experts putting science to work around the clock.

Animals are monitored overnight, supported through behind‑the‑scenes check‑ins, and cared for using detailed protocols that help ensure their well-being at all times. Animal care professionals, veterinarians, nutritionists, and scientists collaborate daily, whether it’s during a routine exam or planning long‑term care.

For animals like okapis – naturally reclusive and rarely visible even in the wild – much of that care happens quietly behind the scenes. Keepers like Mori build trust over time, training okapis to voluntarily participate in their own care, allowing teams to monitor health and conduct exams even when guests may never catch a glimpse.

The same relationship‑based approach allows African elephants to position their feet for veterinary radiographs, demonstrating how science‑based care is rooted in communication, trust, and respect.

Where Care, Careers, and Conservation Connect

Many of Disney’s cast will tell you that animal care is more than a job; it’s a calling.

Through certifications, mentorship, research, and collaboration with peers across the global zoological community, cast members continuously build expertise that supports animals both in Disney’s care and in the wild.

This knowledge extends far beyond the park gates. Cast members contribute to field research and conservation partnerships around the world, from the Sea Turtle Conservancy’s Tour de Turtles to work with the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center (GRACE) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

att JGJEuelcQbeAxcVhORqOf MqnSxrmzZalITrBP

That same commitment also comes back home, shaping how cast members connect guests to conservation every day.

Just as importantly, cast members help inspire the next generation of conservationists. Experiences like Wilderness Explorers spark curiosity through discovery, inviting young adventurers to learn about animals, ecosystems, and the importance of protecting the natural world. By turning learning into hands-on exploration, these moments help plant the seeds for future conservation leaders.

The Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) helps carry this message forward. Celebrating more than 30 years of impact with $141 million invested to date, DCF supports conservation efforts globally, combining philanthropic grants and Disney expertise to protect wildlife, restore ecosystems, and inspire action for the planet

Imagineering Files New Construction Permit for Former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Site

The next chapter for the former Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is quietly taking shape. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new construction permit tied to the property, signaling continued progress as the site transitions from its short-lived hotel experience into a hub for future Disney projects.

This latest permit is for 211 S Studio Drive, which refers to an adjacent administration building rather than the main Starcruiser structure itself. The filing lists Balfour Beatty as the contractor for “general construction,” a familiar name tied to previous permits for the site. Like most permits, this one carries a one-year expiration window, suggesting ongoing phased work rather than a single large-scale overhaul.

Once complete, the reimagined space will serve as office space for Walt Disney Imagineering, supporting major projects across Walt Disney World. That includes upcoming developments like Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the Frontierland expansion featuring Piston Peak National Park and Disney Villains Land at Magic Kingdom.

The Starcruiser originally opened on March 1, 2022, offering a first-of-its-kind immersive “cruise-style” adventure in a galaxy far, far away. While praised for its storytelling and live entertainment, the experience struggled with its premium price point and ultimately closed on September 30, 2023. Now, instead of hosting voyages aboard the Halcyon, the site is being repurposed to help build the future of Walt Disney World.

Cinderella Castle Painting Nearly Complete as Moat Refill Appears Next

It looks like the royal glow-up at Cinderella Castle is entering its final chapter. From recent views around the hub, the gold detailing on the top spire now appears complete, catching even the gray Florida skies with a subtle shimmer. Meanwhile, the iconic blue turrets have fully transitioned away from their 50th anniversary look and into a deeper, classic royal blue, giving the castle a more timeless storybook finish.

Down below, the transformation continues in the moat area, where the previously murky green water has disappeared entirely. The moat remains drained, with construction equipment and tarped sections still visible, suggesting crews are wrapping up final work before refilling begins. The absence of water makes for a rare behind-the-scenes peek at the castle’s foundation, almost like seeing Cinderella’s carriage mid-transformation.

New La Poutinerie Dining Location at EPCOT

For fans of crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds, and rich gravy, the walk between World Nature and World Showcase is about to get a major upgrade. Air Canada has officially revealed concept art for La Poutinerie, a reimagined dining location taking over the former Refreshment Port at EPCOT.

While the location has been closed for refurbishment since January 12, 2026, this announcement confirms that the site is evolving from a generic snack kiosk into a themed destination. As the Official Canadian Airline of Walt Disney World Resort, Air Canada is deepening its partnership with Disney by hosting this new “classic with a twist” experience.

What to Expect: Geese, Trees, and Gravy

The newly released concept art suggests that while the building’s footprint remains the same, the aesthetic is receiving a distinctly Canadian makeover. Key features of the redesign include:

  • Whimsical Decor: The most striking addition is a centerpiece featuring Canadian geese figures seemingly “flying” out of a decorative tree.
  • Themed Landscaping: The area will be framed by lush greenery, flowers, and rockwork, designed to blend seamlessly with the aesthetic of the nearby Canada pavilion.
  • Modernized Signage: New information boards and sleek signage will replace the old Refreshment Port branding, giving the kiosk a polished, permanent feel.

The menu remains the biggest mystery, though the tagline “a Canadian classic with a twist” hints at more than just the traditional poutine. If past Air Canada pop-ups are any indication, guests might see global fusion poutines inspired by various flight destinations.

Beyond the Food: Perks for Aeroplan Members

This sponsorship isn’t just about signage. Air Canada is leveraging its status as the official airline to offer exclusive benefits to Aeroplan Members traveling to Walt Disney World. Current and upcoming perks include:

  • Point Redemption: Aeroplan points can now be used for Disney hotel and flight packages, Disney Gift Cards, and even merchandise.
  • VIP Experiences: Points can be redeemed for exclusive viewing areas for Luminous: The Symphony of Us, EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular.
  • In-Flight Magic: Passengers can enjoy Disney+ content and a new Walt Disney World-themed safety video on select flights.

When Will It Open?

While Disney and Air Canada have labeled the project as “Coming Soon,” industry watchers are keeping a close eye on the calendar. With construction permits already filed for “set elements” and the location having been closed since early January, many are hopeful for a grand opening in time for the summer crowds or the start of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

Until then, poutine lovers will have to wait just a little longer for their fix. One thing is certain: with Air Canada at the helm, the journey to the perfect poutine is about to get a lot more scenic.
