From scaffolding creeping across rooftops to buildings getting fresh layers of theming, this corner of the park is slowly saying goodbye to its Muppet past and hello to a city powered by screams.

One of the most noticeable updates is around Gonzo’s Royal Flush, which is now wrapped in tarps and surrounded by scaffolding, including new work around the rooftop water tower. Over near the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, the changes are even more dramatic. Windows are blocked, exterior colors are shifting, and rooftop water towers have been removed, signaling its transformation into Harryhausen’s, the iconic sushi restaurant from Monsters, Inc. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock Closing for Refurbishment This May

Guests planning a stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort next month will want to keep this transportation update on their radar. According to Walt Disney World’s posted refurbishment notice, the resort’s boat dock will temporarily close from Monday, May 11 through Friday, June 5, which means guests will not be able to use water transportation across Seven Seas Lagoon during that time.

While the dock is out of service, Disney says alternative transportation options including bus service, the monorail, and walking paths will still be available to help guests get where they need to go. It is one more temporary adjustment at the Polynesian, which has already been in the middle of a larger refurbishment project that includes changes to the front entrance roadway and bus area.

Disney’s official notice also says construction activity at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is expected to continue through 2026. While dining, pools, and resort amenities will remain available, guests may notice daytime construction, impacted views, and should allow a little extra travel time when coming to or leaving the resort.

If you’re looking for a meal that feels like a warm hug (with a side of zany energy), the Springtime Breakfast Buffet at Goofy’s Kitchen is the place to be. Running through the spring season (officially launched April 2, 2026), this limited-time celebration takes everything we love about Goofy’s and adds a splash of seasonal color. Even though we were there for Breakfast, our reservation was before the bruch started and we were able to enjoy some of the brunch items as well (which included carved meats, hot foods like chicken, salmon and various sides).

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by more than just the smell of Mickey waffles. The restaurant is transformed with cheery floral decor and upbeat music that sets a perfectly sunny tone for the day.

But the real stars are the characters. Seeing Goofy and his pals in their springtime finery is a treat for anyone who appreciates the details. Keep an eye out for:

Kate: Works in Food and Beverage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Her time in the Disney kitchens even inspired her to complete culinary school to further her career.
Brittany: Serves as a Scheduling Specialist for Entertainment, coordinating the complex logistics for performers, technicians, and costuming cast.
Rachel: Works with the Disney Character Events team, bringing beloved characters to life at special events across the property and beyond.

When Worlds Collide

Despite working in different departments, the sisters occasionally find their professional lives intersecting. Recently, for the first time in their six-year tenures, all three worked the same event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“That was the first time we’d ever been able to run into each other altogether,” Rachel said. “It was such a fun experience to share all that we do with one another.”

A Family Affair

The Hacketts aren’t the only ones in the family with “pixie dust in their veins.” The sisters are joined at Walt Disney World by two uncles and an aunt, making the resort a true family business.

With more than 80,000 cast members at Walt Disney World and an average tenure of 12 years, the Hackett sisters represent the long-term career opportunities Disney provides. As Brittany puts it, working together has only strengthened their relationship.

“It just feels so normal that we’re all part of the magic,” Brittany said. “We have the sisterly bond, but we also have the cast member bond. Their advice to other families considering the leap? “Do it.”
