New Aerial Photos Reveal Major Progress on Monstropolis Transformation at Hollywood Studios

The transformation of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is picking up serious steam, and new aerial photos from bioreconstruct are giving us a bird’s-eye peek at the monster makeover in progress. From scaffolding creeping across rooftops to buildings getting fresh layers of theming, this corner of the park is slowly saying goodbye to its Muppet past and hello to a city powered by screams.

One of the most noticeable updates is around Gonzo’s Royal Flush, which is now wrapped in tarps and surrounded by scaffolding, including new work around the rooftop water tower. Over near the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, the changes are even more dramatic. Windows are blocked, exterior colors are shifting, and rooftop water towers have been removed, signaling its transformation into Harryhausen’s, the iconic sushi restaurant from Monsters, Inc. Meanwhile, construction crews have also moved into the MuppetVision 3D entrance, where scaffolding now surrounds the area and the clock tower has lost its familiar faces.

Elsewhere in the land, recent demolition has cleared space near Grand Avenue, leaving behind a blank canvas that is expected to become The Glob Theater, a clever Monsters, Inc.-inspired twist on the Globe Theatre. Concept art hints at a vibrant streetscape filled with red brick buildings, green accents, and playful details like eye-themed clock faces.

While it is still early days, these updates show that Monstropolis is quickly moving from concept art to reality, and it is shaping up to be a scream-worthy addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock Closing for Refurbishment This May

Guests planning a stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort next month will want to keep this transportation update on their radar. According to Walt Disney World’s posted refurbishment notice, the resort’s boat dock will temporarily close from Monday, May 11 through Friday, June 5, which means guests will not be able to use water transportation across Seven Seas Lagoon during that time.

While the dock is out of service, Disney says alternative transportation options including bus service, the monorail, and walking paths will still be available to help guests get where they need to go. It is one more temporary adjustment at the Polynesian, which has already been in the middle of a larger refurbishment project that includes changes to the front entrance roadway and bus area.

Disney’s official notice also says construction activity at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is expected to continue through 2026. While dining, pools, and resort amenities will remain available, guests may notice daytime construction, impacted views, and should allow a little extra travel time when coming to or leaving the resort.

A Nine-Month Labor of Love

This wasn’t just a simple update. The Walt Disney Film Restoration team spent nine months breathing new life into the 1951 classic. Using the original nitrate Successive Exposure (SE) negatives, artists performed a high-resolution digital scan followed by extensive “clean-up” to eliminate decades of dust, warping, and age-related wear.

To ensure the film stayed true to Walt’s original vision, the team collaborated with Michael Giaimo, a veteran of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Together, they cross-referenced production artwork from the Animation Research Library to refine every shot’s color and luminance.

“The original animation artists’ work on Alice in Wonderland is stunning, and we’re proud to present it with renewed clarity and vibrancy,” says Kevin Schaeffer, Director of Restoration & Library Management.

Bonus Features: Go Further Down the Rabbit Hole

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital releases are packed with “curiouser and curiouser” bonus content that takes fans behind the scenes of the production.

Highlights include:

  • Archival Reference Footage: Watch original live-action reference clips with commentary by Kathryn Beaumont, the original voice of Alice.
  • Classic Companion Shorts: Enjoy Thru the Mirror starring Mickey Mouse and the historic Alice’s Wonderland from the original silent Alice Comedies.
  • Deleted Scenes & Music: Discover “lost” moments and music videos for songs like “Beware the Jabberwock” and “If You’ll Believe in Me.”

A Very Merry Unbirthday Gift

While we may never truly know why a raven is like a writing desk, this restoration ensures that the wit and artistry of Mary Blair’s iconic concept art and the animators’ legendary work will shine for another 75 years.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or introducing a new generation to the Mad Hatter’s tea party, this 4K edition is the ultimate way to experience Disney’s most imaginative journey. Mark your calendars for May 5—it’s time to get curious!

Where to Find It: You can find these items right now at Disney Springs, but like most Stoney Clover Lane releases, they are expected to fly off the shelves. Head over to Disney Ever After or the Marketplace Co-Op to grab your favorites before they’re gone!

The latest permit filings from Disneyland have finally shed some light on the timeline for this year’s Hyperspace Mountain run. According to the city records, the resort has requested to install the specialized marquee overlay for the attraction starting around April 17. This temporary signage is slated to remain in place through June 1, providing the first real indication of how long the Star Wars takeover will last.

While the “Season of the Force” festivities bring plenty of excitement to Tomorrowland, the exact end date for the attraction’s overlay is often a mystery. However, with the permit set to expire on the first of June, it appears the high-speed chase through the galaxy will wrap up just as May comes to a close. Fans looking to catch this limited-time version of the coaster should plan their missions soon, as the ride officially launches into hyperspace on April 28.

Disneyland Permitting Confirms New Tenant for Jamba Juice Spot

Jamba is officially closing its doors at the Downtown Disney District, marking another major shift in the Disneyland Resort landscape. While we’ve been busy celebrating the arrival of new favorites like Din Tai Fung and the highly anticipated Porto’s Bakery, we now have to say goodbye to this longtime smoothie staple.

Disneyland Files Permit to Remodel Jamba Juice Location for a New Tenant

Disneyland Resort has filed a permit with the City of Anaheim to overhaul the 1,200-square-foot space currently occupied by Jamba. Listed as “DTD Building H/Suite 102,” the permit confirms a major “remodel of [an] existing beverage/food unit” to make way for a brand-new tenant. While Disney has yet to officially announce the closure, the filing indicates that the smoothie staple’s time in Downtown Disney is coming to an end.

The upcoming project involves extensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, though the identity of the new tenant remains under wraps. While there is no word on whether Jamba will relocate elsewhere on property, speculation is already pointing toward Bopo Go!—the boutique bubble tea concept previously announced for the district—as a likely candidate for the refreshed space.

night jamba

It has been a full year since Disney first teased that Bopo Go! would be joining the Downtown Disney lineup, yet its exact location has remained a mystery. With news of Jamba’s departure now surfacing, the timing seems perfect for the boutique bubble tea shop to finally claim its home. While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the swap, the 1,200-square-foot footprint would be an ideal fit for the new concept.

If this is truly the end for Jamba, it marks the departure of a literal district landmark. Originally opening in 2003—just two years after Downtown Disney itself debuted—the shop has been a staple for over two decades, even receiving a fresh, modern makeover in 2020. You can currently find Jamba nestled between Sephora and Pandora Jewelry, conveniently located near World of Disney and the entrance to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

What do you think about Jamba possibly leaving Downtown Disney for good?

Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction Levels Up with First Support Columns at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Monstropolis is officially rising from the Monsters Inc construction site at Walt Disney World, and things are starting to look seriously scream-worthy. New aerial views from X user bioreconstruct reveal that the first vertical support columns have now been installed for the upcoming door vault coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, marking a major milestone as the project shifts from groundwork to vertical construction.

Five tall black support pillars are now standing on the massive concrete foundation, offering the first real glimpse at just how towering this attraction will be. Around the site, additional coaster components, including more supports and sections of track, are staged backstage, ready to be installed as work continues. The foundation itself is still a hive of activity, with crews laying rebar, installing electrical conduits, and prepping multiple concrete pads for future track supports and structural elements.

Heavy equipment, including a large concrete boom pump, is positioned on site, signaling that more pours are imminent as the footprint of this attraction continues to expand. The scale here is hard to overstate, with the sprawling layout already stretching across what was once Muppets Courtyard, soon to be fully transformed into the vibrant city of Monstropolis.

Inspired by the iconic door vault sequence from Monsters, Inc., this new coaster is set to be a first for Disney, featuring both a suspended ride system and a vertical lift. That combination alone puts it firmly in E-ticket territory and positions it as one of the most ambitious additions to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in years.

For guests visiting the parks now, there is even a bit of bonus magic in the making. Portions of the backstage staging area, including some coaster pieces, can reportedly be spotted from the Disney Skyliner, offering a unique bird’s-eye view of the early construction progress.

While it is still early days, the arrival of these first supports is a clear sign that the doors to Monstropolis are beginning to swing open. And if this pace keeps up, it will not be long before this coaster starts looking less like a construction site and more like a full-blown laugh factory in motion.

A Taste of Sunshine: Why Goofy’s Kitchen Springtime Breakfast is a Must-Visit

Springtime

There is something undeniably magical about spring at the Disneyland Resort. The air is a little crisper, the flowers are in full bloom, and at the Disneyland Hotel, a certain “Chef” is whipping up something extra special.

If you’re looking for a meal that feels like a warm hug (with a side of zany energy), the Springtime Breakfast Buffet at Goofy’s Kitchen is the place to be. Running through the spring season (officially launched April 2, 2026), this limited-time celebration takes everything we love about Goofy’s and adds a splash of seasonal color. Even though we were there for Breakfast, our reservation was before the bruch started and we were able to enjoy some of the brunch items as well (which included carved meats, hot foods like chicken, salmon and various sides).

The Magic is in the Details

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by more than just the smell of Mickey waffles. The restaurant is transformed with cheery floral decor and upbeat music that sets a perfectly sunny tone for the day.

But the real stars are the characters. Seeing Goofy and his pals in their springtime finery is a treat for anyone who appreciates the details. Keep an eye out for:

Goofy sporting a whimsical flower pot hat.

Clarabelle Cow (a rare seasonal guest!) with adorable buzzing bee accents on her cowbell.

Minnie, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale joined in their best garden-inspired outfits.

A Feast for the Young (and the Young at Heart)

One of the most sincere reasons Goofy’s Kitchen remains a staple is that it truly understands its audience—which is everyone.

For the Kids (and Picky Eaters)

The buffet is designed to be approachable and fun. Yes, you’ll find the iconic Mickey Mouse Waffles and pancakes, but Goofy also adds his signature “zany” touch with things like Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza. It sounds wild, but seeing a child’s face light up when they realize they can have pizza for breakfast is what Disney memories are made of.

For the Adults

While the kids are busy with the soft-serve frozen yogurt bar (yes, for breakfast!), adults can enjoy a surprisingly sophisticated spread. You’ll find:

  • Made-to-order omelets and egg white frittatas.
  • Smoked salmon blinis and poached jumbo shrimp.
  • Pork belly chilaquiles for a savory, flavorful kickstart.
  • Fresh seasonal fruit, avocado toast, and chia parfaits for those seeking a lighter start.

Have you ever tried the infamous PB&J pizza?

Why It’s Truly for All Ages

It’s easy to dismiss character dining as “just for kids,” but Goofy’s Kitchen offers a unique kind of sincerity. It’s a place where the pressure of a “perfect” park day melts away.

The character interactions here are notoriously unrushed. Whether you’re five years old meeting Pluto for the first time or a grandparent sharing a laugh with Clarabelle, the joy is universal. There’s no age limit on a high-five from Goofy or the simple pleasure of a dessert station that encourages you to be a little “goofy” with your toppings.

Know Before You Go

  • Pricing: Breakfast is $69 for adults (ages 10+) and $39 for children (ages 3–9). Brunch is $74 and $39 and Dinner is $79 and $42.
  • Reservations: These are highly recommended and can be made up to 60 days in advance via the Disneyland app or by clicking here.
  • Parking: Guests can receive 3 hours of validated parking at the Disneyland Hotel.

If you find yourself at the Disneyland Resort this spring, do yourself a favor and book a table. It’s more than just a buffet; it’s a bright, cheerful reminder that sometimes, the best way to start the day is with a little bit of nonsense and a whole lot of heart.

Scaffolding and Themed Scrims Take Over the Haunted Mansion Facade

Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom is currently undergoing a refurb on its exterior. The attraction is covered by scaffolding and scrim.

Haunted mansion

Guests visiting the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom recently have been met with a startlingly (almost) seamless sight. The exterior of the iconic Liberty Square attraction is currently enveloped by massive construction scrims as it undergoes a scheduled exterior refurbishment.

As seen in the provided image, Disney has masked the ongoing work by using a photo-realistic scrim that perfectly mirrors the facade and architecture of the famous manor. The wrap is so detailed that from a distance, it blends effectively with the actual structure, maintaining the park’s immersive storytelling even during necessary upkeep.

att dr ZTVrTlvxyhkHaEYif zaCjPXByTX

While the scaffolding hidden beneath the decorative scrim covers a significant portion of the mansion’s main building and distinct red-brick facade, the entrance queue and garden area remain largely visible, defined by the signature iron fencing and brick pillars seen in the foreground.

The attraction continues to be fully operational for guests ready to encounter its 999 happy haunts, with the construction primarily impacting the external visuals of the property. Refurbishments of this nature ensure the intricate, historical look of the beloved attraction is preserved for the future.

Sisters in Pixie Dust: Disney Cast Member Legacies Decades in the Making

This National Siblings Day, a story from the heart of Walt Disney World serves as a beautiful reminder that Disney magic has a unique way of weaving families together across generations. For sisters Kate, Brittany, and Rachel Hackett, what began as childhood vacations has blossomed into a shared professional calling rooted in family tradition and a passion for creating “magic” for others.

A Legacy Born from a Grandmother’s Love

While the three sisters now work in very different corners of the resort, their paths all trace back to a singular inspiration. Their grandmother spent 27 years as a seasonal merchandise cast member, and her dedication left a lasting impact on her granddaughters.

“We were very fortunate to spend so much time at Disney World as children,” Kate shared. “Our grandmother really shaped those memories for us.”

Those early visits planted a seed that grew into a family legacy. The sisters have even carried on a specific tradition by performing in the Candlelight Processional Cast Choir—a role their grandmother once held.

One Leap, Three Careers

The transition from fans to cast members began with Brittany, who moved from New Jersey to Florida for school and took a part-time role at the resort. It didn’t take long for the “Disney fever” to spread. One by one, Kate and Rachel followed, eventually drawing much of their immediate family closer to the magic.

Today, their roles are as diverse as the parks themselves:

  • Kate: Works in Food and Beverage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Her time in the Disney kitchens even inspired her to complete culinary school to further her career.
  • Brittany: Serves as a Scheduling Specialist for Entertainment, coordinating the complex logistics for performers, technicians, and costuming cast.
  • Rachel: Works with the Disney Character Events team, bringing beloved characters to life at special events across the property and beyond.

When Worlds Collide

Despite working in different departments, the sisters occasionally find their professional lives intersecting. Recently, for the first time in their six-year tenures, all three worked the same event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“That was the first time we’d ever been able to run into each other altogether,” Rachel said. “It was such a fun experience to share all that we do with one another.”

A Family Affair

The Hacketts aren’t the only ones in the family with “pixie dust in their veins.” The sisters are joined at Walt Disney World by two uncles and an aunt, making the resort a true family business.

With more than 80,000 cast members at Walt Disney World and an average tenure of 12 years, the Hackett sisters represent the long-term career opportunities Disney provides. As Brittany puts it, working together has only strengthened their relationship.

“It just feels so normal that we’re all part of the magic,” Brittany said. “We have the sisterly bond, but we also have the cast member bond. Their advice to other families considering the leap? “Do it.”
