New Space Mountain Update in Tokyo Disney will Combine Cosmic Rewind Ride Effects

Tokyo Disney’s Reimagined Space Mountain to Feature Cosmic Rewind-Style Effects

Under construction in Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, the reimagined coaster—rumored to be titled Space Mountain: Earthrise—is pushing the boundaries of ride technology. A recent video from WD23 Studios has given fans an exciting first look at the new ride vehicles, which appear to utilize Omnicoastertechnology similar to EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

In a groundbreaking move for the franchise, the attraction is expected to feature a combination of rotating vehicles and a tilted-up launch, creating a high-speed “story coaster” experience unlike any other version of the classic mountain.

Space mountain

The reimagined Space Mountain at Tokyo Disney Resort is currently on track for a grand debut in 2027. This massive project holds the title of Disney’s most expensive attraction ever, with an investment of approximately 70.5 billion yen (roughly $460 million).

To ensure the new intergalactic adventure stayed on schedule, construction actually began well before the original version of the ride officially closed its doors in July 2024. This allows the park to completely transform the surrounding Tomorrowland plaza into a high-tech hub worthy of the ride’s groundbreaking technology.

A new video from WD23 Studios has set the Disney fan community abuzz, showcasing a wrapped ride vehicle that confirms the next generation of space travel is on its way. The footage reveals a sleek, low-profile car that is unmistakably a Disney Omnicoaster—the same groundbreaking “storytelling” system used for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.

IMG

Developed by Walt Disney Imagineering in partnership with Vekoma, the Omnicoaster is a marvel of programmable motion. Unlike traditional coasters, these vehicles can rotate 360 degrees while moving at high speeds. This allows Imagineers to “point” the riders toward specific show scenes, screens, or practical effects, ensuring you never miss a beat of the story.

While the rotating base allows for the same seamless 360-degree maneuvers seen in Cosmic Rewind, Tokyo’s version looks to be adding a major new trick to its repertoire.

  • Controlled Rotation: Just like the EPCOT favorite, these cars will likely use precise programming to change your field of vision throughout the ride.
  • The “Tilted” Launch: The video suggests a massive upgrade: a tilted-up launch sequence. While Cosmic Rewind uses a reverse launch, this new system would involve physical track pieces that tilt, potentially simulating the sensation of a vertical liftoff.

By combining tilting track effects with the already versatile Omnicoaster rotation, Space Mountain: Earthrise is shaping up to be an evolution of the technology we’ve seen before. It takes the best parts of the storytelling coaster and adds a layer of physical track movement that could make this the most dynamic ride experience in any Disney park.

Disneyland Expands Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Timeline Tomorrow

Since it first opened in 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort has been a masterpiece of immersive storytelling, inviting guests to live their own adventures in the era of the Resistance. But starting April 29, 2026, the boundaries of time and space are expanding in a way that will change Black Spire Outpost forever.

Star wars

The Galaxy’s Greatest Legends Join the Fray

For the first time, Black Spire Outpost is rolling back the clock. While the land has traditionally been locked into the sequel trilogy era, guests can now experience multiple points in galactic history. This means you might cross paths with icons from the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic alongside the heroes of the Resistance.

Get your cameras ready, because Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker are officially joining the roster of characters roaming the land! To make the immersion even deeper, the land’s audioscape is being updated with legendary themes from John Williams’ scores from the first six films, bringing that classic cinematic feel to every corner of Batuu.

IMG

New Missions on the Horizon

The excitement doesn’t stop with the timeline shift. On May 22, 2026, a brand-new mission is debuting on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run! In celebration of the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu, your crew will be joined by Din Djarin for a high-stakes adventure.

Even more thrilling? For the first time, the crew will have control over their destination. You could find yourself soaring through the clouds of Bespin, navigating the wreckage of the second Death Star over Endor, or weaving through the skyscrapers of Coruscant.

Nighttime Magic: Shadows and Fireworks

As the sun sets over the spires, two new experiences will light up the outpost:

  • “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga”: This stunning projection show transforms the spires near the Millennium Falcon into a living tapestry of the greatest moments in Star Wars history.
  • “Fire of the Rising Moons”: On select nights, watch the Disneyland fireworks from a unique galactic perspective, accompanied by a soaring soundtrack of John Williams’ most iconic themes.
IMG

Galactic Grub & Gear

While the stories are changing, your favorite stops remain ready for travelers:

  • Fuel Up: Grab a Ronto Wrap (the plant-based option is a fan favorite!) or head to Docking Bay 7 for a full meal.
  • Sip the Classics: Don’t forget to visit the Milk Stand for a cup of Blue or Green Milk—the same frosty treats Luke Skywalker loved.
  • Craft Your Legacy: Whether you’re building a custom blade at Savi’s Workshop or a loyal companion at Droid Depot, the “way of the Force” is stronger than ever.

Did You Know?

  • Hidden Chewie Mode: On Smugglers Run, you can unlock a secret experience where Chewbacca takes over as your flight lead instead of Hondo Ohnaka. It requires a specific sequence of buttons and sticks—ask your crew to help you find the “Wookiee Mode”!
  • Movie-Accurate Details: Imagineers visited Pinewood Studios to study the Millennium Falcon film sets, ensuring every pipe, hose, and sticker on the park’s ship is 100% authentic.

Are you ready to face Lord Vader in the marketplace, or is your heart set on that new Mandalorian mission to Coruscant?

The New Floral Disney World D Denim Baseball Hat Blooms at Magic Kingdom

Spring is officially springing at the parks, and if you’re looking to top off your vacation outfit with something a little more low-key than a pair of sequined Minnie ears, you’ve got to check out the Floral Disney World D Denim Baseball Hat. It’s currently blooming over at the Magic Kingdom for $32.99, and honestly, it’s the kind of accessory that looks just as good at home as it does walking down Main Street, U.S.A.

The vibe here is all about that classic blue denim, which gives it a lived-in, effortless feel right off the shelf. But the real star of the show is the iconic Disney World “D” logo on the front. Instead of the usual solid embroidery, the logo has been completely reimagined using a bunch of tiny, multicolored flowers. It’s vibrant and fresh, making it the ultimate accessory for a sunny day spent exploring the Flower & Garden Festival or just running errands when you wish you were there.

Floral Disney World D Denim Baseball Hat

Disney didn’t skimp on the details either. While the front is all about that floral pop, the back keeps it classic with “Walt Disney World” embroidered in a crisp white script. It’s also fully adjustable, so you don’t have to worry about it flying off while you’re hitting the drops on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It’s a very subtle, sophisticated design that’s still absolutely filled with that signature Disney magic, perfect for the fan who wants to rep the Mouse without going full neon and glitter.

New Retro Orange Bird Collection at Epcot

Retro Orange Bird Collection

New Retro Orange Bird Collection at Epcot

If you’ve been wandering around the World Showcase recently, you’ve probably noticed a certain leafy-headed friend taking over the shelves. The Retro Orange Bird Collection has officially landed for the 2026 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, and it is a total nostalgia trip. This year, Disney went deep into the archives, featuring the meet and greet version of the Orange Bird, you know, the slightly taller, fuzzy mascot that used to hang out in Adventureland back in the ’70s and ’80s. It’s quirky, it’s vintage, and it’s honestly adorable.

First up, if you want to win the best dressed award at the Garden Rocks concert series, you’ve got to check out the Orange Bird Button-Up ($64.99). It’s a crisp white shirt covered in an all-over print of our favorite citrus mascot in various retro poses. If you’re looking for something a bit more casual, there’s the Orange Bird T-Shirt ($36.99). It has those classic orange contrast hems on the neck and sleeves that give off major summer camp in 1975 vibes. The front features the mascot Bird with the festival logo, though the back is kept plain and simple.

Retro Orange Bird Collection

For those of us who can’t leave a festival booth without some souvenirs, the Orange Bird Tote ($34.99) is a must-have. The blue and orange color block looks super sharp, and it features the same mascot graphic as the tee. The best part, though, is the hidden detail: the inside is lined with a pattern of the Orange Bird’s face and includes a zippered pocket to keep your park pass and lip balm from disappearing.

Retro Orange Bird Collection

Finally, you can’t have a retro collection without a classic souvenir cup. The Orange Bird Mug ($16.99) looks like something you’d find in a vintage kitchen, with a clean white ceramic finish and a simple orange stripe around the rim. It’s got the mascot on the front and the 2026 festival branding on the back, making it the perfect way to sip your morning coffee while dreaming of Sunshine Tree Terrace.

This collection is the perfect retro squeeze to add to your style!

Walt Disney Studios Billboard Near Completion as Animation Courtyard Transformation Continues

There is a little bit of old-school Hollywood magic quietly reappearing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it is straight out of Disney’s earliest days. As Animation Courtyard continues its reimagining, crews are putting the finishing touches on a retro-inspired Walt Disney Studios billboard that feels like it time-traveled from the golden age of animation.

New Walt Disney Studios Billboard Added to Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios

The new billboard is being painted directly onto the side of the theater that houses “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” which is expected to be renamed the Studio Theater as part of the update. A large white rectangle now serves as the canvas, replacing the former “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” signage that once lived on the same wall.

Zoom in just a bit, and the details start to tell a story. The words “Walt Disney” and “Silly Symphony” have now been added, bringing the design closer to completion. The final missing piece is an image of Mickey Mouse, which will complete the nostalgic tribute to the original Walt Disney Studios billboard from the Hyperion Studio era, dating back to 1926 through 1940.

Elsewhere in the courtyard, the transformation is picking up color and momentum. Over at the building that will house The Magic of Disney Animation, the bold red stripes along the exterior now appear to be finished or very close to it. These vibrant accents, along with the newly added design elements, are helping reshape the area into something that blends classic Disney animation history with a refreshed, modern look.

New Walt Disney Studios Billboard Added to Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios

This reimagined space will soon become the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, bringing with it expanded green spaces, updated walkways, and even pavement featuring character autographs and handprints. It is shaping up to feel like a living tribute to Disney animation, where the past and present share the same stage.

There is more on the way, too. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is set to open May 26, while The Magic of Disney Animation will debut at a later date. Inside, guests can expect character meet-and-greets, an Olaf-led drawing experience, and a whimsical Alice in Wonderland playground.

Meanwhile, “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” continues to perform as usual, even as the courtyard around it gets its cinematic glow-up.

Bit by bit, brushstroke by brushstroke, this corner of Hollywood Studios is transforming into a love letter to Disney’s animation roots, with a fresh coat of pixie dust to match.

Animation Courtyard Begins Reopening as Construction Walls Come Down at Hollywood Studios

The walls are finally starting to part like a curtain call over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animation Courtyard is beginning to step back into the spotlight. A newly reopened section near the theater for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is now accessible to guests, offering a first look at the refreshed space, including an up-close view of the recently installed Sorcerer Mickey Hat.

While much of the courtyard remains blocked off, the reopened area already feels noticeably more open and polished. Fresh gray pavement stretches through the space, giving it a clean, updated look. Three new flowerbeds have also been installed near the gift shop, each currently home to a small tree that looks ready to grow into a shady future for the courtyard. For now, they are a bit minimalist, like a stage waiting for its full cast of greenery to arrive.

The columns lining this section have been repainted a bold red, matching the queue area for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and tying the space together visually. It is a subtle but effective color cue that something new is taking shape here.

Beyond the remaining construction walls, even more changes are quietly growing. Taller trees are already visible rising above the barriers, hinting at a much shadier and more immersive environment once everything is complete. When finished, this area will officially transform into the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, a reimagined space designed to better match the park’s evolving identity.

Work is also continuing on the façade of the former Magic of Disney Animation building. Crews have installed curved red plywood along the entrance overhang, which will eventually be covered with themed paneling. The material is fire-retardant and serves as a base layer for future design elements. Red striping has also been added to the building, adding another splash of color to the ongoing transformation beneath the iconic Sorcerer Mickey hat.

Step by step, panel by panel, Animation Courtyard is shifting from construction zone to show-ready set. It is not fully ready for its close-up just yet, but the progress so far suggests this reimagined space is getting closer to its big premiere.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Entrance Gets a Fresh New Look Ahead of Muppets Makeover

The transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is starting to look a little more in tune. The entrance archway leading into the coaster’s courtyard has now been painted gray to match the freshly repainted show building, giving the area a more unified look as Disney continues work on the attraction’s upcoming Muppets retheme.

The archway was previously a beige color, matching the former look of the attraction entrance. While most of the archway has now been updated, some of the original beige paint can still be seen near the base of the supports. The gate beneath the archway also remains beige for now, though it may receive its own coat of paint before the attraction reopens.

The lettering at the top of the archway still reads “G-Force Records Presents Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring,” but the “Aerosmith” name has been removed following the closure of the original version of the ride. With Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets set to debut in May, “The Muppets” is expected to be added to the marquee before opening day.

Other familiar details remain in place for now, including the lamps and G-Force Records signs on the sides of the archway. Inside the courtyard, the upside-down car has already received a groovy new makeover, and the large guitar is also being repainted as the attraction continues its backstage-to-center-stage transformation.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed earlier this year as Disney began reworking the high-speed indoor coaster from its Aerosmith theme into a new Muppets-inspired version. While Disney has not revealed every detail of the updated storyline, the exterior changes are giving guests their first visible signs of what is to come.

It looks like the Muppets are tuning up for their big Hollywood Studios encore, and this coaster makeover is hitting all the right notes so far.

Explore the Wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Fall is the purr-fect time to explore Animal Kingdom, and Maharajah Jungle Trek is a must-visit on your autumn adventure! Be sure to stroll the scenic paved trails, where you might spot Sumatran tigers prowling through their habitat. While on the trails, keep your eyes peeled, as you may just see animals snacking on some of their favorite seasonal treats.

Continue your journey and take a ride through the savanna on Kilimanjaro Safaris, which gives you an incredible opportunity to spot over 30 species of animals.

After your safari adventure, join Judy and Nick at The Tree of Life Theater to catch the new “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” 4-D show, which will leave you singing and dancing as you take on the rest of your day. You also can’t go wrong by visiting Pandora – The World of Avatar, or boarding a train to the “top of the world” at Expedition Everest.

To top off your fall exploration, hop on the train and adventure to Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station to join Bluey and Bingo for some playing and dancing. It’ll leave everyone in your party shouting “Wackadoo!”

Fall Fun Beyond the Theme Parks

The celebration extends to the Disney Resort hotels and Disney Springs as well. Many resorts feature seasonal activities like themed “Movies Under the Stars” and fall-inspired crafting sessions. At Disney Springs, guests can enjoy live entertainment, seasonal photo opportunities, and special autumn collections from favorite retailers. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon shopping for that new Mickey pumpkin spirit jersey or a spooky new Loungefly bag.

Refreshing the G-Force Records Entrance

During the attraction’s current refurbishment, the signature 40-foot tall Stratocaster underwent a significant cleaning and repainting process. Now that the covers have been pulled back, guests can see that the colors are sharper and more saturated than they have been in years. The refreshed paint job breathes new life into the Sunset Boulevard landmark, ensuring it remains one of the most photographed spots in the park.

What This Means for the Reopening

While the unveiling of the guitar is a major visual milestone, it is important to note that the attraction itself remains closed for the Muppet takeover. Disney has been utilizing this time to perform routine maintenance on the ride system and refresh various thematic elements throughout the queue and loading area. Seeing the exterior work reach completion is a great sign that the project is moving right along on schedule. (Pun intended)
