Iman Vellani Cast as Kamala Khan for Marvel Studios and Disney+ ‘Ms. Marvel’ Series. Hollywood newcomer, Iman Vellani, has been cast as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and will be the first featured Muslim superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new series will follow her adventures as she navigates her newfound powers and what it means to become a superhero. Marvel Studios CCO Kevin Feige has been mute on what to fully expect from the series, but has shared that Marvel has plans to feature the character Ms. Marvel in future Marvel films and potentially in other series.
“Within the Marvel Universe, Khan is a teenage Pakistani American from Jersey City, New Jersey with shapeshifting abilities who discovers that she has Inhuman genes in the aftermath of the “Inhumanity” storyline and assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel from her idol Carol Danvers after Danvers becomes Captain Marvel.”
Kamala Khan was also a main protagonist in the new Marvel’s Avengers video game that just launched in September for all major gaming consoles and platforms. It is currently unknown which elements of Kamala’s story from the comics will be added into the series. Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon are set to direct various episodes, with Kevin Feige set as executive producer for the new series.
