Disney is busy getting ready to unveil their own streaming service Disney+ sometime later this year. In preparation of the highly-anticipated new platform, the company is creating many new shows and movies that will be exclusive to Disney+. Some of these new offerings will be in the form of live-action Marvel shows featuring favorite characters from the long list of films. Now we know a little bit more about how these shows will fit into Marvel’s vast cinematic universe.
“These will be Marvel Studios productions,” President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige said in a recent interview with Comicbook.com. “They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.”, he added. These statements are sure to excite Marvel fans and are somewhat expected with the already announced Loki show being the first of the new Disney+ series. Official details of the new adventures of the “God of Mischief “are still forthcoming, but rumors point to a plot that has Loki affecting great moments in history.
The announcement that the new Disney+ Marvel shows will connect directly to the films is a somewhat new development for Marvel streaming entertainment. Netflix show The Defenders and its separate series like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, only casually referenced characters and situations from the cinematic universe. Consequently, the “street level” heroes were left out of films like Avengers: Infinity War. Disney has yet to announce the other Marvel shows coming to Disney+ but we will be sure to bring you all new details as they are released.
