Mine-Cart Madness Can Now Stay Open in the Rain at Epic Universe
Florida weather has long been the final boss for a day at Universal Epic Universe, but it looks like one popular attraction just picked up a power-up. According to reports from guests visiting the park, Mine-Cart Madness in Super Nintendo World is now able to continue operating during regular rain showers instead of automatically closing.

The change is a welcome update for visitors, especially during Central Florida’s daily summer downpours. While the attraction will still close if lightning is detected in the area for guest safety, simple rain no longer appears to be enough to shut down the family coaster. Universal could adjust the operating policy at any time, but for now, it’s great news for anyone hoping to squeeze in more rides despite the weather.
Mine-Cart Madness has been one of the attractions most impacted by rain since Epic Universe opened. Because much of the coaster is outdoors, it was previously among the many attractions that would suspend operations during wet weather. With more than half of Epic Universe’s attractions affected by rain in some capacity, keeping Mine-Cart Madness running should also help spread guests throughout the park and ease wait times at indoor attractions when storms roll through.
Inspired by the beloved Donkey Kong Country video games, Mine-Cart Madness sends guests racing through the Golden Temple on a mission to help Donkey Kong protect the Golden Banana. Thanks to its innovative ride system, riders appear to leap across broken sections of track, recreating one of the franchise’s most iconic gameplay moments.
