Director Jared Bush Hints at More 'Encanto' Content and Gives Credit to the Fans

There is no denying that Disney Fans are LOVING Encanto. The soundtrack remains in high rankings across the board, continues to be a popular theme and topic on social media, and now fans are demanding more content. Though an official sequel or additional content has yet to be confirmed, it appears that Disney is willing to talk about more Encanto!

In a recent tweet, Director Jared Bush addressed the love and support from fans, sharing: “I’m asked a LOT if there’ll be more Encanto – movies, TV, Theater, etc – I’ll say this, it was always our dream, but the real deciders are the fans who found themselves in this story, who saw their family in ours, who chose to spend time with the Madrigals… and want to again.

Though Director Jared Bush is far from confirming anything specific, his vague post does seem to indicate that there have or will soon be discussions to expand the Encanto franchise in some way shape, or form. Whether that be through a sequel, a Disney+ original series, or maybe even a stage adaption with more details and musical numbers for the story! (I would love to see some of the deleted scenes added for the stage)

In a recent interview with Collider, Encanto’s chief lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda shared that there are plenty of ways to hear and see more stories from The Madrigal’s, stating: “I do think there’s an appetite to further explore the Madrigal family, given how many characters there are, and how many gifts there are. And also where we leave the story. Now there is sort of this more fully realized version of themselves. Which way can we go? I think it’s a question of when and not if, and what form that will take. Is that another movie? Is that a series? Is that a stage adaptation where we have a little more time, because stage shows are generally an hour longer than movies? And we haven’t had conversations as to what form that will take, but I mean, yeah, I’d be down to continue to explore that. I love writing for Dolores and Camilo. I’d love to write more for them. I’d love to write more for Isabela. So I’m not sure what the next form of that will be, but we haven’t had specific conversations about it’s this or it’s this.”

Would you like to see more of the amazing Madrigals? Who would you like to see as the protagonist in a sequel film? What would you think of a sequel series on Disney+? Would you prefer to see the film adapted as a stage show and what content would you like to see added to the story for the stage? We would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments!
