Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie Among Cast and Crew Evacuated After Bomb Scare On Set of Marvel’s ‘Eternals‘. First and foremost, there is only so much information that can fit in a title, but that does not mean the danger was any less threatening.
UK. based site, The Sun, first shared news of a bomb scare on set of Marvel Studios Eternals. The cast and crew, reportedly including actors Richard Madden (Cinderella, Game of Thrones) and Angelina Jolie (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), were filming in the Canary Islands when an undetonated bomb was found on set. The cast and crew were quickly evacuated to a safe distance as disposal experts were called on scene to handle the found explosive.
Experts believe it is a remnant of the previously Nazi occupied island during World War II that was never detonated and was unearthed by coincidence.
There is no reason to believe the film cast or crew were targeted in this incident, but that did not stop fear from spreading among the Marvel team.
“It was obviously terrifying — the bomb could have been there for decades untouched but who knows what might have happened if it was disturbed,” said someone reportedly on scene during the discovery. “Some of the biggest stars in the world were on set and nobody was taking any chances. Fortunately, experts dealt with it.”
Marvel Studios has yet to release a statement involving the incident, but it was made clear that the bomb squad called in to take care of the explosive were successful in properly disposing of the bomb.
According to a synopsis of the relatively unknown comic series in Production Weekly, “The story of The Eternals is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race. The story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes in moving amongst humans.”
