Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Tradition Ending as Disney Shifts to New Holiday Displays
It is a bittersweet day for Walt Disney World holiday traditionalists. Disney has officially confirmed that the legendary, life-sized Gingerbread House will not be returning to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for the 2026 holiday season.

While the massive, fan-favorite structure is being retired, the resort lobby won’t be entirely without festive cheer. According to industry reporter Scott Gustin, Disney’s talented culinary teams are shifting gears this winter to create brand-new, miniature holiday displays for the resort instead.
The iconic Grand Floridian Gingerbread House has been a staple of the Walt Disney World holiday resort-hopping lineup for over 25 years. Because of extensive lobby remodeling projects, the life-sized house was also absent from last year’s lineup, but many fans had held onto hope that the grand tradition would make a triumphant return for 2026.
While the giant house at the Grand Floridian is taking a permanent break, Disney is expected to share details about other resort gingerbread displays later this year. In previous years, these smaller-scale creations have included the holiday carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the gingerbread Cinderella Castle display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and custom animal displays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
