Tropical Americas Construction Continues to Take Shape at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The future Tropical Americas area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is looking a little more like Pueblo Esperanza with each passing week. Construction crews continue to make visible progress across the former DinoLand U.S.A. site, with new roof framing, themed rockwork, and additional steel structures now rising behind the construction walls.

Thanks to photos by bioreconstruct on X, we can see fresh lumber on the roof of a building near El Carrusel de los Animalitos, the new animal carousel coming to the land. The structure now features a network of wooden roof trusses and angled beams that are beginning to define its final shape. Nearby, the carousel canopy remains exposed, giving guests a peek at the dark wooden supports that will eventually sit above hand-carved-style animal ride figures inspired by Disney films.

Work is also moving along on Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. A growing maze of white steel beams can now be seen deeper inside the construction site, likely forming the support for the attraction’s Casita façade. The new Encanto attraction will take place on the day Antonio receives his magical gift of communicating with animals, with Casita bringing furniture to life as guests travel through the house and into Antonio’s rainforest bedroom.

Elsewhere around the site, additional themed rockwork has appeared near one of the land’s side entrances, with scaffolding still surrounding the newly formed pieces as crews continue shaping and finishing them. Several existing buildings are also receiving roofing work as Disney works to blend portions of the former DinoLand area into Pueblo Esperanza.

Tropical Americas is scheduled to open in 2027 and will also include Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, a reimagining of the former DINOSAUR attraction, along with a new playground and quick-service restaurant. There is still plenty of work ahead, but with roofs rising, rockwork growing, and Casita beginning to take shape, this corner of Animal Kingdom is starting to feel a little less prehistoric and a lot more adventurous.
