More Track Installed on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’s Massive Spike at Universal Studios Florida

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is racing closer to reality at Universal Studios Florida as crews continue adding track to one of the coaster’s most eye-catching features. New aerial photos shared by bioreconstruct reveal additional track sections have been installed on the attraction’s towering spike element, bringing the massive structure one step closer to completion.

The spike, which will stand approximately 170 feet tall, is designed as a dead-end section of track where ride vehicles will rocket upward before coming to a stop and reversing direction. New curved track pieces have now been added to the structure, though a couple of sections still remain before the spike is fully complete. Additional track has also been installed on a nearby lower curve, helping further define the coaster’s layout.

The attraction’s light blue-gray track continues to weave through a forest of dark blue support columns, creating a striking visual as construction progresses. Several support columns feature directional markers indicating the coaster’s travel path, while cranes remain hard at work assembling the massive structure. Guests walking near Hard Rock Cafe can already catch glimpses of the growing coaster behind themed construction walls. Work has also been moving at a fast pace all along the track, including brake runs and the track leading into and out of the maintenance building.

Hollywood Drift is set to replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and is expected to open in 2027. Once complete, the high-speed coaster promises to bring plenty of adrenaline-fueled action to Universal Studios Florida, and judging by the pace of construction, the finish line is getting a little closer every day.
