New Aerial Photos Reveal Progress on Jurassic Park River Adventure Refurbishment at Universal Islands of Adventure

New aerial photos from bioreconstruct offer a fresh look at the extensive refurbishment currently underway on Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal Islands of Adventure. The beloved attraction is in the middle of an 11-month, multi-million dollar overhaul that has transformed the area into one of the most active construction zones in the park.

The aerial overview shows just how much work is taking place throughout the attraction. The ride’s waterways have been completely drained, exposing large sections of track and allowing crews access to areas normally hidden beneath the water. Construction activity can be seen throughout the attraction, including ongoing work at the paddock area where new walls and infrastructure are taking shape.

One of the most exciting developments is the visible refurbishment of the Ultrasaurus figure. Close-up aerial photos show the massive dinosaur animatronic partially disassembled as crews work to restore the iconic creature. The return of major mechanical figures like the Ultrasaurus is a promising sign for fans hoping to see the attraction refreshed with upgraded effects and restored show elements when it reopens.

The photos also reveal ride boats back on the track for testing and maintenance purposes. While the flume remains drained, several boats can be seen positioned throughout the attraction as Universal continues mechanical, ride system, and show building work behind the scenes. Scaffolding remains in place around portions of the attraction, highlighting the scale of the ongoing project.

Jurassic Park River Adventure officially closed earlier this year for the lengthy refurbishment and is currently scheduled to remain closed through November 19, 2026.
