Director Michael Matthews Signs onto Disney’s Live-Action ‘Merlin’ Movie. Disney is set to film a new live-action film based on the T.A. Barron’s novel series following the origins of the famed Warlock who supposedly worked alongside the famed “Arthur Pendragon, King of England” from the Sword in the Stone legend.

Matthews will direct the live-action film for Disney with Gil Netter as producer and Chris Weitz penning the script. Merlin is a separate project from the live-action Sword in the Stone remake for Disney+, but it is unknown if Merlin will premiere in theaters or as a Disney+ Original Movie.
