Release Date Announced for the Highly Anticipated Disney’s Live-Action ‘Tangled’
It is officially the best day ever! Disney has finally announced the release date for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Tangled, and fans have a lot to look forward to.
The news was dropped with a special surprise: Kathryn Hahn, who is stepping into the villainous role of Mother Gothel, joined the stage to personally share the announcement with fans. Grab your frying pans and mark your calendars, because Tangled will hit theaters on March 31, 2028.

A Long Road to the Big Screen
We first reported on the development of a live-action Tangled remake back in 2020—exactly ten years after the original animated film won over our hearts. The project gained major momentum in December 2024 when it was officially announced to be in development with The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey at the helm.
However, the journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. The film was placed on “indefinite hold” in April 2025 following the disappointing box office performance of the live-action Snow White. Fortunately, the massive blockbuster success of the live-action Lilo & Stitch gave the studio renewed confidence, and production officially resumed in October 2025.
Gracey remains in the director’s chair, working from a script penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

The Cast So Far
The kingdom of Corona is assembling a star-studded roster. The confirmed cast includes:
- Teagan Croft as Rapunzel
- Milo Manheim as the smoldering Flynn Rider
- Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel
- Diego Luna, who is attached to play a brand-new original character created specifically for the film
Fans have recently been treated to exciting first looks at Teagan Croft channeling Rapunzel’s sunny energy and Kathryn Hahn embracing Gothel’s manipulative charm. We also got a magical glimpse at the physical tower set being used for the movie!
