Epcot Food & Wine Italian Pavilion is Perfect for Families

Food from Italy Booth at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival

I could easily eat Via Napoli’s Margherita Pizza every day. Not to mention their delicious Tiramisù. But Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is going on right now, which means new and exciting Italian bites are waiting in the Italy booth! This year’s options are sure to satisfy your hunger.

This is a popular location to eat, so my wait was a long one, but thankfully worthwhile! The savory dish I ended up trying was the Mezzelune Croccanti, a new addition to this year’s lineup. They are described on the menu as “Crispy Half-moon Breaded Mozzarella-filled Ravioli with Pomodoro Sauce.” The outside was well-toasted, the inside cheesy and warm without being runny. While it wasn’t particularly unusual, the sauce was flavorful and paired well with the ravioli. The dish is filling and they give you plenty, so I was happy to share with my kids. The Mezzelune Croccanti ended up being the kid-favorite of the day, so you can keep it in mind if you’re traveling as a family!

I also needed to try the Bomboloni for a little something sweet. These are “Cream-filled Italian Doughnuts with Raspberry Sauce and Powdered Sugar.” It’s a very straightforward dessert, but effective! There is lots of cream inside each of the donuts, so it’s not as bready as some of the donuts you’ll find at Joffrey’s or The Donut Box. It’s also less sweet than most of those donuts, so if you’re hoping for a sugar overload, you should look elsewhere. Otherwise, the raspberry sauce added a fresh flavor to the donuts, and I liked that there were several small donuts instead of one big one so that it was shareable.

Overall, it’s hard to turn down Italian food. For those of us doing the Food and Wine Festival with picky children, it’s good to know there’s a booth with plenty of bread and cheese to delight them. It’s also nice when we get to share the foods we enjoy as a family. As the Italians say “La famiglia e tutto” (family is everything). But food may be a close second.
