The changes happening over at the Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise are coming fast. In January 2021, Disney announced that enhancements would be coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland versions of the classic ride. Those evolutions are already taking place, and the latest one involves what used to be known as a “pygmy hut, ” but is now a “Boats & Baits and Bites!” shack. Have you spotted it yet?

The Jungle Cruise is undergoing a change that will impact its entire storyline while continuing to delight guests with the same spirit and theme we’ve loved for generations. The tale will be that of a skipper (not the same as the one on your boat!) and his group of unfortunate passengers as they encounter many travel woes. Better hope the same doesn’t happen to your traveling party!

The ride has been getting quite a bit of attention lately. There is a feature film based on the idea, a new Little Golden Book that takes readers through the ride, and changes taking place on both American coasts. It remains a fan favorite, as well as a Disney icon.

Thankfully for those of us who love a good trip down the river, the Jungle Cruise in Disney World will remain open during its update. The work will be done in phases. That is also fun for guests who have the opportunity to slowly watch the progress occurring. Next time you’re on the Jungle Cruise, keep your eyes peeled for the newest business shack in the jungle, as well as any other updates that may be coming along!
