You may not know it, but you can stay at a Disney Vacation Club Villa even if you’re not a member! It’s true! Villas are connected to several of Disney World’s deluxe resorts and offer some extra benefits; but now you may be asking yourself, why should I choose to stay at one? Well, my Top 5 Reasons to Stay at a DVC Villa will answer just that!
1. Space-If you stay at a DVC villa, you are getting more space. There are several room types available, some offering more than one room for even more space! This is a great benefit if you have a large family, are traveling with older kids, or just want to live in luxury while at Disney!
2. Amenities-Every type of room at the villas, regardless of whether you are staying in a studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom, all rooms offer a microwave, wet bar, refridgerator, private porch or balcony. Most of the villa room types, except for the studios, offer a DVD player, whirlpool tub, washer and dryer, king size bed, and more! If you are interested in these extras for your stay at a DVC villa, make sure that your type of room offers what you are looking for and check with Disney when you make reservations to be sure. Also be aware of a downside at the villas, which is housekeeping doesn’t clean your room every day.
3. Cheaper-Sometimes some DVC Villas can actually run cheaper than standard Deluxe rooms! It’s like a Deluxe Resort discount with extras!
4. Laundry-One of the biggest pains at Disney is laundry. Most rooms at Disney World don’t have a washer and dryer so halfway during your trip, you have to fill your pockets full of change, haul your family’s laundry to the resort’s laundromat, and then wait and wait. Some guests pack enough clothes for the whole trip to avoid this; but with today’s baggage fees, that’s hard to do. It’s also difficult in the summertime where you will probably change more than once during the day because you will get hot and sweaty or soaked in a sudden downpour. If you are debating the packing/laundry issue, click here for some help.
5. New Experience-DVC villas are often housed in connecting but separate buildings at Disney resorts. They often offer different room decor and a homey like atmosphere. If you stay at Wilderness Lodge, you will get to see its own Vacation Club’s separate lobby that you may not have known was there! It has a small fireplace, relics, and even a game room decorated with old fashioned trains.

Thank you for this info! I was under the impression that everyone staying at a villa only got towel service on the 4th and 8th days. Looking into Bay Lake Tower for 9 of us in 2014 and this makes me happy:-)
When you pay for one of the DVC units (instead of using points), you do get mousekeeping everyday just like you would in any of the other resorts. The only way you wouldn’t get ‘mousekeeping’ is if you are a member or using points. We were there in June, 2011, paying for a one bedroom since we ran out of points and received ‘mousekeeping’ every day.
I would love to stay at a villa. As a family we hardly ever stay in regular hotel rooms just because with a family of 5 resorts have so much more space. Unfortunately we have never stayed a Disney Villa. My husband and I are going in May but we are staying in a honeymoon suite at WL. I really wanted to try Club level and since its only the 2 of us I thought the hotel room would be fine.

Since having our son 4 years ago, we’ve discovered the value of the 1 BR Villas. We aren’t DVC members, but have often scored reservations with discount codes that brought the rate down equal to or lower than a regular room. Even without a discount, there is other value, both tangible & intangible, to be had. Having laundry in the room not only allows us to pack light and save on luggage fees, but it makes flying with a little one that much easier. The kitchen allows us to keep some groceries on hand, which not only ensures we’re getting at least a nutritious breakfast & snack each day so nobody gets run down from too much junk food, but it saves time in that we don’t have to plan for every meal out. And, the extra room is great since it gives our little man a quiet place to rest and we can enjoy the rest of the villa without having to tiptoe around because he’s sleeping. I highly recommend them for anyone traveling with kids!

I have been a DVC member since 1993. I have stayed at all of the DVC resorts (my home resort is OKW) and my family loves the Boardwalk the best. On our most recent trip to Disney (2/11), we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge…unfortunately that was our least favorite. Now we are excited about the Grand Floridian rumors!!! It will be nice to not have to use a ton of points to stay in a regular room at the GF anymore!
