Frozen the Musical is scheduled to make it’s Broadway debut Spring 2018. While some of the production will remain true to the hit movie, there are many changes that will make it “original for the stage.” This includes the costumes designed by Christopher Oram.
Today, we have received our first look on what Anna and Elsa’s costumes will look like for the upcoming production. In my opinion, they are quite different than what is to be expected. Don’t get me wrong, they are unique and magical in their own way. Just different!
Here is your first look:
As mentioned, anyone seeing the Broadway adaption should expect other differences. Thomas Schumacher, the head of the Walt Disney theatrical empire said, “We’re not doing an exact copy of the movie. We evoke the movie, but we’re creating something original for the stage.” Theater-goers should be prepared for other surprises as well.
In addition to the costumes, the Broadway adaption will run about 20 minutes longer than the movie. This gives the audience more time to learn more about the characters and their predicaments. “What’s going through Anna’s head when Hans tells her he never loved her?” says Schumacher. “What is Elsa thinking as she’s being coronated? ”
There will also be some changes to the score of the production as well. All of the original songs Frozen songs will be featured as well as 12 new ones created for the Broadway production. So, no need to worry…. “Let it Go” will be able to be stuck in your head once again!
Tickets for Broadway musical go on sale this Monday.
