Jim Cummings Speaks Out After Being Left Out of 2026 Disney Legends Class

Jim Cummings has spent four decades giving a voice to some of Disney’s most recognizable characters, and after once again being passed over for the Disney Legends honor, the veteran voice actor is making his feelings known. Following the 2026 Disney Legends ceremony at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Cummings reshared several fan posts questioning why he has yet to receive the company’s highest individual honor.

Cummings summed up his reaction with a short but pointed message: “40 years. 1500 characters. The voice of generations. No comment.” Fans have been especially vocal about his absence from the Disney Legends lineup, pointing to a career that includes Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Pete, Darkwing Duck, Ray from The Princess and the Frog, Hondo Ohnaka, Ed from The Lion King, and many more. He also famously stepped in to complete part of “Be Prepared” after Jeremy Irons lost his voice during recording.

The conversation picked up again after Disney inducted its 2026 class of Legends, which included Susan Egan, Eric Goldberg, Anne Hathaway, Bob Iger, Kim Irvine, Dwayne Johnson, the Jonas Brothers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alan Tudyk, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Chris Berman. Some fans have questioned how Cummings, whose voice work stretches across generations of Disney animation, television, films, and theme park characters, has still not joined that list. A fan petition calling for Cummings to receive the honor was also launched earlier this year after the 2026 class was announced.

There is no indication Disney has responded to the renewed calls for Cummings to become a Disney Legend, and the honor could still come in a future class. For now, though, his three-word ending of “No comment” is doing plenty of talking on its own. After 40 years of Pooh Bear chuckles, Tigger bounces, Darkwing declarations, and countless other voices, fans clearly feel this is one Disney story that deserves a different ending.
