O Captain! My Captain!
Directed by Peter Weir, 1989’s Dead Poets Society stars Williams as John Keating, an iconoclastic English teacher at an elite prep school who uses poetry to challenge his students to embrace individual thought and “seize the day.” The performance earned Williams an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and cemented the film as a cultural touchstone for generations of moviegoers.

A Comedy Legend in Prosthetics
Four years later, Williams took on one of his most famous comedic roles in Chris Columbus’ Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). Playing Daniel Hillard, a devoted father who disguises himself as an elderly British housekeeper to spend time with his children, Williams earned the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film remains a family staple, remembered for its heart, sharp balance of humor, and legendary improvisational sequences.
