In a joint Instagram post shared by Pixar and the official Toy Story account, the legendary trio of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie were spotted posing outside NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The fun, galactic photo op marks an exciting promotional visit as the countdown officially begins for the theatrical debut of Toy Story 5.

The post reads:

“Some journeys begin with a rocket launch. Others begin with a story.

Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie stopped by @nasa — a fitting home for characters who have inspired generations to dream bigger.

Beyond his fictional space-faring backstory, Buzz Lightyear shares a genuine historical connection with NASA. Back in 2008, a real Buzz Lightyear action figure made history by launching to the International Space Station as part of a collaborative educational initiative between NASA and Disney-Pixar. The toy traveled to orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery and went on to spend an incredible 15 months living aboard the ISS.

Today, that exact space-flown toy has officially traded the stars for a spot on Earth, finding a permanent home as an artifact within the prestigious Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum collection.

Continuing a legendary cinematic legacy nearly three decades after the original Toy Story first captivated audiences in 1995, Toy Story 5 will plunge the beloved characters into a modern “toys meets tech” conflict.
