No Wi-Fi or G.P.S in the Disney World Resort?

Hey there ladies and gentlemen. It’s me Anonymouse, yes I am back. You know you missed me!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the parks, yes Chippy gave me a day off, and I was talking to a CM who gave me some inside info. He told me that Disney World currently has no Wi-Fi in the parks. Now I found that to be a bit odd because I have heard that there is Wi-Fi in the parks ( although I have never used it myself). I asked him if he was sure because I heard something different. He proceeded to tell me that there has been a ton of problems with the Wi-Fi, so they had to shut it down.

F.Y.I: I have had no problem using the Wi-Fi in the resorts. 

He also told me that G.P.S. devices do not work in Disney World for the most part. This I can vouch for because I have had a not so magical time using my G.P.S. at Disney World.

So I had my doubts about this, I decided to email Disney directly and they told me there is Wi-Fi in the parks and the resorts except Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, those guests get a modem for their internet. They did confirm that they have been having problems with the Wi-Fi in the parks since the introduction of the My Disney app. At times they have had to shut it down while they work on upgrading their system to handle the new demands. They said it should all be fixed shortly.

They also said they have no control over the G.P.S. devices because most of the roads are public roads. In a round about way they did admit to the G.P.S. issues in the parks because they said “We have maps and guidebook to assist our guests in getting around the parks and resorts.

Hopefully this will help you on your next visit to parks. You know I love to spread the magic, and the gossip!!
