As of March 16th, 2020, Disney parks worldwide will be closed due to concern over the Coronavirus. Disneyland California will be closed as of March 14th, while Walt Disney World will close March 16th. Both will remain closed through the end of the month.
Many questions have continued to arise about the close of operations, but thankfully a big one has just been answered: The Walt Disney Company will continue to pay Cast Members during the closure. This announcement comes on the heels of a promise that excess food at Disneyland will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. It seems Disney is working hard to maintain a spirit of benevolence at this time.
Until further notice, guests may continue to frequent Disney World resorts and Disney Springs. Refunds are being issued for Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours, and Disney Early Morning Magic events taking place during the closure. Date-specific park tickets have been extended for use through December 15, 2020. Annual Passholders can also expect their passes to extend the number of days that the parks remain closed.
The Walt Disney Company continues to monitor the impact of the Coronavirus worldwide and releases updates as the situation changes. We at Chip and Co appreciate their diligence and will keep our fans informed of the measures being taken at Disney parks.
