Walt Disney Family Former Ranch for Sale for $71 Million Dollars

A Wyoming Ranch, which was once owned by Walt Disney’s family, is officially on the market for $71 Million.

According to James Taylor of Hall and Hall Real Estate in Billings, Walt owned the property through a company known as Retlaw Enterprises, which Mr. Disney had formed to license his name and build Disneyland, according to the book “The Animated Man,” by Michael Barrier. Retlaw is Walter spelled backwards. The family also owned Rocking Chair Ranch, another property outside of Dubois. That sold last year for $15.9 million. After Mr. Disney’s death in 1966, Retlaw was owned by his heirs.

Now known as Diamond G Ranch, the property is located about 23 miles from Yellowstone National Park and is surrounded by national forestland. The ranch has several structures, including a lodge with five bedrooms that serves as the owner’s residence, said Mr. Taylor. The main guesthouse is a log structure with an enclosed porch. There are additional guest homes, including two log cabins, as well as a roughly 1,500-square-foot manager’s house with three bedrooms. The barn has storage on the first level and an office, boardroom and kitchenette upstairs. There is also a lake, and a roughly 5-mile stretch of Du Noir Creek runs through the property.

The ranch’s privacy, river access and proximity to Jackson Hole make it extremely valuable. The Diamond G Ranch has 5,000 deeded acres and about 800 acres of private and state leases. The ranch is surrounded by the Shoshone National Forest on three sides in a valley formed by the Ramshorn, Pinnacles, and Coffin Buttes. The first federal protected national forest, the Shoshone National Forest covers 2.4 million acres in Wyoming, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

According to the Hall and Hall listing, a wide range of wildlife can be found around the property including wolverine, mountain lion, elk, deer and antelope.
