Disney Legend Dave Smith is a man who forever changed the Walt Disney Company. He began his Disney career when Roy Disney hired him on June 22, 1970. Now the company is going to honor his legacy on the 50th anniversary of when started working at the Walt Disney Company.
Dave Smith founded the Walt Disney Archives for the Walt Disney Company. He was responsible for growing the corporate archives into a full-fledged department. This was a critical task for Disney. Dave Smith worked hard on making accurate archives to document the history of the Walt Disney Company.
Disneyland Resort plans to unveil a window on Main Street, USA dedicated to his name. This posthumous award is the greatest honor Disneyland can bestow upon a Disney Legend. In the future, those who walk down Main Street in Disneyland will be able to find Dave Smith’s name in one of the windows overlooking the street.
Dave Smith passes away in 2019, but the impact he had on Disney history will never be forgotten. He is the author of the official Disney encyclopedia, Disney A to Z, which is still in publication to this day. He had a regular column in several publications, such as The Disney Channel Magazine and Disney Magazine. He contributed to many articles and books throughout the years. He retired in 2010, but he proceeded to work as a consultant for Disney until his death in 2019.
