Take a look at the easy recipe from Disney Family and start baking some Mickey Pizza Pretzels:
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 packet of rapid rise (or instant) yeast
- 1 tbsp of vegetable or canola oil
- 3 cups of warm water
- 1/4 cup of baking soda
- Pizza sauce
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil and oregano
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar and salt
- Add the rapid rise yeast and mix
- Make an opening in the middle of the mix and pour in the oil and 1 cup of water (if you are using instant yeast then you don’t need the water)
- Mix everything together and begin to knead the dough (if the mixture feels too dry, add more water a little bit at a time until the mixture sticks together)
- Continue to knead the dough for another 5 minutes
- Coat the inside of a large bowl with a little bit of oil. Place the dough inside and cover it with a lid or cling wrap
- Leave it in a room temperature spot to rise for 1 hour, then place the dough on a lightly floured surface
- In a medium bowl mix 2 cups of warm water and baking soda and set aside
- Grease a baking pan and set to the side
- Preheat oven to 450F
- Take a small portion of the dough (about the size of a ping pong ball) and roll it in your hand to make the circle of Mickey’s head. Then repeat with two smaller circles for the ears
- Pinch together the ends to make them stick, then pinch the ears onto the larger circle to make the Mickey pizza pretzel shape
- Dip the entire pretzel into the water and baking soda mixture, let the excess drip off. Then place on the greased pan and repeat
- Once you have your baking pan filled with Mickey pizza pretzels let them rise again for about 15 minutes
- Spread pizza sauce on top of each
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, then chop up some fresh basil and oregano and sprinkle over the cheese
- Bake for 8-10 minutes
