Try the Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart From the Newly-Opened Alps Booth at EPCOT

More booths have opened at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, which can mean only one thing: it’s time to eat! Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Alps booth, located next to the Germany pavilion, to sample their incredible dessert. While the raclette is a delicious choice, I have a bit of a sweet tooth. The Blueberry Almond Frangipane Tart was exactly what I needed.

True to European tastes, this little tart is not overly sweet. Instead, it relies on the flavor from the blueberries and almonds to deliver a satisfying product. The crème fraîche is certainly the element that tastes most sugary, and since it is served on the side, guests have the option to make the tart as sweet as they’d like it by adding more on top.

The tart itself is cakey but moist. If you’re familiar with frangipane, you’ll know that signature taste and density that comes from the almonds. It’s a subtle sweetness that won’t leave you with a toothache afterward, so if you’re big on sugar eat a cupcake instead. The blueberries on top are fresh and bleed into the cake a bit. They cover the top, so every bite has blueberries in it. The combination of blueberries and almonds tastes elegant and is a welcome departure from the over-the-top trend in Disney desserts (I can’t do any more monster shakes!).
