Hotel Transylvania: Transformania‘ to Bypass Theaters Due to New $100 Million Deal. The fourth installment of the Hotel Transylvania franchise was set to premiere exclusively in theaters on October 1st, but a new deal between Sony Animation Studios and Amazon will see the film skip theaters in favor of an exclusive release via Amazon Prime Video.

Should the new deal be approved, Amazon would pay $100 Million to gain the right to premiere and stream the new film exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, driving up sales for the company’s Amazon Prime services. According to a source familiar with the new deal, Sony will retain the rights to home entertainment, linear TV, and Chinese exhibition for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, while Amazon would have the streaming rights for the animated film.

Van Helsing’s mysterious new invention transforms Drac and his pals into humans, and Johnny into a monster. With their new mismatched bodies, Drac and the pack must find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.

Brian Hull and Brad Abrell have replaced Adam Sandler and Kevin James as Dracula and Frankenstein respectively, with Selena Gomez (Mavis), Andy Samberg (Johnathan), Kathryn Hahn (Erika VanHelsing), David Spade (Griffin), and more reprising their roles in the film. It is currently unknown why Sandler and James backed out of the project, yet the filmmakers previously shared due to the changes the characters take in the film they wanted to have new actors voice the roles to give them a new feel.
