Tim Burton to Helm New ‘The Addams Family‘ Live-Action Series. Award Winning Director and Executive Producer Tim Burton has signed on to create a live-action ‘The Addams Family‘ television series. The Addams Family will mark Tim Burton’s first live-action television project. The series will primarily focus on the character Wednesday Addams as she navigates a more modern world in the 2020’s with her unique outlook on life and death.
For Burton’s adaptation, he really ought to look no further than regular collaborator Johnny Depp. While Depp might seem like the obvious (even lazy) choice, his career has been on a downward spiral of late, and The Addams Family could be the perfect comeback vehicle.
Joining Burton as executive producers will be Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville). Gough and Millar will also co-write the series and act as show runners throughout production. It is currently unknown which streaming or network provider will land the project, but Netflix is currently the top bidder for the upcoming series according to Deadline.
