With Engagement Season coming to a close, Wedding Season will soon be upon us! If you are a romantic (or one of the newly engaged couples), weddings hold a special place in your heart. The whole process of planning a wedding can be as simple or as intricate as the special couple wants it to be. Let’s take a look at one wedding planned by Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team in Disneyland. The wedding accommodated 150 guests and is honestly just absolutely stunning! (Seriously, take a close look at these photos…)
The concept of “A Journey Through the Castle Grounds” started with a single photo of a cake suspended from an enchanted vine. The vision was brought to life as only Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team can. This wedding reception fully immersed guests into the theme and made use of all their senses!
Reception Setting
The setting of the reception is a mysterious forest at the edge of the grounds of an enchanted castle. The celebration was set in a clearing in the forest, however, the forest had taken over the site of the party. It was almost as though the celebration had been abandoned. Moss and vines were wrapped around the table legs and other surfaces while the crumbling walls of what was formerly a castle were overgrown with vines and faux dirt. The perimeter of the clearing was lined by flowers and vines which cascaded from above.
Creation Process
The process that was used to create this enchanting space was very involved, to say the least! From real and faux grass to 25-foot-tall pepper trees, every detail was thought of and executed. There were ten custom forest canopy structures crafted from more than 5,000 strands of silk floral and crystal beading. Nine crystal chandeliers were even covered in vines and hand strung with flowers. There was even a reflecting pond created with an LED video that doubled as the dance floor!
Lighting for the Event
No detail was left untouched! Theatrical lighting was used to set the tone for the whole event. The morning sun beamed through the overhead foliage and met guests as they entered the space. Throughout the course of the reception, guests experienced a fiery sunset, an indigo star-filled night sky, and a lilac-hued morning dawn. Even though the venue was 10,000 square feet and had plenty of space for a traditional wedding reception, the 13-piece orchestra was set on top of the crumbling archway and colonnade. This made perfect use of the space and kept the fairy tale alive!
Texture, Texture, Texture!
As with any forest-themed wedding, texture played an important part in the transformation of the event space. There was a contrast between the soft artificial turf forest floor and the dirt-like ashy brown low pile carpeting. Moss, lichen, and twine wrapped napkins covered the tables. The addition of velvety burnout table linens made the perfect forest inspired settings.
Sounds of Nature
Even the sounds of the evening were accounted for and changed during the reception. Crickets and bullfrogs could be heard throughout the evening while daybreak brought the sounds of robins and lovebirds. (Aww! How fitting!)
Scents of Nature
The wedding reception did not utilize any scent machines. The fresh décor was enough. The scent of an authentic forest environment was easily created with all of the foliage that created the scenery!
Five-Course Meal
The food that was served during the reception was just as impressive as the reception space. A five-course meal representing different elements of the forest was served on stoneware style plates. Served was wild field greens salad dressed with edible flowers and poppy seed dressing, salmon filet caught direct from the enchanted pond, and filet mignon flavored with rich earthy mushrooms to name a few. There was even a floral-scented intermezzo, served in delicate porcelain flower-shaped bowls.
I think that Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team accomplished their goal of fully immersing the guests into the fairy tale that they created. The whole event looks like it was absolutely marvelous! What do you think about this wedding reception? What kind of concept would you request of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team if given the opportunity? Let me know in the comments!
