Sugarboo & Co. announced recently plans to open a new location Spring 2019 in Downtown Disney. This new downtown shop will be the fist location for Sugarboo & Co., which has stores in Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Florida and Nevada.
Sugarboo & Co. is a family-owned home décor and gift shop owned by Georgia-based artist Rebecca Puig. Puig named the store Sugarboo & Co. after her “sugarboo” children with the mission of sending a little good into the world with each Sugarboo piece.
The new store will be moving into an empty storefront in the West end of Downtown Disney, which formerly housed the Disney Vacation Club sales office. This open storefront came after locations closed to make room for a 700-room Disney hotel. However, Disney pulled the plug on the Downtown Disney hotel after Anaheim eliminated a tax rebate agreement worth $267 million to the company.
Recently the Downtown Disney’s West end shops have been continuing to open and reopen slowly including Earl of Sandwich and Starbucks in their former locations that were forced to close. ESPN Zone, which was also forced to close, will be temporarily overtaken by a limited-time Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration ticketed exhibit. There is no word yet if ESPN Zone will be returning.
Additional locations forced to close were Rainforest Café and AMC Theaters. The parent company for Rainforest Café has expressed interest in reopening in their previous location in Downtown Disney, whereas, AMC plans to open a six-screen theater at the Anaheim Garden Walk shopping center.
What do you think of the renovations on the West end of Downtown Disney? We are excited to see previous locations return, however, we are equally excited to see new stores such as Sugarboo & Co that will offer a wide variety for guests.
