Stormalong Bay, known for its sandy-bottom pool, lazy river, and thrilling waterslide, is a major draw for families staying at these deluxe resorts. Its closure, while necessary for maintenance and enhancements, is undoubtedly a disappointment for many. According to the Walt Disney World website, the refurbishment is expected to continue through June 2025.

Refurbishments are a necessary part of maintaining the high standards that Disney World guests expect. While the exact nature of the work being done on Stormalong Bay hasn’t been officially released, it’s common for pool closures to involve repairs, resurfacing, updates to equipment, and sometimes even the addition of new features.

The Walt Disney World website says this about the closure:
“From January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.”
