Big news broke yesterday regarding Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge on both coasts. It was announced that the highly anticipated second ride “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” would be opening this December at the Walt Disney World Resort. The shock, however, was that this highly sought after ride wouldn’t be opening in Disneyland until January 17, 2020. That’s over a month after Walt Disney World will get it.
Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge has been open since May 31st. The first ride “Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run” opened when the immersive new land debuted. Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge isn’t set to open in Walt Disney World until August 29th.
After “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” opens on December 5th in Disney World the Imagineers will head back to finish the ride at the original park. This ride is said to “blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. ” It goes on go state that “guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.” “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” sounds like the rush we’ve been waiting for.
Whichever coast you’ll be visiting, “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” is sure to be an amazing new addition. Are you surprised it’ll be opening at the Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World first?
